Chapter 63 - "Everything Evolves In Time"
NimirRaj commented on Comicality's story chapter in Chapter 63 - "Everything Evolves In Time"
Great to get a new chapter. Good to see Randy getting more confident in coming out to his mom and sorta kinda maybe did if in a roundabout way. Who hasn’t beaten around the bush when coming out to someone? He’ll be more blunt when he’s ready. It’s kinda sweet in that I think Ariel was acting as if he felt he was cheating on Tyler just by going into Randy’s house though now I’m starting to worry even more about how he’ll react to Tyler’s past relationship(s). I mean he already feels inferior to nonexistent competition and is unknowingly sensing Tyler‘s lingering feelings over his breakup so I don’t know how he’s going to react to the idea Tyler once dated two guys at once. Just seems like it’ll give him a major inferiority complex and yet Tyler is not good at hiding his emotions when around his exes so he definitely needs to come clean eventually as otherwise Ariel is going to find out some other way. Can’t wait to see how things unfold and hopefully Randy can help boost Ariel’s confidence. -
So many questions so little answers. Things aren’t going to be peaceful anytime soon and poor Adan can’t have any privacy even in his dreams. Life of a noble isn’t enviable.

People with torches and pitchforks... Isn't this what knights & security are for? Don't bring a pitchfork to a sword fight. Just have an archer fire a few arrows....having them uh miss of course 🙈 and I bet those protesters would decide they'd rather go roast marshmallows.

Wow, doesn't take long for Harry to get over being nervous and shy does it? I wonder how long till Harry's mom figures out there's more going on than modeling as I guess that depends on how busy her job keeps her as Harry is likely not going to be very talented at being discreet.
-
Earlier in the story Adan made some comment to himself that loving your familiar was only right, Dennet essentially told him not to listen to the public but do what made him happy hinting at the fact he supported the relationship, etc. but sadly Adan is allowing prejudice to ruin his happiness. In all this I also feel a massive amount of pity for Roku as most probably don't even see him as an individual rather he's probably seen as a pet and he's forced to watch as even Adan seems to publicly agree that their feelings for each other are wrong even if he is only saying that to appease others. I find the ring significant as it seems to imply Adan's father is giving is blessing towards him having Roku as his lover yet Adan likely fails to see it that way despite seemingly acknowledging that the design of the ring seems to imply that Roku is his true consort. I wish Adan had the balls to do whatever he wants and date Roku openly because as far as we know it's not illegal. So some people don't like it well let them whine. If he's worried about embarrassing the father he's never known until now...I'm sure he'll get over it and if he's worried it'll somehow prevent him becoming king one day well it's not like he really even wants the job anyway rather he seems to be doing it because he feels obligated. As far as the the need for a biological heir goes...I understand that but at the same time if Adan believes he can figure out a way to use magic to change someone's gender can't he figure out a way to impregnate someone without the need for sex? The latter seems easier by comparison and would probably make Roku feel a lot better.

I think I'm automatically biased as while like Jake I like my phone and other tech I'm an introvert with a similar personality & interests as Kyle so I'm automatically rooting for him. lol The Ryan situation feels realistic as their relationship ended for legitimate reasons and after that it seems natural that they'd probably drift apart especially after he kinda goes from geek to jock. Not remotely shocked that Danny has given up the whole idea of even really dating and is just seeking out sex for right now as it seems only natural and I'm also not surprised that he's only hooking up with girls...as far as we know. Shocked yet glad that he has the mind to shut down Jake's hints at them hooking possibly hooking up again as that just sounds like it'd lead to trouble down the road. I wonder if Danny will try to convince Jake that dating Kyle is a bad idea or try to mess up their relationship considering his massive personal dislike for the guy.

Considering he mentions a government contract we know it's government connected yet Gramps seems to work for an interesting "plant". I mean instead of at the office or a medical setting Gramps takes a DNA sample at home which in and of itself a DNA sample isn't standard procedure for your average plant, he has Jimmy sign the documents at his home rather than the office which despite it being his grandfather still feels a little irregular as the professional thing would be to take him to the office, and then after a simple phone call two men suddenly show up to collect both... What is this place, a cover for the CIA?

