    Page of Swords

It's going to be tough getting info from all the prickly personalities at the cinema (except for Silvia, she's about as far from prickly as you can get). We are learning more about the departed Colin. He was kind of a jerk.

    Chapter 4: Drive

So we have two clueless teens, one with severe anxiety issues, the other afraid to admit and/or express same sex attraction. We have to hope River can negotiate some sort of communication, it seems doubtful our heroes can work this out on their own.
  3. I agree with the above, that Finn made no effort to find Alec, which either doesn't make sense, or means he's really not into Alec as much as he seems. That being said, this was my favorite chapter so far. I felt that Alec was a real kid with anxiety, not just an angsty stereotype. I also liked getting to know River more.

    Two: Puppy

Why present a knowingly attention getting facade, then freak out when you get attention? This is a real question. I have often wondered why people do this, it doesn't make sense. If you want to fade into the background, it is impossible to do with purple hair in a tiny town. I also don't understand how Alec grew up in this town without meeting any other kids, even if he was homeschooled. Did he never leave his house? I agree with another commenter, his parents are beyond horrible and should not be parents.

    One: Encounters

There is angst, and there is unlikable, self-important, stereotype. For me, this character was a little too close to the latter. Your writing, however, will keep me reading to see if my opinion changes.

    Fractured (Pt. 1)

There is a fine line between challenging your readers and completely baffling them. I'm intrigued enough to continue because your writing is excellent. This chapter was more cohesive than the last, which was a bit schizophrenic.

    Chapter 1

Very intriguing start to the story. I wonder who or what the gnos are? Where do the boys travel? What happens when they get there? How many communities do this? I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

    Prologue

Dystopian fantasy with political overlays? I'm down!

    Chapter 24

We really like the rest of your stories! However, a little variety never hurt anyone.

    Chapter 24

Perhaps Caleb could do some sort of shifter community service, something necessary but unpleasant. Recovery of dead pups comes to mind, he would not forget his contributions to the evildoers. Will the next book involve international shenanigans?

    Growing Up

Since his father is in the "thread is never coming back" camp, hopefully he either gets caught in thread later, or saved by his dragonrider son in front of everyone he knows! I hope the battered young men make it to the weyr, they could find work there.

    Chapter 77

Essell's parents are both selfish people, both in their own ways. His mom only cares about her standing in her chosen society, her father about new species of animals. Essell exists on their periphery, until he intersects with their interests. What a cold way to grow up!
  13. Perhaps the ghost told Maurice to keep quiet! What does Colin know?

    Chapter 21

Ok, so Caleb is not a traitor or working undercover (or a twin or another shapeshifter), because those were guesses that were not correct. Occam's razor says the simplest answer is usually the correct one. Could Caleb have been invited because he is the alpha of a neighboring pack? Just because he is at the mine, doesn't mean that the evil guys are advertising their pup-slavery operation. Though the pack house would seem a more appropriate meeting place. There is probably a "legitimate" business as the cover for the real use of the mine.

    Chapter 21

Is Caleb involved - or - is he getting involved? He may not know all the details of the operation, but he knows about Elijah and the Nichols. If he is not a bad guy, could he be working on this with someone on the council? If he is a bad guy, he is a hell of an actor! I think I need to go back to some earlier chapters and do some rereading!
  16. I have not read the source novels, but it did not lessen my enjoyment of this story! Great fantasy and adventure, very well written.

    Jared

Yes!!! For both stories! I hope you and your husband made it through the ice/sleet/snow ok. I'm still stuck inside!

Intriguing world you created. I hope you expand on it. After our next dose of of wolves and mages! Please?

    The story

Loved it! I'm also hungry now.

    Friday

I didn't even know I was holding my breath until the end of the chapter and I heard my own audible sign of relief! Felicity is safe (for now) and just made the gutsiest decision of her life. Oliver's world is starting to implode -- professionally, personally, financially. This is the point at which abusers are the most dangerous and reckless, they feel they literally have nothing left to lose. Thank goodness this is set in England, not here in the U.S. where Oliver might have that gun! On a much lighter note, Eric is facing more changes, perhaps not confidently, but willingly.

He'll certainly cut a more dashing figure! He seems kind of like a Pebble Beach guy. Public course, but a little high-end, beautiful but wild. It's close to wine country, that would appeal to Ozzie. They might need to invest in some more Cali property!

We have seen glimpses of this CJ before (the motorcycle rally), but this was a new level! This controlled, directed anger is something that will serve him well in couple decades! Also the golf lessons, who has ever heard of a president that didn't do business on the golf course?

    Chapter 20

I think you need a new trainer! My current fave is half peanut butter whisky - half bourbon -- neat. Also, if Elijah absolutely needed to escape, he could shapeshift into a snake or something and get out.

    Chapter 9

Dalen is a classic "reluctant hero" in an epic fantasy. Wonderfully fun!

    Chapter 7

I can't imagine the king sending his much-loved cousin to a one-year assignment to "the end of the line" without some perceived benefit. I think there is more to the vale than we can see. The people seem to be much more pleasant than at the palace, and the distance from his mother can't hurt!
