Chapter 1: Dance With the Devil
Bill W commented on Bill W's story chapter in Chapter 1: Dance With the Devil
I think that only the boy who recited that little spiel, because at least one of the others immediately reacted and didn't think it was a good idea that he'd done it. I believe they all learned their lesson, and fortunately the things that happened to them weren't permanent. Thanks for commenting, Terry, and I'm glad you enjoyed this semi-morbid tale. -

Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed this fantastical tale. There's just something about Halloween that seems to inspire my overactive mind, and I'm glad there are those of you out there that seem to agree with what I come up with, and there are more to come. -
Very interesting indeed.

Chapter 1: Dance With the Devil
Bill W commented on Bill W's story chapter in Chapter 1: Dance With the Devil
Thanks, Tony. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I thought we needed a little head start into Halloween, and this is the first of three stories I wrote for this year. Thanks again. -
It will be Halloween in a couple of weeks, and since my friends and I are all 13-years-old, we feel we’re too old to dress up and go trick-or-treating in the neighborhood. The problem is, we can’t decide on what we want to do instead. “We can each sneak a roll or two of toilet paper out of our house and then go around TP-ing the neighborhood,” Mason suggested. “That might be fun for a while, but we’d use up the toilet paper really quickly and then we’d have nothing to do for the re

Five thirteen-year-old boys feel they are too old to wear costumes and go trick-or-treating, so they make other plans. On Halloween night, they all go to one of the other boy’s home for a sleep over. The plan is to pig out on candy and Halloween cookies as they watch a horror movie on TV. The thing is, you won’t believe what happens once the movie ends.

I agree with you on both points. It was nice that Mac got to spend the holiday with his grandparents, since they're getting old and may not be around much longer. I'm also convinced the Devin will make an excellent Santa and the kids will surely be convinced that he's the real Santa. I'm glad you're enjoying this story.

I grew up in an area where there was both a large Italian community in one location, so there were large selections of Italian dishes in the various local restaurants, and not far away was a large Polish/Ukrainian community. In fact, during lent the Ukrainian Church would take orders for for homenade cheese perogies, onion perogies, and sauerkraut perogies, and my family would order large quatities of each, so I'm very familiar with both cuisines. I was only commenting that I was surprised to see both types of items on the same table at the same time.

Been there, done that.

Just so you know, entwined and intertwined have the same meaning, but entwined is the present tense and intertwined is the past tense.

When I was a kid, it seemed that every time I went fishing my line would get entwined in something along the shore. Since there weren't a lot of places that I could go fishing at the time, I had to learn how to deal with the situation.

I'm glad you enjoyed the two families getting together to celebrate the Fourth of July. As far as this chapter reminding you of mental games, it's probably because the main characters handled similar problems, but their skill sets allowed them to do it in different ways. In mental games, he could do it by using his mind to handle the problem, while here the boys are able to augment their bodies to handle the different situations. It was a good observation.

I read all of the stories in the first group of the Leap Of Faith anthology, and they all were all great and each one touched me in different ways, so it's really hard to pick a favorite. In most cases, it's like comparing apples and oranges with almonds and cashews. How do I pick a favorite out of those, since I love each one in a different way and for different reasons. It's like asking a parent which of their four or six children is their favorite. If they're smart, they love them all, although for different reasons and in different ways.

Great poem! But pasta and meat sauce and cheese pierogis on the same table? That's mixing Italian on one hand and a Polish/Slavic dish on the other hand, and they're both heavy on the dough.

People that act 'holier than thou' or seem to think they 'know more than anyone else' tend to be irascible when confronted or questioned. -
Thank you for your kind words and I'm glad you are enjoying this story. I hope you continue to find it as fascinating as the story continues.

It's the simplistic design and aesthetic appeal of the architecture that is making chalets to be more appealing than merely on the ski slopes.

If you're into science fiction and are looking for a thriller, then you need to read this story. It begs for a follow-up, which may come later, but this is still worth reading as it stands now.

2023 Anthology: Leap of Faith *Now Live*
Bill W commented on Valkyrie's blog entry in Gay Authors News
This is a great selection of fascinating stories. I recommend that everyone take time to read them. -
The word chalet is Swiss French from the Old French word 'chasel', meaning a farmstead. That came from the Latin 'casa', meaning a hut or a cottage.
-
A chalet is known for its sloping roofs and simplistic designs. Besides being found on ski resorts and mountainous slopes, they are also popular with lakeside communities in a rural woodsy setting.

I guess Al definitely didn't want to give Javelina back to Toad. Now, Todd's daughter is not only missing her kitten, she's missing her daddy as well. It was a twist I never saw coming, and now Al won't have to deal with Todd at work either.
