I do not know why I always find myself 'unhealthily' empathising with characters ..in this case it is Robbie. He has given himself fully to someone who is only treating him as a place holder..Someone who is just using him because he cannot get the person he wants at the moment .. That makes Eddie selfish and an asshole ..He has had time to let down Robbie easily but his cowardice and selfishness makes him keep leading on the young lad on. I understand that this story is about identity and awakening but God are these men making such bad decisions..eh. At least Harry and Charles have taken steps to accept that they really are not heterosexual...even though they are doing the tires DL thing.. Eddie honestly elicited disappointment and irritation in me...I am like he is of a certain age, when one is expected to know and do better. @Tony S....see how you got me ranting..😂...This is how your story has got me engaged . I do not think Noah is really in asshole territory..I am inclined to think that he was used to getting sex easily and when he finds himself in a situation where the sex is off the the table, he has no idea how to deal with it.. As for manipulation, Nick does not come off Scott free here....he might not be aware of it but he has had his fair share of emotional manipulation of Jack. Nick was yearning for attention and validation...you notice how he tries so hard not to fall out with any of his friends?....i feel like that is why he is making all those mistakes because he did not really have friends.. loneliness can make even the wisest of folks make stupid decisions

That's the hubris..am referring to 😂😂😂....he overestimates himself ..not knowing he is also just another person's tool.

I just realised I did not fully complete my thought .Here in my country, males are non-tactile unless it is with the opposite gender. I don't know who set those unwritten rules to be honest..I am personally a tactile person.That being said, I was wrong in thinking the same standard applies else where.

Well, every terrorist thinks they are doing the right thing..Their thoughts are so warped that they never consider that their actions against their 'perceived' targets leave behind a lot of despair and suffering. What makes it really makes it even bleaker here is that Enrico acknowledges his actions are wrong ..but he will not stop.

I concur with you in regards to Davin.. in this chapter he comes off as someone who is perceptive and astute..I like to think he subverts the image that Joel had of him in his mind .Am inclined to believe even Cody and Gavin are like that. They just have not yet got a chance to talk to him one on one fully. The part about Joel feeling so isolated that he thinks he cannot be able to sleep was just so hard to read ..It is sad.

I think it was subtle....the interaction with Joel there shows Davin is someone who is tactile .Not to mention that part where he states he has his own secrets with that solemn tone to Joel ...I personally surmised that he is definitely not as straight and narrow .I could be wrong.

When I read the part where Enrico and Ezra were having that conversation....I could not help but think delusion does get even the best of us. The road to hell is indeed paved with good intentions ...Only in this case Enrico's 'good intentions' have a tinge of vengeance and deep rooted resentment' added in for good measure. In his mind,Enrico believes he is doing the right thing...but we the readers know he is actually doing the wrong thing.

This chapter was intense. If I were a therapist, Joel would be one hell of a client..It saddens me that he has mentally and emotionally sequestered himself lest people see what he is...That can make someone unravel completely like we saw him in the first chapter. No words ever sounded truer than these uttered by Davin Joel is going to have to learn to try to meet people half way which is a tall order given how his own Mother and Brother could just discard him so easily .

I like to think they are friendly..Colt,Davin and Gavin that is.. It's just Joel who is 'standoffish' and that tends to make people hesitant in reaching out . I think Joel is doing what he has been doing above for the last 8 years..Harken back to his conversation with Trace...He said he has been keeping people at bay since he was 10 when he started having same-sex attraction..At least that is what I discerned from that conversation..I could be wrong though .
