They proved that Dunstan woman was, in fact, a complete wacko, using her job to promote her own political agenda, pulling others in with her. I am glad she lost her license. She may have also lost her pension. I hope they throw the book at her. I’m glad they were able to ID Fakey McFakester (did I get that right?) and get him prosecuted and away from the kids he supposedly was ‘protecting.’ Who knows what kind of harm he did to them while he had control, especially to those who may have been abandoned for LGBTQ reasons. And, believe it or not, I am not normally a vengeful person! But these people incensed me! Now Priestly shows up trying to destroy Hunter again? And when she is, once again, thwarted, she turns to the Gray Crew spinning tales. Of course, these people won’t check with their own kids and grandkids first for veracity. Good on the parents and kids to find out what the grandparents are doing and try to nip it in the bud. The grands probably boasted how they were working on ridding the school of dangerous people and the kids and grandks figured out what was going on. The next step is going to be the next school board meeting, because you know Priestly and her minions will be raining fire and brimstone on them if they don’t get rid of Hunter yesterday. And now Oliver is murdered. And why did he leave in the first place if he was supposedly so devoted to the kids? I’m not even going to speculate on that yet. WAY more details are needed before that could possibly start. How soon to next Saturday?

A lovely story for Earth Day. (Also, Happy 92 to my Dad in Heaven!) Just a comment, though. Most classroom no longer use TVs, even flat-screens. They use SmartBoards that are hooked up to a computer with Internet access. These also allow you to write on them with special ‘pens’ like a traditional blackboard. I had one in my Library for my last 4 years of teaching and LOVED using it with my classes!

They had a great time with the Cadets, but now they need to get cuddles with a cutie-pie! Great chapter. I never knew that about the equinox snake. That must be incredible to actually witness. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🎂🍻🥂🎉

Chapter 11: Forgotten Father
Clancy59 commented on astone2292's story chapter in Chapter 11: Forgotten Father
Love the airplane debate! I can definitely hear that conversation going on in the minds of every person who is nervous about flying (including myself)! I really enjoyed the entire chapter and was very surprised about Heather. It’s not often we have a sympathetic vampire! I’m glad Dave stepped in and took charge of the situation. Tierney will take good care of her. I admit to being a bit confused about the confrontation with the new Alpha (?), Caleb and Mason. Even looking back at it after reading the comments, it says that Caleb stepped in front of Mason, giving the impression that Caleb was doing the protecting, It seemed like the new guy was accusing Caleb of biting his daughter. Is that Caleb’s current wife? I thought they were different species. I certainly hope this all gets clarified next week! -
@ColumbusGuy, I don’t remember any dogs or cats, but Sean (the first Weyrleader) had a clone of his beloved pony! The geneticists made sure he was put at the head of the line to receive it when they started reviving the Earth species after he helped with the discovery of the fire lizards (or fire dragons, as he called them.) Vikkel’s response in going after Kadin, while uncalled for, is understandable. Good thing Merida was there to put him in his place. His claims that Thread was gone forever, the loss of people, animals and supplies and the cheap repairs he made to his hold have shown him to be an inadequate, unprepared holder. He is very likely berating himself and, subconsciously, looking for someone else to blame for the problems in an attempt to direct the attention elsewhere. Kadin is a perfect target to blame for the losses in the grazing fields. Luckily, Kadin has his own supporters who recognize that he did everything possible within his power. Kadin is injured and in shock. He needs rest, care, food and warmth. He’ll get it, despite whatever Vikkel demands because his people will be upset that Vikkel’s decrees led them to this situation. As far as those ‘mates’ are concerned (I couldn’t think of another term for them), they are typical rubber-neckers, as described by @drsawzall. They need to live vicariously through the gory details lived through and described by others, while they listen safely in their own living rooms. Serrando was right to blast them. They seem to have forgotten that a real person they knew had died in their search for a thrill. They need some serious reminding. I think I know who should be on the first Ground Crews! Including Gatri, who seems to have forgotten the terror of being caught out in the beginning of Threadfall!

