    I’m still confused re grandfather’s axe! But I’m pretty tired after a journey to the ‘Coast of Death’ today! (look up Muxía) And as for mentioning the Floral Dance, I will be getting my voodoo dolls out if I hear it in my head tonight.

    This is a great recommendation, @Cia. it is an exquisite tale of humanity’s need to respect our world, told through the story of an uprooted tree. It is a jewel.

    qn 1: it depends of the level of the title but as a minimum they become ‘the honorable’ for boy up until sons of marquesses when they become ‘’Lord Gary Lysaght” , for example; for girls. They get ‘Lady Melania” from an earlier stage. All except the male heir who gets an honorary subsidiary title, if there is one. qn 2 NO. ( nor does the gay husband of a titled person even though married qn 3 in the hands of our esteemed author! Except for legal proceedings in the uk. Aussie rules are for the Aussies 😜

    Wow! My stay in a Philippe S hotel in Miami Beach wasn’t as exciting! Sterile, white room, with a shower that flooded the whole bathroom every day. But oh, the green apple made all the difference! a really fun story with human pain towards the end. Sad it finishes tomorrow. thank you!

    Greetings from a very rainy Galicia and El Ferrol! By car on pretty good motorways it is a long day’s drive from Madrid to The North west. My back was killing me but going by carriage, my goodness. An excellent, evocative chp. Thank you mark. @drpaladin tells us there are fourteen months of peace, I fear for @PrivateTim‘s mental state when we calculate how many chps till Granger is back on the deck of a frigate!

    A friend flies to San Francisco with his toy boy in May. Thinking of a treat he rang BA to ask about cost of upgrading to Business class. $9000 each, each way. They are staying in cattle class!

    Nothing like a great read to cheer one as the rain bounces off the roof of your holiday rental. A v satisfying chp which will mean going back over earlier parts to get everything as clear as Robert allows!!! v enjoyable start to the day.

    Perfectly put. I’ve never read these authors but I have read some really great stuff on this site, so as a reader I’m content. As a budding author I have to accept that things go slowly. I too don’t want to do certain content, not rejecting those who do, but it ain’t me!

    I had the great fortune to be taught at university by some radical feminists- they opened my eyes and ears… if still alive they would cry at what is happening for women’s rights.

    Wow, you guys did your Shakespeare! In Sixth form (17-18) in uk we only did three subjects for A levels during two years ( now a bit broader). Guys doing double maths and physics had 16 hours a week of maths and 8 of physics. I didn’t do English A but was allowed to go on English outings to see Shakespeare plays at Chichester theatre. I was so lucky

    I was a student at a a UK grammar school (state school but entrance via exam at 11). Looking back it was an amazing school, except for the English dept still stuck in pre/post WW2 style. Friday morning poetry test: lose 0.5 for punctuation error, 1 point per word error. This guy destroyed any possible love of poetry. This was back in 1969-70 and I can recapture my hatred of him in a flash. luckily I had a rebel teacher for O level (16 yrs old) and we did Richard III, Chaucer’s Prologue to Canterbury Tales (in Medieval English) and 7 Victorian short stories. All line by line. Tough but a great learning experience.

    We went to Cabo prioriño near Ferrol ( NW Spain) this morning. Wonderful crashing Atlantic waves below us. And the sun finally came out for a couple of hours! As for rest of the week, don’t ask!!!

    Not sure you will like this, though, Tim: on news today only 35% of Spanish women now consider themselves to be ‘feminists’. The adjective “feminista” is frequently used as an insult by followers of certain political parties and also by ignorant high school lads. Shameful.

    I think ‘Master’ is the correct title, as in ‘Master of the GA universe’!!!
