  1. Very enjoyable trip to Southwold both for characters and for readers!
  2. Thank you! And once you’re retired like me then it’s a yearlong celebration…… until the money runs out 😱or Paco puts me into a care facility!
  3. So clocks go back an hour at 02.00 Sunday, which means my birthday will, once again, be twenty-five hours long 🎉. Not that there will be wild partying, of course, someone here has a tummy bug and it’s not the wieners or me…..
  4. Yep, that’s a weinerdog talking!
  5. So…. Trip to mountains 90 miles away to be hit by amazing autumn colours. Thousands upon thousands of poplar trees had turned a delicate shade of yellow. We went with three friends. Normally, this is my idea of Hell as I don’t play too well in the sand pit…But… Since one, sadly, has terminal pancreatic cancer, even I had to up my game. A breakdown in the other car meant we were up and down mountains in a small Peugeot 208: 5 adults, two wieners and me as only driver. it was an amazing few days. Our friend is so positive, so out to enjoy everything, it was contagious. I was on best behaviour, even though I lost nearly every game of dominoes 😭. There was, however, something really strange. Our dogs know the others well and fuss over them a bit when they come to dinner or we all go on beach walk. However, Lilibeth became obsessed with Amparo and sat with her all day and at night threw crying tantrums at the door of our room as she wanted to get to Amparo. It was as if she detected that A was v ill. Weird but moving. Have a great weekend everyone, ps @kbois we left at 8° and now in Valencia it’s 28°/82°F. So I’m it shorts, tee and sandals again!
  6. Second only to wiener dogs!
  7. Or @chris191070……..
  8. I had the good fortune to read this some weeks ago, and really enjoyed it. The writing is almost mesmerising as we are drawn closer and closer into the drama which approaches. Highly recommended.

    Chapter 1

    A great read!
  10. So long as there is not a long recovery period which could cause psychological distress to hundreds of avid readers….. If we win “el Gordo” lottery here I will treat you!
  11. A great feel good moment xxxxx
  12. Ah, I wasn’t thinking of glitter… I realized at work a few yrs ago that when people greeted me I would reply at best, “not bad, and you”?” Thus allowing us to start the day with a moan and groan session. I decided one day to reply, “Sparkling, thank you, and you?”, even if I felt like sh*t. You know what, it worked. I became famous for being Mr smiley in the mornings….. Now I’m retired I don’t give a damn….. 😆

    The Funeral

Sorry, but when Brad and JP agree like this you know they are being a pair of wankers.* Goodness, I almost like Jeremiah… * please excuse British slang….

    The Funeral

Yes, and I remember a comment about “enough of the sailor boy” many moons ago…..
  15. I had the pleasure of reading this early and thoroughly enjoyed it, although it being outside of my usual range. There are some lovely moments included in a tough tale. Highly recommended. Well done @lawfulneutralmage!

  16. Sorry you guys are having a rough time with the virus/“bicho”. Unfortunately, these type of things have to run their course with palliative TLC. HOPE YOU WILL BE SPARKLING AGAIN SOON!!!

    Cursed

Hi dr S. It was the first I took. On second dose I was nearly killed (dr’s judgment). I had a terrible pulmonary reaction. Drs were arguing in front of me, like an episode of house…. Finally my local GP in village health center told me, “You don’t have bronchitis, you are allergic to what they are giving you….” 13 weeks off work and was told, “You’ve been lucky…”. Still, I have escaped the operations. I think of your friend’s son often. warm regards

    Cursed

It appears that Entyvia is now having a toxic effect on my liver, so bye bye to another biologic…. Still, I’m hugely grateful for the free treatments I have received over many years here in Spain.

    Deeper Dive

Yes, very creepy. As ever, the joy of the anthologies is being encouraged as a reader (and author?) to break out from the safe genres we tend to stick to. So yes, v creepy but v enjoyable. Well done !

    Family Life

    A. Watching the wonderful Gary Oldman in Slow Horses and thinking back decades to that wonderful film. Interestingly, perhaps, for my mother’s generation “Paki” wasn’t an intentional insult but rather a nickname like the “Jewboys in the diamond district”. It was hard explaining to her that she shouldn’t use such terms!

I’m looking forward to @Summerabbacat’s incisive comments on dear Con……. Lisa looks fun, he doesn’t.
  24. Welcome! As a fellow fan of Robert H it’s good to see you here! The rules about sexual content are quite clear. You can see all the labels in the description page/ table of contents. Just because a story has “mature content” doesn’t mean it’s necessarily going to be full of sexual content. Looking forward to seeing your comments on Robert’s stories. regards Gary

There are carrots, onion, celery, garlic and some peas and corn. I'm hoping i can squeeze out a couple of hundred words before dog walking in 30 minutes My mother and sister love/d turkey soup after Christmas. They put barley and lentils (vomit) to ruin it! A wierd day - to hospital expecting to get terrible blood results after a v indulgent trip through Burgundy, France. Imagine my surprise to be greeted by “I don’t know what you have done but the bloods are marvellous.” Can’t be my results, I’m sure. However, it looks like the biologics for colitis are turning toxic on liver. Win some, lose some. Overall, I’m in a good place today.