(Hmmm. I wonder if I can comment now. Every now and then, for some strange, unknown reason, GA says I can’t post a response! It lasts for about an hour, and then everything is back to normal. 🤷🏻♀️) This was quite a soul-baring chapter, especially for Loren. He discovered the fickleness of very young children, especially when Daddy/Moose or ‘Mommy’ is around. He also had a deep, soul-wrenching discussion with Jay. This discussion was LONG overdue! But Loren was absolutely correct. Jay was presenting a double standard to Loren (btw, saying ‘double-standarding’ is not that easy!). He hasn’t been fair. Jay’s job is extremely dangerous. People are only just becoming aware of HOW dangerous it is—not just the broken bones and torn muscles, but with long-term brain damage. So, if Jay was worried watching Loren rock climbing once in a while, he needs to understand how Loren feels watching Jay get hit like that almost every week! Remember, Jay, ‘what’s good for the goose is good for the gander (or in this case, other goose)’! It was overdue, but it was good. Nothing was said or taken in anger. They listened to each other like true partners are supposed to. Jay came away with a new understanding of how Loren feels about him and their relationship and it changed how he feels about Loren—it deepened the love and appreciation he has for Loren and everything about him, even after he kicked him out to Wisconsin for three weeks! (That’s not a hardship, btw. Wisconsin is GORGEOUS! So says this Wisconsin Girl!) Seriously, this was one of the best chapter, yet. (Yay! It posted!)

When Leah was found dead and there were indications that she knew whoever she let in the house, my suspicions went to Pierson, but I didn’t connect him to Key’s death. For some reason, I didn’t put him in the timeline correctly. And although I am upset that Robby took matters into his own hands, I am glad he and Sam did, in the end, take what they had discerned to Hicks (even with a thoroughly deserved rebuke). Good for Mandy to think about the boys going to Dylan’s house. Hicks was really not thinking straight by that point to have missed that one! At least he caught the clue with the grass. I am thoroughly disgusted with that school office staff, however. (Although I have to admit, I am sure they can be found in some (read: many) school systems.) There is absolutely no excuse for their actions, or rather, lack thereof. They knew about Dylan and what had been happening in his world of late. In my school system, that would warrant alarm bells and heightened alertness to scams like this. For no one to not have even asked for identification and/or a court order for Dylan’s removal from the school, AND NOTIFICATION OF THE PRINCIPAL, they should all immediately be on suspension and/or lose their jobs. But, alls well that ends well. Except for the fact that the wackos will still cling to their conspiracy theories, everyone has survived. They may not be happy or healthy yet, but they are working on it, and it will come with time.

Wow. Just…wow. That was totally unexpected! Interestingly enough, I said in the last chapter that that Priestly woman may have been in contact with the father. Well, now I may have to rethink this. This is probably someone from her so-called ‘church’ (read ‘cult’) she contacted with her outrage and they have decided to take things into their own hands. The law firm may well be from out-of-state, but they may actually represent the ‘church’ and it’s minions. These groups often have wide-flung reaches. They may not actually have any contact with the father, at least not yet. Their goal could be to get control of the kids (more recruits), at least, purportedly, until they can find him, for their own protection, of course. They can then ‘interrogate’ them and get ‘dirt’ on those ‘filthy’ homosexuals to prove how awful and hurtful they have been to the kids, then they’ll try to get their hands on the twins! They could also be maneuvering to get their hands on the estate (After all, they are just children and can’t be in control of such a thing by themselves. We have to administer it for them, through the church, of course, to protect them. And if they decide to donate it all to the church in thanks, well…) Wow! I have such an evil mind! I think I’ve been reading and watching too many conspiracy theory stories!

I am enjoying every read in the CJ Universe. I always love seeing how the guys interact. The banter is wonderful! I am surprised at how many vacation days CJ and Owen seem to acquire, though. It seems like every month they have at least a weekend away! Lucky them! I also caught the references to the future doctor in the house and the Air Force One Captain and thought to myself, “Well, we know when we’ll see them!” So, Northman is in for more hassling, huh? I can hardly wait. I wonder who’s toes he’s going to try to step on and who will stomp on his foot in response. He’s going to develop a real ‘thing’ about CJ, and CJ isn’t the one doing it! But Northman won’t acknowledge that. I am quite sure Northman will play a big part in the Incident.

The plot thickens! The wife has now been murdered with the scene set to look like a suicide. Poor Dylan. What a horrible thing to have to come home to while he is still trying to process what happened to his father, no matter how much he feared and hated him. Now his Mom, who he was evidently close to and really loved. Thank goodness the police chief (?) is smart. He knows things are not what they seem to be on the surface and he is not going to be bullied by Sleazoid into arresting Robby just because he is a handy target. His suspicions have been raised about the ‘suicide’ based on his professional experience. He knows Dylan is keeping a secret, too. His idea to recruit his own son, Trevor, to get close to Dylan is not too surprising in this context, although it could raise ethical concerns, involving minor family members in a capitol crime case. Considering everything, he definitely needs to keep an eye on Dylan, so having him in his care as a foster son is one way to keep him close, although, again, some people could find problems with the ethics of this. This unsub is still out there. People don’t know s/he exists. Robby has provided too handy an excuse and alibi for their actions. What is the deal with this family? Why this vendetta? Leah evidently knew this person and willingly let him/her into her home, to her detriment. Did she realize what was happening? And what is going to happen with Sam’s case against the school system? Seriously, even if he wins, should he even continue to work there after this year? Just the fact that he has to go the legal route in order to keep his job could create a toxic workplace. There will always be those who resent him, his position and his ‘agenda.’ If it were me, I might want a (good/largish) settlement and look for a position elsewhere. He will never have a comfortable teaching position here again. I can hardly wait for the next chapter. This is turning into a gripping crime novel!