Ok, wow I'm a little late in commenting and I'm kinda glad as I made a major error in my reading the other day. Somehow, mostly because it came out of nowhere, when Jack called Jeff his boyfriend I actually somehow read that the other way around as in I thought Jeff had called Jack his boyfriend with Jack being surprised. I mean I know Jeff wanted to date Jack and Tracy was trying to persuade Jack to date Jeff while saying he'd be fine with their relationship going from friends with benefits to just friends if the two of them stated dating, though then having sex with Jack while kinda acting like that conversation never happened seemed counterproductive at the time. Still, I hadn't realized Jack had finally decided he wanted to date Jeff himself as he seemed reluctant likely because he wasn't ready to settle down with one boy after just beginning to experience sex not that I can blame him when remaining single was at the least resulting in him having regular sex with two cute guys sometimes at the same time. The Jimmy blowjob moment came out of left field so in Jack's defense even if he already started to see Jeff as his boyfriend no way I'm blaming him for what went down...no pun intended. I do feel sorry for Jeff as he goes from getting what he wants out of nowhere to finding out Jack essentially cheated on him already. I also feel for Jimmy because he's just coming to terms with his sexuality and it was clear he was jealous of Jeff even before finding out he's supposedly dating Jack so I can see him being really thrown for a loop with this curve-ball. Still, he kinda was able to push his jealousy to the side because if the boyfriend bombshell hadn't been dropped I'm pretty sure he was trying to start a threesome which probably would have shocked both Jeff & Jack especially considering how homophobic Jimmy has been in the past. I'm not sure if we have a triangle or a rectangle going on as I don't know where Tracy falls into this whole thing.

Christopher seemed like a nice guy and while I don't see any harm in him having eyes I kinda hope it doesn't go any further than that. Not certain Harry with his low self-esteem could handle Christopher if he started to cross the line though perhaps with Alex in the picture things wont go that route especially as Alex is probably way more aware of such things so he's probably capable of noticing the signs of anything "fishy" going on. Of course lets be frank and say that despite how pervy it sounds Christopher noticing Harry's body just doesn't come off as a big deal to me, especially considering it's technically part of his job to notice such things, as that just means he has eyes and doesn't really mean he'll even consider crossing that line rather it would just be kinda stereotypical if he did.
-
Danny disgusts me because originally I chalked it all up to confusion regarding his coming to terms with being bi as well as a desire to live a "straight" life yet now it just seems like he's being manipulative. I mean they have sex, he tries to convince Jake they did nothing wrong which is baloney, he has that unfinished sentence about Ryan being a nice guy but...as if I dunno he was going to say he was better than him or that it was once again no big deal, they have sex again with his "smooth" line of he'd stop if Jake wanted him to yet he knew Jake didn't want that when Jake says they shouldn't, etc. After the first time they have sex he also tells Jake he sees no future where they end up married or in a relationship because Jake can't give him something he wants yet now suddenly he's proclaimed they are soulmates. He then follows his claims that he loves Jake and that they're soulmates with getting together with a new girl as per usual despite claiming nothing was going to happen as he wasn't interested in a girlfriend only to predictably admit before the night was over that they did have sex. If Danny is being remotely serious when he's making these claims rather than just being manipulative it's because he doesn't understand the difference between lust, love, and friendship. i can't see how he could possibly truly love Jake and ugh I hate how this mess all went down with Ryan simply because of teenage hormones. I hope they can mend their relationship going forward yet once again as soon as the latest girl is gone Danny will be looking for Jake to warm his bed again especially now that they've gone all the way so that's likely going to keep messing things up. Heck, as crazy as it sounds I can even imagine Danny seeking Ryan out for friends with benefits, except they aren't friends, and possibly adding even more drama to the chaotic situation considering he's clearly ruled by his lower brain. Can't say Ryan would say yes to that offer but wow that would be one brain shattering situation for Jake as on one hand he honestly might like the arrangement and on the other he would likely be jealous...though the question would be of who? I'm not saying this is all on Danny as clearly Jake is at fault too, but considering Jake in the past clearly had developed a crush on Danny it just feels like Danny is easier to see as the bad guy especially as he's repeatedly, until now, seemed to say what was happening would never be more than sex to him. Doesn't help with the whole hooking up with someone else thing within a extremely short period of time despite the claims of love and soulmates because while I get that they're horny teens it just seems like a slap in the face to say something like that only to let your actions express the contrary to your words. Yes, you could use soulmates in a non-romantic sense I suppose but he also used the word love so I'm pretty sure that if his feelings for Jake were real then he'd be a little more capable of keeping it in his pants where others are concerned...not that Jake was able to. Neither one of these boys are saints in the least and they're going to make plenty of mistakes in the future I'm sure. I can understand Danny being confused and possibly despite his recent behavior still having some internalized homophobia so I'm trying to give him some slack yet it isn't easy.
-
Ugh, I kinda agree that as a writer you're coming off as a major tease with these short chapters. 😄 Still, we now have been introduced to Richie and we saw the attraction was at first eyesight on Jimmy's part even if he perhaps doesn't consciously realize it yet. The story seems to have a lot of potential so I can't wait to see how it unfolds.

