Eh.. The VMA's as an awards show is a lost cause really.. I don't think it will ever rebound as a show really. One of the nominees had a temper tantrum when he didn't win any of his five nominations (Kanye West?) Oh well. Britney shouldn't have been hungover then expect to put on an A-Class dance performance (since she doesn't sing). Anyway, I think she was doing it to shut people up, but really, it only made people talk more. I just don't think she should have been judged so harshly by the likes of 50 Cent who has a jaded past as well. I dislike the VMA's but for some reason I do watch a bit of them every year... lol I'll make a point to boycott it from now on though. Krista

I believe accepting who you are is the most difficult one and the most important. It takes most of a person's life to accept who they are out-right. You also change, learn, and grow and some of that you may not like at first or understand or even accept. There are also a lot of environmental and outside pressures that could hinder your acceptance. It's also extremely difficult to accept your faults when all you really want to remember your successes and good qualities. Anyway, so I voted for that one as it seems to have the most work towards accomplishing that. A lot of people don't. I also don't think you can "choose" your partner. It's a lot more than just choosing, it just kind of happens or it just kinda doesn't.. lol. Krista

Hi, As a straight person, I believe it isn't just a gay vs. straight issue. It goes both ways, it's not brain washing, and I do think people are entitled to their beliefs, even if they are completely different from your own. It's not brain washing as you say. There are also church members as well as politicians that will happily accept a homosexual person just as easily as a heterosexual person. Please exclude groups of people when you're expressing an opinion as groups of people may not share the same views. There is such a thing called, Heterophobia and it's just as bad. Krista

This is a lovely article and a well written essay through her life and the changes in views. I think this is a good little article. I feel bad for the Mother, but I do think it happens a lot. I mean, my friends who've been together for about six years are finally wanting to get married. They can't because this is Kentucky.. and such.. so realistically they will have to move or be patient and "hope" for a long standing tradition to be "redefined" to be more accepting.
