  1. The Roaming Sea can’t be pigeon holed into one genre. It’s an adventure, a love story, a war tale, and a thought provoking drama. Wonderful and unique!

  2. The closest I've ever come to the desperation felt by Callum and the rest of the Vanguard was a misguided (on my part) hike on a snowy trail. What was normally a mildly challenging 1 HR hike turned into a 2 1/2 HR strenuous trek. But I didn't seriously think I wouldn't make it, I was just exhausted and overwhelmed. The vanguard was literally facing death in minutes if they didn't hurry. I don't think that Callum has ever experienced the kind of devotion and sacrifice that Rym showed him. The tense race to the shore was in contrast to the idyllic fishing scene at the end. I enjoyed Callum and Rym's journey and would love to read any of their further adventures, if you ever decide to continue their story.

    The Sea, Pt. 2

As soon as they got lost, I started thinking about the compass. By the end, I was shouting in my head COMPASS! I'm proud of Callum, and also proud of Eudald. He wasn't singing love songs, but an acknowledgment that he could have been wrong was a giant step for him. Things are looking up for the vanguard on this arduous journey.

    The Sea, Pt. 1

I've thankfully never directly experienced the level of hate that Eudald carries within him. I have seen it on the news and in documentaries, amongst white supremacists and other hate groups. I didn't understand it then and I don't understand it now. I recognize the incredible trauma Eudald went through, but lots of people (especially soldiers) experience such trauma. Most make it through mentally wounded but largely intact. Some suffer severe PTSD. A few turn out like Eudald. He has largely been surrounded by other soldiers who shared his feelings, or at least did not publicly refute them. This is probably his first time in a long while being around non-soldiers, he is not relating well. I appreciate you making the villain as complex as the mains.

    Hermes

Since I have never been a fan of Caroline, I find it hard to trust her. But in this venture, she has nothing to gain by hurting George, and everything to gain by playing her assigned role. I think George will be very careful and observant of his wife-in-name-only. He will be equally careful and observant of Talleyrand. We all know this "peace" will not last. Our George will, as usual, come out of this wealthier and more powerful.

    Vanguard, Pt. 2

I can only assume that some Pactrids have made a return trip, otherwise they wouldn't know if their new land was habitable. Are there any indigenous people there? The early European explorers must have felt similarly prior to leaving Europe. I hope this ends better.

    Press Friday

I'm hoping this will be the worst of it. Their story will hit the press, with photos. In a few days a new scandal will take it's place. Jackie will become persona non grata, and hopefully will be put in prison. I still think she will try to cut a deal.

    Vanguard, Pt. 1

I have no doubt that Callum would heal Eudald if the situation occurs, would Eudald protect Callum if necessary? I hope so. We've discussed this in our comments before, but it is a lot harder to hate an individual than a group. It is possible, maybe even probable, that Eudald has never met an Anberan other than in combat. Perhaps Callum will change his mind.
  9. We are now the "Signature Krew"! Great job @kbois!
  10. Or your entire society is now built around this war with the "enemy". Change is hard. Admitting you have been deceiving the populace is harder. Let's hope the rebels have some shovels.
  11. As someone who sells trees for a living, I have often wondered why they don't just plant a bunch of trees!
  12. I wonder who was the mastermind of criminal enterprise? I expect the other to flip on their cohort. Will Jackie be able to cut a deal? Could she get off with minimal time served? Ludo needs to file for divorce and full custody sooner than later.
  13. This story is wonderful just as an entertaining story, but I love how it makes me tbink! War, combined with ignorance and fear, makes regular people do horrific things to other people. Certainly there are monsters amongst the leaders, and a small percentage of the soldiers, but most people are decent. They truly care about their family, friends, neighbors, pets. But these are the same people wiping out tribes, villages, populations. It's only after a war, after the hate and misinformation, when people start to learn about the "enemy", that they realize the enemy really isn't that different than them. If only we could figure out how to stop the hate and fear mongering and go straight to the learning and accepting.
  14. We have entered a new phase of the case and of Ludo and his family's life. The searching and uncertainty are turning into debriefing and moving on. Ludo getting an attorney, talking to a trusted(?) journalist, and Damian talking to Dot are all positive steps towards recovery from Jackie's trail of devastation.
  15. The thing I like most about this chapter is how Ralph and Nolan have fully worked their way into each other's lives. The thing I like most about the comments is now I'm imagining a meeting between Norman/Sheila and Drew/Evie, thanks to @Summerabbacat. I'm imagining something like National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, although I don't think Drew owns an RV, nor is he as wonderfully uncouth as "cousin Eddie". But Norman and Sheila have such large sticks up their butts, they probably consider most other people to be the British version of hillbillies.
  16. I assumed the sea would make it's appearance at some time. I'm happy for Rym and Callum. Their adventures are ahead of them, together. But I worry about the Anberans following. They can't transport to a place they haven't been, so the Pactrids will be safe for now. Will the Anberans be satisfied with all of the Pactrid's land? How long will it take to strip the land? They are like a swarm of locusts.

