Grandfather wants to speak with Timothy privately later. Mother is gobsmacked that her son is gay. Father and Grandfather are happy that Son has found someone to love and makes him happy. They are not surprised at Son’s announcement. Something tells me there is a family history here.

Story Archive Update November 5, 2021 - Genres
Clancy59 commented on Myr's blog entry in Gay Authors Archive
Just think of it as doing Boolean searches using Venn diagrams within the Genres. It really helps narrow searches. I taught it to my students in elementary grades! -
Looks like a lovely place to live. Randy and his mom will be very happy there.

Hmmm. He thought he saw a golden and a green dragon flying off into the sunrise? Interesting. Dragons may have a few secrets like Companions do! (Or could they be firelizards?) It was a lovely way to say farewell and give him closure on a painful issue. He’s not ‘over it’ by far, but maybe he can now really start the healing process. Lessa is awake! Now come the discussions, arguments and decisions.

It sounds like Steven will be a much better helpmate than Johnny ever could be. Johnny was only out for himself. Steven looks out for others.

Johnny sounds like a predator. Tim needs to keep him as far away as possible. He may have to find new accommodations, but in the meantime, LOCK THE DOOR!

I don’t know that I would agree that Puppy is an ‘alcoholic’ in the truest sense of the word. Yes, he is turning to alcohol as a soother, but he still seems to be in control of his consumption. Everyone has the capacity to overindulge, especially considering what had been happening over the previous couple of days in his life, but I just don’t see evidence of the nonstop, unconscious consumption that is typical of an alcoholic. I do agree that if he is not careful, his drinking could turn into something dangerous, however. I can understand him agreeing to wait for Hunter in the heat of the moment. Who knows how Hunter would have reacted, otherwise. It was a wise move for self-protection. However, he needs to get out of that house/apartment before Hunter is done with his sentence. It’s a good thing the sentence was enforced immediately. Puppy is safe, for now. Max and Mum may need to force the issue a bit. I also agree that Puppy needs some trauma therapy, himself. His entire LIFE has been one giant trauma. He’s going to need to get things straightened out before he can think to help kids at Greenstone. He may not realize it, but I think he’s going to be showing signs of PTSD. Where is Cindy when he needs her?

Ooooh! You are a mean ghost story teller! 👻

That’s quite a trip he’s got planned for himself! We’ve done the Milwaukee-Chicago-Grand Rapids trip many times visiting family. A few years ago, we decided to go up through the UP and then down to GR, just for a change. It had been many, many years since I had been north to the Green Bay and beyond, etc area. We very likely won’t do it again. Yes, it was beautiful, but it took about 3 times longer to go the distance, and we weren’t sightseeing! So, from now on, we will be opting to deal with the crazy Chicago drivers and the parking lots that form along the bottom of the lake. 🤪 It sounds like JJ is having a wonderful reunion with his adopted family(ies). They have all made a deep impression on each other and it’s good to reestablish this contact. He really needs this. Everyone needs a family of some sort. It’s good for him to have a history that he can look back on with happiness and not trauma.

Oh, dear. Again with the chickens and goats! LOL! 🐓🐐

Clues are slowly coming out. Wait until they hear the full story! 😲 I’m really glad you are getting into this back story of Lessa and Ramoth’s trip back to the past Weyrs. It really fills in a lot of holes.
-
I also wonder at the comment, but will calmly wait further clues and information. I had to laugh at the soda/pop issue. We also deal with that in Southeastern Wisconsin where it’s soda. It’s also a bubbler, not a water fountain. I can’t think of any others off the top of my head, but it’s always amusing to find these pockets with these terms that most people find weird. 😛

Don’t worry about it. I just had to give you a hard time. Enjoy your trip and the hotel. Take advantage of the amenities. I almost never get to do that. I had once thought about about going into radiology, but wound up in education instead. Never regretted it. Hope you learn a lot!

