    Leave it to Gary to choose to write about the anniversary of a tragedy... and then morph it into a love story. Great job and I really enjoyed it. I'm sure Dirk and Peter were happy to see Woodrow and Paul move on and let go of their grief as well. Btw, you owe me a whole bunch of tissues to replace the ones I used to dry my eyes. 😜

    Talk about a riddle wrapped in an enigma. I loved how you took the celebration of a special anniversary and spliced it together with a puzzle that could only be solved by a stranger. Nicely done and a very compelling read.

    Unlike Carlos and I, instead of taking your story into the future, you went back to the past, and it was a very touching and tender recounting of a terrible and unjust time. Over the years it took its toll on the likes of Oscar Wilde and Alan Turing, along with my more who weren't as famous. It's a shame that it took so long for those in power to realize that being gay wasn't a crime, but at least it took less time for those of you in England and Wales to gain your rights than those of us in the US. Maybe someday the entire world will come to its senses and decriminalize being LGBTQ. Thank you for sharing this story, which I'm sure was emotionally painful for you to write.

    Thanks, Gary, and obviously I'm worried about how much longer we'll have our rights, although I won't be around in 2050. The immediate future is more important to me, and the idea of whether we'll retain our rights depends on which political party is in office. I'm sure the same thing is true in Canada, and possibly other parts of the world as well, so let's hope the more enlightened parties prevail. Thank you for your feedback, and you're correct. One of the most wonderful things we have to look forward to in our lives is finding someone we love and adore, and they feel the same way about us, and we'll get to live a long and happy life together. It is my wish for every loving couple, especially those here at GA.

    What a wonderful story that took us through a wide range of emotions, from youthful angst, desire, awkwardness, and self-doubt, to a foolish mistake that led to hatred and distrust. After some hard work and determination to overcome insecurity over a difference in age and a fear of being pitied, I'm sure we were all wondering how this was going to end. I think we were all holding our breath and praying this would work out, and it ended in a long-term and very happy relationship, with more than a touch of humor along the way. I truly enjoyed and loved this story. Kudos on a job well done.

    As you grow older it seems that reminiscing become a big and bigger part of your life, remembering the good times and the bad. Hopefully, the good times will bring smiles to your face, possibly even a little laugh or a few tears over those precious recollections. Thanks, Mrsgnomie, for pointing that out to us.

    Thank you for sharing your well written story and I'm sure that many of the GA family went through something similar, at least to various degrees. It's not an easy journey when you realize you're not like nearly everyone else. You might become paranoid and worry about what others will think of you or you might even loath yourself while worrying that others might discover who or what you really are. The teenage years can be the worst, but it doesn't mean it it will get better as you grow older. For that reason, it's nice when you find a community of like-minded and tolerant people where you can be yourself. I'm glad you found GA and it was the right fit for you, and now it's our turn to offer the same comfort and support to others, if only through our stories. Cheers.

    Carlos, it seems as if you and I were looking into the future as we wrote our stories for the anthology, and it was nice to see you throw a little history in the mix as well. I found this a fascinating story about a same-sex couple that manage to find themselves at the top of the US political hierarchy while also having raised a family that cherished the values they'd be taught. There was also a wonderful extended family that covered several continents, yet were as close, if not closer, than relatives that had been raised in the same city, state, or even a single country. If only the rest of the world could get along as well as they did without letting nationalities, languages, or religious beliefs interfere with their closeness. Cheers, you did a wonderful job.

    As you grow older, the memory of those many firsts may be all you have on a cold night. Remember them fondly and don't worry about the might-have-been scenarios. Relish the great memories instead.

    I think we've all been here at one time or another. Greed grips the corporate world and little concern is given to those that made it go and grow. Unfortunately, as earlier generations might have known, fixed pensions and lifetime care are a thing of the past and hard work is not always rewarded the way it should be.

    Yes, the government has put out so many lies and possibly covered up much to make this as confusing as possible. I wonder how much they really know and if they might even be cooperating or in contact with aliens that aren't from this planet.

    Yes, it's a story I wish each of us could live, and much unlike the story I wrote that was in the first anthology grouping, I pray that all LGBTQ people have a chance to continue enjoying the ability to marry. Thank you for the review as well.

    Yes, I took a journey farther into the future than you did, Carolos, but for an obvious reason - how long it took society to finally accept same-sex marriage. Those couples you mentioned have my admiration as well, because I know what it was like to live in a world where we were not only dismissed, but often dispised, and I hope we all find such enduring love. And thank you for your wonderful review as well.