After Loren’s childhood experience, he probably does have some PTSD. Seeing Aiden alone with tears in his eyes was a trigger event for him because, whether he likes it or not, he has fallen in love with the munchkin and can’t stand to see him hurting. He doesn’t seem to understand that everyone, even babies, get down every now and then. Aiden was missing his Uncle Lowen and that led to the tears. Loren simply internalized them too hard and quickly, without giving a thought as to why. Kids need to be alone occasionally and , unfortunately, Aiden has developed his escape artist skills, so it’s hard to contain him when Jay (or Matt and Seamus) needs to do something. Thank goodness for the guys. They seem to understand Loren’s past and are able to get him back on the right track when he derails occasionally. Good catch, guys! Keep the story coming, @Mrsgnomie! It is thoroughly enjoyable. I agree that I would love to see more sequels!

Sounds like even Rafe doesn’t know just how much he is capable of. After what just happened, that’s a scary thought. This school is going to help him get control over his powers, right? It also sounds like he was quite unaware of his heritage. If the Gold clan is the only one that can do this laser thing, he must be related to them. No one has ever intimated this before? Was his foster family aware of this? If this is true, just how does he fit into the matrix of the clan? Hmmmm… On to the next chapter!

Believe me. I am a retired Librarian. I understand the ridiculous things people can do and say to me thinking they were ‘protecting’ the innocent little darlings! 🙄

Mawgrim has always done a superb job with this series. Anne would be proud of his contributions.

Typical. Sleazoid is determined to try this in the media and has already convicted Robby. As a result, the wackos have now decided they have free reign to do whatever they want to the guys. And as far the ACLU is concerned, it wouldn’t surprise me that they wouldn’t take up Sam’s illegal firing (and let’s face it—they are itching to fire him for any possible reason, and they just got handed a golden egg). It’s not high profile enough for them, even though Federal law is being broken. I’m glad GALA has stepped in. That will certainly ruffle a few feathers!. It was good to see that Sam’s dad is doing well and that the parents both support the guys100%. They were right to be concerned about Robby’s temper. Sam needs to be there to control things. At least he doesn’t have to worry about his dad. They’ll probably be showing up at Sam and Robby’s as soon as they get the all clear from the doctors! Dylan is an unknown quantity here. I am unsure whether to put him into the suspect column or not. He seems to be keeping a lot of secrets. This is getting really interesting.

Glad to see you back. I’ve been wondering. Good luck with your computer. That’s always a headache when it doesn’t work properly. It’s amazing how much we’ve come to depend on them in just 25 years or so! My husband tells a funny story about Venice and a friend of his. They grew up in an Italian neighborhood and everyone assumed my husband was Italian because he is rather dark, considering his true heritage. One day, they were in a bar together and signing Italian songs when this guy asks my husband what piazza (I don’t know if that’s the correct word or spelling, sorry.) his family is from. My hubby realized the guy was unaware, so he told him, “Up north.” The guy replied, “Ah, Venizian!” Hubby said, “No, farther north.” The guy looked at him puzzled, because he couldn’t think of anywhere further north, so he asked what it was near. My hubby’s response? “Belfast.” Hubby’s family is 100% Irish.

Yeah, we knew someone sleazy like that would appear. I’m sorry Keys was murdered—no one deserves that, even if they physically abuse their families. But obviously, he has a lot of enemies. Unfortunately for Robby, they took advantage of the argument to come up with a ‘unique’ method of execution, using Robby as the scapegoat. This also now gives the Sleazoid even more fodder to work with to attack those ‘evil, liberal, sinning LGBT kooks!” I am incensed at the school administration about Sam. Where is his Union? Do they have one? There should be protection for him against these kinds of unfounded retributions. Well, at least he was able to go take care of his parents when his father needed him. Unfortunately, it prevents him from giving Robby his needed alibi, although, I doubt they would accept it. They would just think they were working together.

