It's unfortunate Ryder did what he did regarding Mrs. Flores but I sadly feel this is not isolated-there are many people in education who choose not to change with the times and wind up stifling and destroying free spirits because they have tenure. There is more than one way to reach a child to bring out the best in them, ruthless cookie cutter methods don't serve the community, locally and at large.

This chapter deserves a double love!! ❤️❤️ I liked it very much when Ryder took on Mrs. Flores and defended Oliver, I LOVED it when Harry said: “Ryder, it takes a village to raise a kid.” He explained. “And as much as me and Jill want to raise him, and as much as I wish I knew the words to get him to behave, well you saw what he was like before you got here.” He exhaled. “Sure, you’re not perfect, but you’re doing a better job than I did, and I just, the best way for me to be a good dad right now is to hand him over for a while and support you both the best I can.” The hardest and strongest thing a parent can do is admit that someone else can handle their child better than they can, everyone benefits, especially the child. I think that was the most loving, profound thing Harry ever said about/to Oliver. Ryder's influence on Oli cannot be denied and it is positive. This benefits Ryder, too; Not only getting such a ringing endorsement from a man he looks at as a second father but the responsibility of shaping but not breaking someone like Oliver, someone like himself; It's almost like he gets a do over. 😍

I'm reading the comments that put Drake in the bad corner and I get it, to a point. I don't view him as an unsympathetic character, I view him as someone who's finally facing the elephant that's been in his living room for two years. This would have been a tough situation for anyone to deal with; Due to his upbringing, Drake lacks the coping skills to deal with this at all, let alone with support. I think he would've been oblivious and insensitive to anyone with him at this point, that it's Jimmy makes it intolerable for us because we see clearly what Drake can't-they should be together. It's easy to take such unconditional support for granted and unfortunately, he does. Drake is being a shithead, no doubt. Remember tho, Jimmy wants this conversation between him and Drake and he want the confrontation between Drake and Richard- 1/ His convo with Drake has been shut down every time it came up since their break up. 2/ Drake's break up with Richard was the most traumatic thing to ever happen to him, it altered the way he viewed and handled future relationships. If Drake can get a positive resolution to that via a conversation with Richard, Jimmy wants that for Drake. Neither of these conversations were going to be pleasant, to intermingle them, (as what happened at the bench) was nitro meeting glycerin. The waters always get murky when you drudge the gunk up from the bottom. It has to get messy tho in order to resettle, hopefully for the better.

Drake won't see it because he's in it (and truthfully without knowing how the breakup went he may have just other reason to be mad). It doesn't serve Jimmy Dean to do this, it actually goes against him but J.D.'s whole purpose is to see Drake through this, good bad and ugly. He truly loves him as well as being in love with him. Cody has no shyness at all!! 😄 Funny thing was every time someone cursed, I was expecting a little boy to pull on a pants leg and say "Qata"!! I get Blu's "money can't buy happiness" philosophy but I think he's a bit short sighted in not appreciating deep pockets. That $$ was earned by Kyle and Kaleb and I think "it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it". All I can do is shake my head at the actions of the "righteous". It's always been my observation that those who take it upon themselves to mandate what is "right" and "wrong" tend to be the biggest, hypocritical wrongdoers themselves. They truly "doth protest too much". Another lovely glimpse into the Waters family loving chaos.

Hi Ace: To piggyback on droughtquake and Sweetlion-I think when any of us embark upon a story as a reader, it starts this unique union with the author where we plug into your wavelength (if we're lucky). I have the deepest awe and respect for a writer's muse. That source can vary from the rooter to the tooter. If readers are part of the inspiration, it is an honor but none of us would ever want to dictate direction of the story unless it is in harmony with what the author feels should happen (or the characters, as I know they develop lives of their own 😄). This story is just amazing and totally engrossing, we are with you even with the trials and tribulations they may go through because we know it's an organic part of the journey. We all know the road to HEA needs a few bumps to make it interesting 😉. This was a great chapter, thank you so much for sharing. Oh and yeah, versatility would be cool with the guys, good sex between them is a given; I'd like to think Teddy would be open to it if Ryder lets him know he really wants it.

I think "responsible" is a loose term, even tho they are his custodial parents. The term "Oli fatigue" was perfectly coined in one of the previous comments to explain Mr. and Mrs. Haner's inability to handle Oliver. They had no prior skill set in dealing with a temperment like Oli's; Teddy was the perfect son and was false advertising for baby #2!! 😄 I think the elder Haners, already trusting Teddy and having renewed trust in Ryder, won't object as much to any preemptive moves Teddy and Ryder do with Oliver; It is almost like Oli is theirs.

Ryder made all the difference. He understands Oliver better than Teddy or Mr. & Mrs. Haner. Ryder's presence also allowed the family to deal with and heal from the fractures his leaving caused 13 years before. He revived the family and I think it's no exaggeration to say he saved Oliver's life, with or without Unity.

I'm with you on that-the GA part not the Amazon part. With what we know about data collection and breaches by these companies that make shopping and communication convenient, I'm not surprised anymore with their "suggestions", more annoyed, lol.

Is Oli sexually repressed or is it me? I know sexuality develops at different stages for everyone but 13 going on 14 seems on the late swing of the curiosity spectrum. It is cute watching his exploration blossom, at any rate. I love how fast the song was recorded then shipped to the different labels, it is the show of confidence Oliver needed to see from Ryder in his abilities. It was cute seeing Mrs. Haner scold Ryder and Oli for not sleeping 'cause they were making music, creativity has no timetable, lol. I agree with you. Jason showed his love for his family by keeping in contact with his parents in spite of that treatment and even trying to understand through the grandchild angle. At the same time, tho, it's like his parents punished him because he did not produce grandchildren. I wonder if the treatment would have been the same if he had?