It was of my first thoughts as I read the interaction with his mother. I am quite sure she is very aware of the werebear community and Colt’s control of them. It wouldn’t surprise me if she had arranged something once she found out about Siku. It may just have happened to be that there had already been a get-together arranged and they took advantage. It looks like Charlie has her work cut out for her. I hope Gunnar calls to check in and finds out and the troop from Atikokan can help! On the other topic. How can you abandon us now? We are all going to be so worried for Shivay! Siku is going to be so sad and that is a bad thing when working out in the middle of the ocean. Shivay’s boss will also notice he is not happy. Please come back soon! We’ll be counting the days!
-
Maybe so, but he will suffer burnout, as will anyone else who tries to maintain that high a level of activity. His production that week was pie-in-the-sky. I know this is fiction, but… At a minimum, since he’s so far ahead, he deserves a couple of paid days off! When he and Siku, presumably, return to the larger bear enclave, he may consider starting his own business, since he puts in this much effort and has this much talent and ability.
-
Well. Nothing ominous or potentious there! I do have some concerns with Shivay’s productivity. He is getting so much done, he is WAY ahead of schedule. He may be setting the bar too high for, not only himself, but others in the future. At the pace he is going' he’s going to face burn-out in short order, with his supervisors demanding more as evidenced by his past performance.

It looks like you’ve been working on this one for quite a while. Having helped a friend in college with her writing and world-building, I am just a bit in amazement of how much is involved in getting all the details down. I hope that since this appeared in the headline that it means you will be continuing it soon. It looks like you certainly have a lot of support. I know I hated to see the end of this chapter!
-
Well, I guess that’s not so much of a surprise with an arranged marriage. Not that Nameer is gay, but that there isn’t any real affection between them. Shivay’s mother is an extremely strong personality to take control as she did. Was she an only child? Wouldn’t be surprised. I loved how Charlie was so protective of Shivay and leery of his father until they really knew what was going on with him! I’m sure Siku certainly didn’t expect to find a weretiger as his mate! Are the rest of the Lycans aware that they exist, let alone they are in California? I know they settled in the no-man’s-land between the two major packs there. How big is their community? It will be interesting to see the reactions from Atikokan! We’ll have to see about the Council, but I think they will be open to this ‘new’ community.
-
Aha! We knew there was something special about Charlie, but I don’t think we expected that! Odin and his fellow gods are taking a great deal of interest in the werebears community lately!
-
Wow! I just saw that for the first time, I was not only the first commenter (has happened before), but I am the first reader! Never happened before! I’m psyched! LOL!
-
Lessa! Yes, this is the what I was waiting for. Anne never described the Weyrfolks’ reaction to Lessa’s appearance. I have often imagined what had happened when this happened. It’s much more interesting here as you have actual characters with whom we have bonded and can relate to as to how they are feeling. I love their curiosity and the rumormonging that is going on. Not surprising, considering. I also remember the amazement at Ramoth’s size since dragons had gotten so much larger in the next 400 turns. However, for some reason (I suppose it’s because it’s because it’s been a few years since I read the first books), I had forgotten that Lessa went back to Ruatha, which only made sense as it was her original home and she knew it so intimately. Now for the news that she is from 400 turns in the future and the debate about going forward to when and where they are desperately needed. 🐉

Hunter is still proving to be a violent, possessive, self-centered jerk. Puppy needs to get as far away from him as possible as soon as possible. Maybe the past two years have been relatively calm, but it seems like the volcano could erupt at any time.
-
I, also, think she suspects her son is gay. She is treating him as though any male friend, or even acquaintance, is a threat to her ultimate plans for him. As a result, she is treating him as if he is going out to commit a murder (although, that may be more acceptable in her view at this point).
-
I can just see this giant, 7-foot, white-haired guy with an orange cat curled up on his shoulders strolling through the local supermarket. Somehow, I don’t think even the manager will complain about the cat being in the store! Maybe Shivay isn’t Sika’s mate, but maybe Sika can rescue him from his overbearing mother and family. Of course, we are looking at it from an American perspective, as is he since he grew up as an American, basically. His mother, however, thinks of her behavior as normal, since it is their culture. Who is right?

The Truth is Going to Leak Soon
Clancy59 commented on garfwiz's story chapter in The Truth is Going to Leak Soon
While it would be interesting to see further actions in Amidon, I would like to see the interaction between Tala and Jay with the female Alpha couple in Oakland, so I vote for location #1!