Chapter 18 Rhythm and Blues
NimirRaj commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 18 Rhythm and Blues
I like seeing this side of Chase as he in my opinion needs to stand on his own and Hank is seemingly wanting to try to get back what he's lost way too fast. I just get the vibe he''s now wanting Chase back yet he can't just act as though it never happened yet his disappointment Chase didn't want to go back to his place just infers that he was hopeful Chase would be as eager as he likely is to start over. I can see them getting back together eventually, even if I don't necessarily think it's for the best, but it's going to be different than it was. Based on their conversation about his mom I think Hank is still a little hard headed and just hasn't changed enough to make the relationship work the way it should if they got back together now. He needs a little more therapy. Of course the scene in the bar "may" put a different spin on things because Chase might be feeling vulnerable and Hank surely heard his outburst so I can see it triggering some intense emotions as I can't imagine his reaction now that he's come to know that what he saw wasn't consensual. Hank though...to be frank, as crazy as it sounds, I can actually imagine him potentially being a little angry at Chase by possibly accusing Chase of failing to tell him it wasn't consensual as if Hank would have believed him. Of course Chase was too drunk to remember and I doubt Hank would make such an accusation anyway if he has any common sense...but some cynical part of my mind couldn't help going there. I guess we'll see what happens when it happens. -
Ugh, now I feel even more sorry for Ryan as Jake felt remorseful and Danny once again told him he didn’t see them ever in a relationship essentially saying it’s just sex(technically he seems to say it’s more than sex but then says he can’t see them in a relationship because in the manner of a typical straight thinking brain Danny believes Jake can’t give him something a woman can) so I thought with those two factors Jake would be able to resist making the same mistake twice. Still, Jake sadly gave into his lust once again and Danny was not exactly in my mind being a good friend when he seemingly has no intentions of taking this relationship further yet was trying to convince Jake what they’re doing isn’t wrong along with that line - Danny sighed. “Look, I think Ryan’s a nice guy too, but…” just makes me think poorly of him. I’m not sure Ryan would exactly care if Jake has Danny’s support in telling him he cheated on him nor do I think Danny is being that supportive considering being supportive wouldn’t be trying to talk him out of coming clean not to mention it would involve not screwing him again. 🤦🏻♂️ With the way Jake can’t say no and the way Danny has no intention of resisting his own urges I sadly see the relationship with Ryan potentially being utterly destroyed as I would predict Jake cheating on him repeatedly in the future if something doesn’t change. I mean you can potentially forgive someone for cheating on you once and maybe he might even forgive him for the second time though how could he trust Jake being alone with Danny going forward when he has so little self control? Of course knowing Danny he could once again get himself a girlfriend as soon as they get back from band camp or even before they leave, though we know that probably won’t last a month.

This chapter is short but fairly informative. Obviously from the description of the story along with the source(this site isn't filled with many hetero main characters) we know Jimmy is gay or bi yet it seems like we aren't the only ones to realize this. Jimmy was surprised to learn his brother has a boyfriend yet his own comments to his mom about how he'll be leaving soon as well as how he's not afraid of his dad gives the impression that Jimmy's mom may know he's gay as well due to his feeling a need to comfort her in such a way plus the letter his brother gave him as well as the cash implies he's worried about him as if Brand is also aware Jimmy is gay/bi. It's interesting yet not surprising that due to the age difference that Jimmy might have missed some clues as to his brothers sexuality yet his brother on the other hand would have potentially seen evidence Jimmy himself isn't exactly someone his dad would like having around. I could be reading more into some things as his dad's aggressive reaction on it's own regardless of Jimmy's sexual orientation could have his brother & mom concerned about him. Regardless it's nice to know that when push comes to shove Jimmy can rely on his brother & Charles.

