I'm the first part of this story, I assumed that Andy ceased to exist. In the last few chapters, I felt that Andy also existed in the future. Otherwise, how did he all the sudden create "the equation" and speak with his father telepathically? I'm not sure how Dawson and Andy for in together.
This was an uncomfortable chapter to read. I have always felt Charles to be revolting and do not really like Wang. I admit that I feel the whole Chris-Wang part of this story to be the least believable. I can't see this Chris, the same one that have up Paul for his girlfriend and unborn son, as so easily giving up his toddler son to be with someone he knows is in love with a pedophile spy!
Well if Chris's original motivation in going back in time was to get laid (and it kind of was), he certainly succeeded! A dating app might have been preferable to creating a black hole.
Now they just have to figure out how to keep the one line of time that they want! Frank will be integral, I'm guessing. I'm hoping Frank will be the nameless husband from the prologue.
I think I get it, they want Dawson to succeed in going back to save David, thereby preventing the Russians from leveraging him. Dawson probably doesn't even look at it as treason, since that will be erased by succeeding in getting David.
Did Frank or Marion figure out a way to send thoughts forward? Would two machines have something to do with this change in time? OTT obviously doesn't exist in this future.
I have a feeling this Marion Dawson guy is going to be big trouble. Completely screw up the timeline kind of trouble. All because oldest Chris is unhappy with his personal life.
OMG!!! So many coincidences! As I was reading this chapter, there was a story on the morning show about a time travel movie in which Ryan Reynolds goes back to meet his 12-year-old self, the reporter even used the words "do over". Another story was on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The show went off and I surfed the channels and found Back to the Future! I'm meant to read this story!
I'm missing the oldest Chris to find out the changes in the future. At the very least, the tech has changed. What's with 2012? Another lie originated by oldest Chris? Sorry, I know writing a story on time travel is unavoidably complex and you simply can't include everything.
I find it interesting that Chris has no problems with lying to himself, literally. In the case of 9/11 (trying to verify that he is from future vs preventing the tragedy), he now believes his own lie because Chris believed it! How will believing the lie told to Chris-29 (that the orders came from the Whitehouse) by Chris-36 and Chris-43, effect that reality in the future?
So to truly record changes to the timeline, they would have to be recorded by the earlier Chris, based on info from later Chris. As they go back in time, the only accurate logs would be from earliest Chris, which oldest Chris, who did not ever work in the lab, read with his husband. It sounds like it's going to be a wild ride.
