James, my gay friends recently got "married/engaged" well.. as Married as one can get in the state of Kentucky... They exchanged different things, Derek bought Greg a ring and a necklace. Greg bought Derek and ring and a bracelet they both matched in style and design. Small tokens that show love are romantic to me and I would like seeing gay couples do this, but I understand why some don't. For me personally, I have two engagement rings.. lol.. One from David (the first time me proposed, the second hasn't happened yet), and from Jared. I no longer wear the one from Jared as it would look extremely weird.. and really the ring no longer holds any emotional attachment with it.. BUT! David is incredibly wrong if he thinks he doesn't have to get me another ring.. lol. Anyway, the first time I was engaged to David I got him a bracelet, which he still wears. More women should buy their husbands engagement gifts in straight relationships.

Yes. A best friend normally has some of the qualities you find attractive in people or want. Attraction could develop or it could not. It could just be someone who you have a lot of things in common with, but usually best friends are someone that is at least similar I think.

Even though David isn't the perfect guy, I've attempted to answer this thread a few times and I've not really been able to do it.. lol. I mean it's difficult to say something that David doesn't fall under. So anyway, he does do things that annoy me, but they aren't massive. Like when he wears dress pants he pulls the legs up before he sits down, which is ok but he does it to where the bottom of his legs show.. they just seem to be up more than what other typical men do.. lol.. as a lot of men do that for some reason... He also bites his nails when his mother annoys him, I've never seen him bite his nails around me when we're alone, but when she's in the room being her chatty self usually either making fun of him or giving him pointers on how to treat me he starts biting his nails... haha.. I guess it's better than arguing with her. He also used to be a perfectionist, but being with me has actually stopped that stressful need that he has.. lol. I mean I even got him to play tackle football with me and the friends in the back yard when he had it in his mind that we would get all dressed up and go out... so that's a really good change in him. So anyway, he may not be perfect, but he fits.

I am celebrating a few weeks of freedom! The family is on vacation and I have the home all to myself... ahh. Also, I am HALFWAY finished with my Anniversary Anthology.

Are you wanting a person we know personally who we admire for their accomplishments and attributes? Personally I would have to say David. He's in his first year working after completing his residency and medical school and shadowing and such as a full fledged doctor in one of the best hospitals in the state. I admire all the challenges and stress he goes through. He gets a lot of rewarding aspects, but also a lot of stress and sadness in his line of work, still though he moves forward every day. He has his hardships dealing with a lifestyle like that, but he has learned to manage them and he offers me the time I desire from him with no complaining, so what can I say.. lol.. I admire him a lot for what he does, but I'm biased 'cause I love him. Another person I admire is my Physical Therapy division chairwoman. She is extremely warm and intelligent in her field. She is accomplished as a physical therapist as well as a professor. Her accomplishments intimidated the hell out of me until I got to know her, she has been very helpful and I have succeeded well above my own expectations in this field with her help. She calls me her bothersome brat because I'm always calling her up and asking her things, but deep down I think she enjoys it.. lol.. Well she's told me that she does and she called me a few times over the summer to make sure I was still practicing and reading up.. I have her for three classes next semester and she said she's going to be pretty brutal.

Lol Michelle.. Welcome to GA! And, let Joe regret it all he wants. I like writing and being hosted here, that includes doing the anthologies. Live chat is nice and addicting, and I enjoy the sense of community the place has as well. I've made some friends, met some amazing people, and I've enjoyed myself a lot here this year. Hate to see it change in any way.

My avatar is getting old. I should really think about getting another one now. The other one was of a blue flower and the rain one is only because I thought it looked pretty, no real reason behind it I guess. I haven't found that perfect one that fit my personality yet, but I'll keep looking. Krista

People are already annoying me with their Fireworks, and we don't have any close neighbors so I'm having to go investigate to see if they're actually on their land or mine.. bleh.. and I'll actually be alone for the 4th of July. My family have officially started their Vacation to Hawaii. So this holiday has always been my favorite for that reason. I don't have to cook for a lot of people or light those scary fireworks off in the field.... shew.. So I'll definitely be going out with David some since he's taking the whole first full week of July away from work. Just sitting around and relaxing will be quite nice.

Any positive change small or large is a step in the right direction Timmy. Just keep up the good work.

I think gay and straight people have times where they've fallen in love or just had a small crush on their best friend, I don't think it's overly represented here. Nope. Lol. One reason it may be talked about in the GLBT community more is because there is less a chance those feelings will be reciprocated unless both people are gay. In the straight community it's more open for discussion. Also, since the "best" friend role is typically the same sex as the person like I would say for the longest time Cassie and Jamie (the one with boobs), and Melodie were my best friends until later in high school when Derek, Greg, and Jason moved into those positions. (The girls were off dating all the time so I had to have someone amuse me). It has happened to my group of friends a lot. My friend Cass married to Rex, Jamie married Blake, and Melodie married Josh. All of which are in our core group of friends and have been there since like kindergarten.. small town and all. Best friends are your best friends for a reason, you have the most in common, you trust them with everything you hold dear the most, you spend the most time together out of all your other friends. So a best friend is someone highly attractive and when hormones kick in those attributes are definitely expressed further. That depends on a lot of things Kevin. It could so be an eHaromony/Hallmark moment or a hellish nightmare. Best friends who usually fall in love is pretty romantic. Always together after meeting to being in love, being in love with your best friend can be a really strong and passionate relationship. As one would know what makes the other one tick and such. Knowing someone and being that attached could be pretty amazing. On the other end dating your best friend could be extremely complicated. You know so much about them and you feel so strongly for them once problems in the relationship arise they probably tend to be more intense and detrimental to the relationship. Also, once that relationship ends either way that person is probably no longer your best friend there would just be too much baggage and losing your best friend is usually a huge loss.

Aww, the romantic in you Kevin.. shew.. and no shopping!? Anyway on to my perfect wedding. First I'd want to be completely surprised by the engagement, which means if I want to marry David he had better not tell his Mommy his plans because she's a big gossip and I'd be told before he could get from his house to mine, which is not really a 20 minute drive away. On to the actual wedding, I want to be married outside. I want a small wedding with just family members and really close friends in attendance. I would hope that David's family all be there. I've not really met them since their family is so spread out over the country, well world, he has some family members that live in Australia. So I would want to meet every member of his family. I already have the dress, it's a dress I bought when I was preparing my wedding to Jared. I still think it's the perfect dress for my wedding. As for the place, I would want to be married in the spring, during a sunny day. The wind can be blowing slightly, actually I would like for it to be blowing a slight breeze, just enough to keep people cool and to cause the flowers, balloons, my hair to blow. I want my Mom to give me away. I do though want the chairs for the guests to be sitting on stone as well as where I would be walking when I make my entrance. It doesn't have to be permanently placed just placed there for the wedding and then taken up again as I would like to be married in my back yard. I want all my friends to be my bridesmaids, and have navy blue dresses that flow no gaudy large ruffled mess, just little simple dresses. I would prefer David wear a black tux, I don't like a white tux. I'd want an adventurous honey moon. I discussed an African safari for a week and a half. We have all the time in the world for romance.. lol.

His Cliffhangers can't be THAT bad, could it be possible you're all overreacting? I'll have to read and see for myself.

Krista is the 'nickname' that I came up for myself when I found that I disliked my name. I've been using it since like Middle school and everyone but my Mother and Scott call me Krista... Sometimes it may take me a few times to actually respond to Christina.. lol. Maybe one of these days I'll get my name legally changed to Krista, but I am growing fond of Christina the older I get.