Not to sound cynical but with everything seemingly going so well I expected this to happen eventually, though I didn't anticipate Jake being the instigator. My problem isn't with the fact these two had sex as unlike the past there's some hints Danny could desire more than just sex making it seem less likely for Jake to get hurt in the end not to mention this time Jake may see this as only sex himself but the circumstances in which it happened are far from ideal. I mean most of all I feel sorry for Ryan as he seems like a very sweet guy and I don't like the fact Jake supposedly sought Danny out for sex to fulfill some need due to how upset he was as that just makes it look like an act of convenience for once on Jake's part. Not to mention despite it only being a one time thing it does remind you a little bit of Jake's dad as I personally am definitely not a fan of infidelity and I can imagine his dad using lines to justify his cheating such as needing it, claiming it was a moment of passion, it was a one time thing, etc. which all could be things Jake may say to justify his actions(he already described it as something he "needed"). To be fair there hasn't been a discussion as far we know where Jake & Ryan have officially defined their relationship as exclusive but it's something most would typically assume as Jake considers Ryan his boyfriend. I have a feeling Ryan won't be massively shocked as he's likely expected they've had sex in the past but he will likely be disappointed "if" he finds out what happened. Ah the stereotypical sex at band camp. On a different note I kinda feel for Jake's reaction to Mr. Reilly's outburst as it seems way over the top and he seems a little emotionally unstable. I haven't read the original story to know everything he went through but the fact at one point he seemingly had to grip his necklace to calm down as well as how worked up he gets just makes it appear as if he has massive anger management issues. I can understand being aggravated at their poor performance especially in the case of those who were in the band the year before nor do I think it was wrong for them to tell them off yet he's just a little over the top. Being passionate about something is great but with him as the band director I can see students not even wanting to be in the band going forward though his attitude outside of band practice definitely helps to soften his rough edges. This doesn't mean I approve of Jake's outburst as he definitely shouldn't talk to a teacher that way but I can sympathize with his feelings. Part of the problem is like Danny deep down Jake has begun to allow his relationship with Mr. Reilly outside of practice impact him to the point where it bothers him a lot to be criticized so harshly because he seems them as friends. Like Danny it's going to take a major adjustment for Jake to take this harsh yet somewhat deserved criticism from someone he sees as a friend, though as I previously stated I think this criticism isn't completely constructive or beneficial.

