  1. I fear the last answer. Not a fan of hers. The content was not as worrying as the title. I fear our esteemed author wanted to give his loyal readers a moment’s fear!!! Naughty…
  2. There is an excellent story on this site about him in Brighton.

    Prologue SO

This resonates with me too. I attended three primary/elementary schools all over England, one of them twice. At the age of 10 the lad from Manchester landed in Kent, s of London, to be ridiculed for his weird accent. Fortunately I survived but shed many tears as the outsider. Secondary education, at least was in one school and an excellent one at that. great writing
  4. Shucks, my run of luck has run out. This is a new one for me. Thanks
  5. @Mrsgnomie, I too have come back for a reread of, now, four of your stories. Whilst I loved the buzz of the weekly installments and the great “crac” in the comments, reading them through without distractions made me realise just how good the stories are and the intricacies of their plots. Above all, I think the most enjoyable part is seeing your characters growing through some pretty rough patches and reaching the other side. May the muse be with you! Love from sunny Valencia, Gary ps I too have started writing but with baby steps!
  6. Totally agree with this excellent analysis. The change over (makeover) from the awful JJ (in my view) to the maturing rapidly Jeremy has been a pleasure to read. Great writing, of course, v clever storyline and yet with the odd flash of the JJ of old. Brilliant!
  7. Any chance of your meatloaf recipe, Wayne? The meal sounds wonderful. I’m drooling at the thought of eating it!
  8. A short, bitter-sweet tale, which sadly reflects the bigotry instilled in so many sports. Well-written and the story breathes the spirit of Comicality.

  9. So more insight into the “Prickly Poet”! A v good read as the characters become more and more fleshed out. Vince is a revelation, I bet Freddy can’t believe it…

That is depressing to read @Thirdly! Though I look forward to reading it. I have to get started but real life creatures, the weiners take up so much time. 001 has just chewed her way through her car safely belt and appears proud of her achievement…..
  13. Did you forget your medication this morning?
  14. You are not alone, my friend…. Greetings from the sickbay. Lilibeth has pulled off and eaten two dressings after blood test this morning where she won an Oscar for screaming, howling and screeching, and that was before the first attempt to insert a needle… finally owners were sent out and veterinary reinforcements were called in., shameful
  15. No matter how great the trip groceries (and laundry) always are waiting….. A great few days for our heroes.. Another very good read. Thank you!
  16. An interesting day…. 09.00 trapped in lift with the weinerdogs. Managed to escape after 10 min as one dog started to cry. Technician came out and put out of order sign up (holiday here in Valencia). As we carried dogs up flights of stairs we found out that power was off in most of Spain. Nine hours later it’s on but patchy internet. Hundreds were trapped in lifts, train tunnels etc etc. uff.
  17. Yep, I stayed awake! Now for the read. Thanks @Mark Arbour 🥰 Is it just me or is everything going too well at the moment, relationship wise? I’m nervous…..😬

I’m trying to stay awake but I’m sleepy 🥱
  19. I totally agree, a delightful chapter and a reminder of my visit to Chatsworth many years ago. I wonder what they would have thought of the Lucien Freud paintings! Not quite what I expected …
  20. “Despite the unfamiliar surroundings and a bed they’d never slept in before, the two fell asleep promptly.” The sleep of the just!
  21. A lot of good things packed in here. V enjoyable, indeed!!
  22. Ummmm. They know what they want, that’s true!
  23. Once, and I spent three hours crying my heart out and then slept like a log whilst my bf couldn’t sleep for worrying about my reaction.
  24. “Obstinacy” - a defining ‘quality’ of Dachshunds (weinerdogs) such that mules etc. are compliant in comparison.