    Chapter 1

I read this on another sight and it was fantastic! I’m looking forward to reading again and seeing other’s comments. I promise I won’t give any spoilers. The anticipation is half the fun!
  18. This pivotal comment from earlier now comes back full circle: “You’ve really fucked things up, you know that. We’d just got things back on track and then you have to go and do this. Thanks a fucking bunch.” Jackie was a sleeper agent! Or whatever you call it for financial crimes rather than political spies. Everything was a sham, Ludo was the fall guy, Damian was a prop. Did Andreas have an unfortunate family also? Just how much money (or whatever they stole) are we talking about? A ten year set up is a big investment for criminals.
  19. As much as I'm looking forward to his reunion with Rym, I think that his stay in Brookside will help Callum heal, physically and mentally. He has been on an arduous, tension filled rollercoaster ride since the transporter accident. He needs to settle for awhile and get his mind right. Being a productive member of a community will go a long ways towards rebuilding his identity.
  20. Woohoo, the long awaited reunion! This chapter brought only good tidings. Russ' offer was very helpful but not at all oppressive, Verne will be pleased. If Brian and Gordon become friends with Ralph and Nolan, I can see Toby being a helpful "older bro" to the active tomboy twins on a family outing, outdoors of course.

    A waiting game

While I don't think that a three way with the hot cop is in the works, I think a future story about the hot cop would be appreciated!
  22. I can't help but think of WWII and the secret rebels hiding amongst Nazis. Anytime a government tries to control all communication within it's population, you can guarantee the information is largely false.
  23. It sounds like the local police are fairly sure Ludo and Arthur were in the dark, but are still keeping their options open. If I were them I would probably do the same. It's not fair to Ludo and family, but it is realistic. We discovered that the SFO had been looking at Jackie for awhile, she was not as clandestine as she thought. I wonder about the postcard. I have a hard time believing she really cares about Damian enough to risk getting caught, so all the card seemed to accomplish is to make the police suspect that maybe Ludo really does know her whereabouts. What a selfish bitch!
  24. I liked this chapter on several fronts. Ralph standing up to his parents was big, but continuing his relationship with them on his own terms is even bigger. Ralph and Nolan are communicating and giving each other space. The girls are doing their part in getting Nolan settled in as part of the family. My favorite was the girls dressing in their overalls and scarves and being compared to Marlene Dietrich. She was not only a famous and glamorous actress, she was bisexual, an activist, stood up to the Nazis, and frequently dressed in men's clothing. Wearing overalls to a meeting with a conservative, stuffy grande dame is exactly something she would have done!
  25. My three best guesses are embezzling, money laundering, or espionage. But I'm leaning towards money laundering. Embezzlers usually Just cut and run when things get too hot. Since she expected Ludo and Damian to continue to provide a respectable cover, her disappearance was probably rushed. Corporate or political espionage seems unlikely because local cops are investigating, not MI6. If it is money laundering, whichever baddies produced the dirty money may be involved.