Chapter 32 - The Wheels On The Bus
NimirRaj commented on Comicality's story chapter in Chapter 32 - The Wheels On The Bus
Jesse 101 is getting really popular and he's known as a gay YouTuber so I'm not remotely shocked Scotty knows who he is. In fact I'm actually more surprised that Tristan is shocked Scotty recognized him. Part of me is wondering if Scotty's "mistake" in the naming of Jesse's channel was on purpose as if he was implying that his channel wasn't that memorable or was just trying to insult him a little due to what is likely to be some jealousy. I mean considering the thousands of commentators he didn't necessarily see Tristan's comment on Jesse's vid but even without it even though he has no proof so far Tristan is actually gay he's obviously hoping he is so finding out his "friend" is a cute, gay internet celebrity would make anybody nervous as he has to be worried that Jesse is a rival that he likely sees as someone he can't beat(although he may try). Honestly I already saw this at least starting off badly as Scotty was likely going to end up heartbroken when he eventually realizes that Tristan is trying to set him up with Artie as he'll be faced with the fact Tristan isn't interested in him plus how long did Tristan think it'd take for Scotty to realize he's gay once they were around Jesse & Artie? One way or another the fact the two of them are dating was bound to come out and in the past Tristan was concerned about coming out to Scotty as he felt that would give him the mistaken impression that a relationship between them was possible. Despite the fact Scotty doesn't even know for sure Tristan is gay it hasn't stopped him from flirting though and he's going to have to find out eventually so I guess it's good it's all coming out. Hopefully he'll hit it off with Artie and be able to move on though it'll probably be a slow progress. -
This is a sweet chapter and I am beginning to wonder if Shane's mom has any suspicions about their relationship. I know it's evil of me yet a deep, dark part of me is wishing that while I don't want her to walk in on anything sexual I am beginning to wish Sarah would catch them in a compromising position. Even if it's something as tame as a kiss I'm just waiting for her to freak out...though part of me then would be worried for Shane as she might out him in a moment of jealousy which could negatively impact his life. I mean I don't recall if we've been giving any hints as to how accepting others might be and I don't even remember anything about Shane's friends being mentioned in terms of whether they even exist so I don't know how being outed could potentially impact him. I think Shane like a typical young boy is being overly dramatic involving his embarrassment over his mom not to mention how easily he allows his sister to irritate him as he's being too thin skinned for the most part and yet for once I think his mom was a bit unfair in her scolding him for not wanting his sister to post a video of them online. I can only assume she wasn't fully listening in the first place to what her daughter said and she also wasn't remotely embarrassed about it herself I'm sure so she probably saw her son as overreacting. In Shane's defense I think he had a right to object to a video of him being posted online without his permission and I think she should have mediated the situation instead of just scolded him. Still, that's parent's for you lol
-
I suppose it’s sort of an interesting duality as despite sharing the similarity of their parents being divorced Ryan’s parents get along with each other better than ever post divorce yet are upset about his being gay while Jake’s parents are still at each other’s throats post divorce yet are accepting of him being gay. I’m a little bit curious how Danny’s parents feel about him being bi or if they’ve heard the rumors yet as we haven’t exactly gotten any clues as to how they might react. Overall I’d expect his parents to be fine with it but you never know. As a whole it seemed like a sweet chapter as there was no drama between Jake & Danny as things seemed to be going well between them plus it’s surprising yet nice Danny is beginning to accept who he is. Some of his comments still have a tinge of internalized homophobia or self-hate considering he references his attraction to both sexes as there being something wrong with him. Both Lydia & Justin are just pathetic as Lydia’s reply of “Not exactly.” when asked about Danny possibly doing “gay stuff” was her outing him regardless of her view on it and Justin definitely knew his comment was going to get spread around the school as he’s not that naive. I want to think Lydia wasn't being malicious based on what she told Jake as on the surface it seems unintentional, but I’m not sure. No matter how she downplays it she causally outed Danny and yes maybe Jake is known by many to be gay despite not being officially out yet her reply to his question of why didn’t she tell people about what he’d done with Danny makes me feel like she was making a minor excuse as to why she outed Danny yet not Jake. Still, I’m probably reading too much into it. Ryan is sweet so I hope the old forbidden fruit doesn’t cause any more problems going forward. Still, Jake has had a taste and now that Danny is starting to accept his sexuality I have a feeling things aren’t likely to be smooth sailing indefinitely.