Sam is justified in his concerns. Robby doesn’t have to deal with these issues in his professional world, so it never occurs to him to think about them before acting. He also needs to learn to control that temper! It’s going to land him, and Sam, in really hot water one day. In today’s politically-charged climate, people are very ready to find fault with almost anything and everything. People are trying to remove books from library shelves because they object to something in them, whether it is due to race, history or gender/sex. (As a side comment, many of those objections are losing traction as the hysteria is dying down. A number of those that had originally been successful in being removed have actually been reviewed and returned to the shelves. Also, were you aware that one of the books most frequently cited to be removed from Library shelves is actually the Christian Bible? Have you ever read Song of Solomon?) People are going to accuse Sam of ‘teaching’ or ‘recruiting’ the kids to be gay, which is the basis of the ridiculous bill in Florida. Sam was quite right. Robby handed Keys just what he wanted—notoriety. Now, his bakery will be the focus of the local, and soon the national, news media. It will be the protest location for LBGT groups and for Christian Coalition groups to ‘protect’ the ‘innocent’ Christians from the ‘evil sinners.’ According to Sam, C du G only had a 1 star review. Well, this will certainly boost his reputation! And then there’s the school board…

GO, DAD! I have to admit, I was also nervous when he came in yelling for Parker, but once he understood what was happening, he backed Parker 1000%. The relief was immense. Morgan may think he can keep all this under wraps by blaming Parker for filming the incident and blaming Darius for everything in the first place, but he’s about to have his hands full because, as Natalie said, this is going national. Natalie is definitely going to be an asset in Parker’s camp. He may not understand everything he has unleashed today, but she does. She will explain it to him. She has already alerted him enough that he has started doing research on the various people she mentioned. This is going to be a wild ride. Next we have the visit with an attorney for Parker and the meeting with Darius and his dad. I can hardly wait to see what unfolds next!

My own mother was just such an example. She was the only child of (evidently) rather self-centered people. I never knew them as they had both died long before I was born. Even my Dad never knew them. She was emotionally neglected most of her childhood. However, you never met anyone more loving and giving of herself in your life. If anyone needed help, she was the first one there lending a hand. So, while some people do have a hard time when they attain adulthood, not everyone turns out bad. Some people are determined to not let it happen again. I also love your description of communication being a two-way street, with turn-arounds and curves and traffic signals, etc. That was a perfect analogy! Nothing is as straight-forward as they like to think it is. Loren may think of himself as child-negative, but Aiden knows better. If anyone can get through to him, Aido Potato will!

Eric does it again! He’s like my pup. She’s never met someone who is not to be considered a friend.

@frosenblum, I just read the article. While I can understand his concern about the backlash from the perspective of being black, I have to tell you that I had honestly hadn’t even given that one a thought. I was more upset upset that he seemed to be among the throng that thinks Rock was totally innocent in this whole escapade! Yes, Smith was wrong in his action, but he was provoked. I still maintain that Rock started the whole thing and kept on, even after Smith told him to stop. He needs to be sanctioned for bullying. Otherwise, what kind of message are we sending to kids. Parents and teachers tell them all the time that bullying is wrong, but they see that if you become famous, go ahead. You can do anything and get away with it.

Chapter 13: Drinks and Nerves
Clancy59 commented on Demiurge's story chapter in Chapter 13: Drinks and Nerves
Wow. What a night? You know, Alec, just because the little girl looks like Finn, doesn’t necessarily mean she’s his daughter, which is where your mind is going after 10 years. Evidently Milo has made quite a recovery. She could be his baby girl. It isn’t unusual for kids to take after another relative. Another thought. If Milo couldn’t have kids after his injuries, Finn may have been a donator for him and his wife so they could still have a biological child. That would still make her his niece, even if, biologically, she is his daughter. Just a couple of thoughts.- 29 comments

Got it this time! Can’t wait to see Liebe’s reactions to the double standards. Her dudgeon will be quite high! Yeah, let’s let CJ loose on some of these idiots who have been in the news lately—Graham, McConnell (although he’ll probably be dead by now), Gaetz, Greene, etc. I can just see him eviscerate (sp?) them and the so-called ‘journalists’ in the Faux News networks.

No, the image isn’t. At least, it isn’t for me, but I love the description! Thank you for the pass on the rant. It was just on the news that the Academy has banned Smith from attending any Academy event, including the Oscars, even if he is nominated, including virtually, for the next 10:years. The thing that made me mad was when they then praised Rock for his gracious response to being attacked!? What about Jada’s response? Oh, I forgot. She female, so she’s just supposed to take insults, I guess. Talk about double standards. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised when we look back at the history of misogynism and bigotry displayed by the Academy.
