Chapter 1: Shadows and secrets!
Modified Cub commented on vanalas's story chapter in Chapter 1: Shadows and secrets!
Great start! I love the chemistry between Julian & Nathan and Dean seems to be a great wingman. Obviously, the grandfather is a douche. Sad that Julian lost his mother a year ago. His dad seems to be the buffer between the generations that tries to placate both. -
Sounds like Jody cemented his future with his first time. I'm quite sure Len will make it so that Jody ends up on campus! Can't wait for what's next!
-
I'm hooked - really excited to see what all Jody gets in to!

More sweet progress for #TeamJavin! I'd have thought Davin would've planned ahead for the potential explosions given he brazenly planned to sleep in Joel's room but teenagers don't plan ahead. I do wish Joel would play baseball because he truly does love the game but also understand him feeling like a traitor. The birthday party should be interesting - I hope we finally get to see the reunion with Cody and how he reacts to Joel's living situation. How long will it take for Javin to be noticed by someone in the family and what will those reactions bring? I'm excited to find out!

Totally agree @Seraph28! Too beautiful to mess up with too much commenting - loved it @LittleBuddhaTW!

I very much enjoyed this unique story and the Covid angle was interesting as well. Thanks for sharing it with us!

An awesome feel-good chapter! Loved it!

I totally understand that. I'm an emotional person also - I cried a couple times through this story for example. You have a kind heart though and are a remarkably talented writer ❤️

Powerful chapter indeed. The last paragraph was my favorite. It is definitely a tough path to endure as a young person coming to terms with their sexuality and trying to reconcile that with the "Christian" ways they'd been taught. I've been there and it took a toll.

What a cathartic chapter for everyone involved, including us readers. I'm glad to see Christian & Jonah come in like the cavalry and give Nick a chance to breathe. Nick's mom has made some inroads in getting Jack the help he needs. Interesting development with Christian kissing another guy - guess I missed his curiosity? It'd be hilarious if Jack teaches some of the boys how to die or bleach their hair! I'd like to see more of his emo side come out. Also, more Ms. Charice and a healing trip for the gang with Nana Bev in Seattle. I love this story and just want more in any way I can get it!

My goodness... what a powerful chapter! While I never contemplated suicide, the harmful rhetoric that spewed out so effortlessly of Julian and Hosea, is why I suppressed my sexuality for more than 30 years to my own father. I'm feeling many emotions here and I know this is a fictional story, but thanks for writing it and sharing it. What great men Marcus & Joshua are and thank goodness for Small-Fry Speed!

Great chapter! I certainly hope someone intervenes on Elisha's behalf!

I ache for Elisha and the world in which he's been subjected to. How utterly pathetic yet endearing that his best friend is a stray dog with whom he shares many similarities. Hosea is the worst kind of "Christian" and is about as flawed a human being as is possible. I can see Elisha & Caleb developing a friendship perhaps. It seems as though Elisha is heading towards ending up a ward of Marcus & Joshua perhaps? Definitely interesting developments are on the horizon for all of the key players.

Great chapter! It's interesting to see the ways in which the lives of the characters intersect.

I love reading about Joshua & Marcus! Poor Elisha - his story resonates with part of my own journey!

Great chapter @Krista! I don't think Trace was alluding to Joel coming out either, just to try and be more comfortable in his own skin. It's nice that they're putting him on their insurance and getting him a phone. And it was also comforting to see they're trying to plan a party for Joel & Cody. I think Davin is up to the task of convincing Joel to stay at their school and hopefully he'll give baseball with the War Hawks a try. I'm still 100% Team Javin!!!

Sixième partie : L’Entrée

Best chapter yet! Love the foodie aspects of this story also! Reese can help Dexter get his Michelin back if he'll put in the work and put down the pills and wine! -
An interesting and stressful day for Joel. I always hated lunchtime on the first day of middle and high school because you weren't sure who'd you want to eat with. Seems like the school is glad to have him, but Joel seems conflicted especially about the baseball team. That's a tough spot for him to be in and we learned that his grandfather was a special player to have his number retired. I wonder what Joel will do now? Go back to Tempton or just give up on baseball?

Great story!

It's good to see Jack & Nick were successful on their finals! Maybe they can have a chill summer. Also, I'm glad they cleared the air with Jonah and did it without blasting him to their friend group!

Damn, I'm not usually into bi stories, but with your exquisite writing and the hot-as-hell scenes in this tale so far, I'll make an exception. The start to this one is off the charts!- 23 comments

I thought Jack showed great maturity in how he handled Nick's confession. Jack's parents are the absolute worst! Miss Charice is an angel and I love how devoted and protective and proactive she is of her boys. Nick, Jack, & Jonah definitely need to be in individual therapy. The description of Nick's panic attack hit home for me - I had a bad one due to work stress and I wouldn't wish that on anyone - except Jack's parents. A powerful chapter - thank you!

Well, some advancement for Javin but they're still getting to know one another and it's kinda refreshing to see them be respectful of their surroundings but yet they're scared of getting caught too. I like where they're headed though. Their moment of exploration and bliss will come eventually. The coach seemed somewhat blindsided by hearing from Joel but I feel like he could've done more to figure out where he was and what was going on. Seems like the wheels are in motion for Joel to attend the new school. I still loathe Joel's mom and his spineless dad. I'm looking forward to Cody's visit to the ranch and what's next for Javin!

What a masterpiece of a story! This southern man appreciated the themes and characters and the descriptions and just the overall feelings. This is one of my favorite stories I've ever read. I'm grateful for you sharing your talent with us @CasualWanderer82 ❤️