Chapter 135 Brotherly Love
NimirRaj commented on Dodger's story chapter in Chapter 135 Brotherly Love
Robbie has little self control and even less backbone. He needs to actually talk to Conner yet instead he’s using alcohol to get himself in the mood as well as doing his best to avoid bottoming and while Conner seems pushy things might get better if they actually talked. Because they don’t talk Robbie actually ends up looking more like a jerk between the two especially with him blatantly flirting with Nathan. I mean how can Conner understand he’s making Robbie uncomfortable if they don’t talk? I see multiple people hoping Robbie gets back with Nathan yet all of Nathan’s shameless flirting and disrespect towards Conner just annoys me to put it lightly so I still don’t think he’s the right person for Robbie. I think Conner has potential but if it’s partially about physical compatibility if Conner considers himself 100% a top he’s unlikely to change for Robbie plus I honestly don’t see beyond the fact he’s currently available why Conner wouldn’t eventually dump him as he’s not the most excellent boyfriend. I’m not saying Conner is the one but I wish he’d actually try to make things work rather than just barely going through the motions of a relationship. As far as Alex goes...while I know Robbie doesn’t want him to get spooked and run now that Robbie has essentially told him he’ll fork over cash I’m worried that he’ll start hitting him up for cash a lot. We know he sells drugs and likely uses them so who knows what type of trouble he’s gotten himself into. Robbie getting involved could potentially even be dangerous and I just wish he had someone else to rely on yet I’m betting Robbie won’t get anyone else involved. -
Long winded alert, because I can only do...nvm- Especially in terms of this chapter I can see both sides and they both seem to be at fault though part of me for once feels sorry for Danny. Jake is getting way too clingy and disregarding what Danny has told him as he's getting jealous when he's in no place to be jealous. Just seems like Jake is, even if it's purely unintentional, sabotaging Danny's relationship to some extent by causing friction so I can see him being upset. On the other hand you can't really control your emotions and previously Danny was throwing out some major mixed signals despite his weak attempts to define himself as straight so I can understand Jake getting his hopes up. I mean, at one point he told Jake nothing would ever happen again and then oops it did not to mention escalated. Still, despite how annoying Jake was being to me it crosses a line to block someone who you claim is your best friend regardless of the fact they made up in the end. Then there's Lydia who while I understand why she'd want to help patch things up between them really has no clue what's going on so she kinda dove into some pretty deep, chaotic waters by trying to get in the middle of this mess. I think Danny is confused regardless of his sexuality as one minute he's claiming he loves Lydia while the next he's saying he doesn't expect it to last, doesn't seem remotely upset at the idea of them breaking up, and to me sorta implies as Ryan suggests that it's all about sex. I mean Danny may think that's love but I don't think he has the maturity level to be saying "I love her but I have to let her go." or something along those lines as if he actually loved her he'd be more concerned with their relationship ending as even puppy love has more emotions to it than the vibe he gives off regarding their relationship. Of course he's a teenager so that's expected as like most he's being influenced more by lust than love. Not sure if it was a good move or a bad move for Danny to be trying to set Jake up with another guy as on one hand Ryan seems sweet while on the other if Jake wasn't so dense he'd probably be upset at the idea as I think he's failed to realize the obvious. Of course based on that last line it seems like Danny is about to be way more blunt about his matchmaking so I can't wait to read Jake's reaction as I anticipate he turned a deaf ear to Ryan's blatant hints about being gay causing him to likely be very confused as to what Danny could possibly be talking about. I feel that it'd be great if Jake could develop feelings for someone like Ryan yet I have a bad premonition that as soon as Lydia is out of the picture that Danny will potentially sabotage whatever developing relationship Jake & Ryan might have. I mean Danny may mean well yet when he is once again without a girlfriend he'll likely find himself turning back towards Jake as he is to put it bluntly convenient.
-
I could “maybe” see the argument Danny was only experimenting before but he’s got to be harboring some internalized homophobia while maybe suppressing the fact he’s bi. A straight guy wouldn’t want to make out with a guy or talk about how hot another guy is if it was just about sex. It’s sad to see him suppressing his true feelings and it’s also terrible to see Jake let loose the L word as he’s getting too emotionally involved especially if despite all the evidence Danny is miraculously straight. I mean if he’s bi or gay there’s a chance of something happening between them though at the same time there are some guys who’ve repressed the truth for years so even if he’s not straight he won’t necessarily end up giving Jake what he wants. A lot of time may pass between these events yet they keep escalating so next time who knows how far it’ll go yet clearly it’s a temptation Danny cannot resist.

