    Valley Narrows

For someone who had grown up in a small place such as Pinnacle, even Valley Narrows is going to seem huge and Jevikel can't even imagine how much larger Bitra Hold will be (wait until he gets his first view of the Weyr). Girtal isn't old enough yet to have had all his inquisitive nature squashed - a bit like Jevikel when he was a little boy. Now they know Thread is on the way and it's a race back to the Hold. But as you have so rightly pointed out, how safe is it? Depends on how much Thread the Benden Wings miss...

    Valley Narrows

Jevikel had been to Valley Narrows a few times before. From Pinnacle Hold a steep road wound through the foothills; hard on the cart’s brakes going down and a tough climb on the return journey. Vikkel drove the cart with its cargo of cheeses; far fewer than the usual number due to the losses they’d suffered. Behind it, the flock of herdbeasts were driven by three of them; Jevikel, Gatri and her younger brother Girtal. It was easy preventing the herd from straying over the first part of the

    Chapter 13

Due to the destruction of the beacon, I assume no more spacecraft would be able to locate the planet. It must have been difficult for the space Travellers to adapt, but they are effectively castaways now, with no hope of return, so even without the explanations, they would have to make the best. And at least they are living on a beautiful, unpolluted planet. Great story. I’m sad now it's over. Looking forward to your next one.

Thank you for spotting that. It should read Zalna and T'san seek advice from Creline. I will correct it.

    The Lovers

The plot thickens... Seriously, I love all the theories people are coming up with. Who knows, some of them may be right 😉
  8. These guys have been posting on YouTube for the last 3 years. They are building a sustainable off-grid home in the Canadian forest and post a new video every Sunday. As well as working unbelievably hard they are also very cute.

    Chapter 2

It's a good job Parker managed to upload the first clip to Facebook. He'll probably get his phone back, but with all the videos deleted. This chapter showed how he is gradually becoming aware of the racism in the town and also beginning to realise that the comments his so-called friends make aren't really funny. As he said: When one of my friends calls me a fag or cocksucker, I know they are just playing around. But what if I went to Rosemont, and I’m walking down the street and someone calls me a fag. How would I feel? I’m sure I would be as offended by it as I was earlier when Dan called the demonstrators niggers. It isn’t the words that have meaning, it is the way they are said.

Although, if you remember it was a failed burglary - the thieves didn't get into the safe and the money was burned or melted.

It's still not clear if Terry's dreams are as a result of him thinking too much about the mystery and the murderous possibilities that may have occurred, or if they are his subconscious warning him about something. Or maybe a mixture of both. Terry and Dan are definitely good together.

    The auction

I've had to do that a few times with linked stories. Sometimes you forget all of the little details.

    The Lovers

I actually worked for a cinema company once which had that rule - if a relationship started between a member of management and one of the staff, one of them would have to transfer to another site or leave. It was scrapped during the 1990's. Terry and Dan are good for each other.

Colin's getting over not having been given the job. I don't see him as ever being 100% pleasant to anyone he works with, but at least he's doing his fair share of the work.

I like the way you're thinking through the clues. Yes, I have deliberately thrown in quite a few red herrings and there may be a few more to come!

    The Lovers

I woke up in an unfamiliar bed with someone’s arm across my chest. For a couple of seconds my brain struggled to process everything, then it all clicked into place. The clock on the bedside table showed that it was almost 8.30. I’ve always reckoned I have an inbuilt alarm as no matter how late I get to bed, I always wake up at around the same time. I stretched carefully, trying not to disturb Dan. He was lying face down, hugging the pillow with his other arm and he looked very relaxed and peacef
  17. i've been suffering from typical English spring weather. On Saturday March 26th it was 20 C and I was out digging the garden in shorts. Last Saturday, 2nd April, we had snow showers and freezing temperatures.

That's correct. Ramoth's first clutch hatched before the first Threadfall. if you remember, F'lar and Lessa decided they would only Search older teenagers from Southern Boll and Nerat for that Hatching, which is the reason (unknown as yet to Jevikel and Kadin) why the riders didn't come back for them. And yes, it means they will avoid the Southern expedition. H'rek was one of those Searched that time and although he wasn't successful with Ramoth's clutch, he Impressed Rioth from Prideth's first clutch in Southern.

  20. I agree with so many of the comments people have already made. Yes, compromise is necessary in a relationship, as @84Mags pointed out, but Loren is the one who is making all the changes to please Jay. I can see why he decided it wasn't worth the aggro to continue with the next climb, but at some point, he's going to start being resentful. I don't think it matters that Jay has a dangerous job, while Loren's rock climbing is for fun (although it's also a part of his channel). Money isn't the issue. Watching someone you love doing something potentially dangerous is tough, but there needs to be a whole lot more discussion about the matter, or it will turn sour.

Exactly. As soon as it turns mild, viable Thread will fall. At which point all of the Holders will start to panic and demand that dragonriders - whom they've ignored and neglected for Turns - protect their Holds.

As Jevikel had supposed, the beasts didn’t go to market. Restoring the outbuildings and the Hold took priority over everything else. By the time the first fruits of harvest were being picked, the main barn was ready. ‘You’d have thought the weather would have given us a good crop,’ Jemina said. ‘But look at these.’ The fruit she plucked from the basket was far smaller than usual. ‘Plenty of sun, but not enough rain.’ With only one good arm, she was hard pressed to do much of the work she’d

    Knight of Wands

I read Chariots of the Gods too! Although most of his theories can be given another explanation, the idea that alien civilizations with technology that would have seemed like magic might have visited Earth thousands of years ago still holds some appeal. You've come up with some interesting theories there, but you'll have to wait to find out if they are correct or not.
  25. There were times in this story when I wanted to yell at Woody, 'Don't do that!' What starts out as a teenage boy having some fun inevitably goes horribly wrong. The tension ramps up with every chapter as Woody learns some difficult lessons along the way. A story that will stay with you long after you have finished reading it.