Chapter 16 Moral Support
NimirRaj commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 16 Moral Support
Ok, I see some major positive energy at the beginning of this chapter yet it also eventually reinforces a opinion I have which won't be well received by most of the readers. My feelings are that I don't think these two should get back together. I know that it's very romantic to see these two reunite yet while initially I felt very sorry for Hank as well as felt his reaction was somewhat justified over time I have just come to not like his character at all. I mean we're seeing this from Chase's perspective and despite the fact he still supposedly is in love with Hank I have yet to see what's so great about him except that Chase depended on him way too much. First of all I feel like especially now that Chase's therapist has pointed out that fact I'm worried if they get back together Chase will give into old habits and revert back to being overly dependent on Hank. As to the 2nd reason I feel Hank is a lot less dependable or at the very least is not the person Chase has made him out to be in his own mind. Despite his claims nothing was going on at the time the fact Hank was so upset when Chase saw him with their old friend makes it really suspicious that even if nothing happened then that it was likely going to if Chase hadn't ruined the mood. Yes, they'd broken up while Hank felt Chase had cheated on him so it's not like Hank would have been cheating yet Hank moving on that fast especially compared to Chase just makes it seem like despite the fact he was the one that proposed that his feelings don't run as deep as Chase's. Then he reveals they did eventually have a sexual relationship reinforcing the fact that even if it was a casual thing that he was able to move on to a physical relationship with someone else rather quickly and jumping forward the guilty look on his face when Julio recounted them talking about Chase having been there just rubs me the wrong way. Felt like he was withholding the information on purpose for his own sake despite knowing it was wrong and honestly it does make a difference if he heard from someone else what happened as it means that rather than trusting Chase he needed to be told by a third party. Then there's also all the vindictive things Hank did just to hurt Chase despite his initial claims of wanting to remain friends. I mean he was planning a weekend away with another guy and clearly changed plans to take the dog with him just to rub it in Chase's face that he was hooking up with someone. I just don't think their relationship is healthy and while both getting therapy is a good start I honestly think that if this was reality I'd tell Chase to move on. Dawson means well but he keeps urging Chase to get back with Hank because of his own personal experience with Brent as he doesn't even know Hank. Long winded I know but eh. -
Ugh, see in this chapter Jake's dad comes out seemingly like a nice guy despite being an ass in the former chapter, although Jake doesn't seem to actually be that bothered by his dismal birthday yacht celebration, and Jack's mom comes off looking like the horrible one when before the situation seemed reversed. I mean his dad wasn't exactly apologetic though over how dismal the day was so I'm not exactly giving him a two thumbs up just because he managed to not also be a homophobe. I can see where Jack would be utterly confused as to predicting their reactions to him coming out as it's hard to anticipate how they'll be about anything else. Divorced people obviously vent to their friends but I don't remotely blame Jake for his reaction to his mom publicly bashing his dad. He may be a kid yet somebody needs to tell them both off in my opinion so if their peers won't do it then I guess it falls to their son. Definitely not loving the very popular I'm sorry you heard me say it but not remotely sorry I said it line. I don't know how his mom will react to him being gay but his dad is probably right about her already having a clue. Danny really has a talent for putting his foot in his mouth and I really wish Jake would listen to the shockingly good advice his dad gave him as I'd hate to see him hurt getting to emotionally attached to Danny considering how he's still dealing with his parents whole mess. Still, I can understand him wanting enjoy the ride while it lasts.

You know there are rare moments where for an instant I see some light at the end of the tunnel and then Jack’s mom acts like a…well lets just say any positive feelings I started to have toward her are quickly erased. I can’t comprehend, especially when Jack was in the hospital following surgery & almost dying, how this woman can ignore her own son’s existence. Jimmy is similar where there are moments where I see hope for their friendship to be rebuilt only to see him act like a homophobe seconds later. He may not like Tracy but he could acknowledge his presence. Speaking of their experimental years as well as Jack questioning his own sexuality wasn't it Tracy who thought that Brian was gay? While gaydar isn’t a thing he seemed fairly confident he was reading some subtle signs so it’d be interesting if that turns out to be true. As for Jimmy's sudden act of…charity I’m surprised and enlightened. I mean part of me felt early on that Jimmy’s attitude could be caused by internalized homophobia considering how obsessed he was with outing Tracy and while there was no evidence to backup this theory I now feel like there is some substantial clues. I mean based on the typical age of a 7th grader they likely stopped “fooling around” about age 13 so most if not all of it happened when they were preteens yet they aren’t preteens anymore. A REALLY good straight friend “might” give his buddy a handjob but a blowjob is not something a typical straight guy would do especially not a homophobic one. Seems like Jimmy has his own secrets but hey maybe he is just a extremely nice guy.

What a piece of work. He ditches on something his son really wanted him to be there for blaming it on his ex wife by claiming he’s having to work more to pay for child support she’s demanding he pay and then he admits to skipping it on purpose once again blaming his ex by saying if he’d shown they’d have fought ruining the night for Jake. 🤦🏻♂️ Then he plans a boat trip supposedly for his son’s birthday as well as just to spend time together yet lies about only his friend & his friend’s family coming along as of course the pregnant girlfriend is also onboard and he spends the entire time ignoring his son while getting plastered. Definitely dad of the year material and I don’t see why he deserves to see his son when he wants nothing to do with him. I know parents like this who feign interest in their kids after a divorce yet it’s typically at least in part just because they enjoy irritating their ex rather than having any real interest in their kids plus they like being able to pretend to be a “great parent” in public, especially in the age of social media so they can post “sweet family moment” photos once in a blue moon. 😑
