  1. wow, that's, umm an interesting piece of info... but i'll hold off my high horse for now since it's more than likely an isolated event... those kind of things (stupid decision made by gouv employees happens in every country)
  2. I know I took quite some time to respond back,,, It's not rude at all Kevin,,, or at least, I didn't take it as rude. I wrote the way I wrote it because it is how it's been said.. I never really pushed the topic simply because it always been something that you wouldn't talk about. It's really a don't ask don't tell about those kind of information. but for sure it's not being gay that cause the contraction of aids/HIV,,, it's not about myself,, but, my best friend.. there's a lot of gay in his family.. that we know of,, him, his brother, his cousin and an uncle are gay, there's also another brother and cousin that are bi. this kinda makes the genetic thesis more relevant
  3. Alright,, maybe some won't like what I'll be saying on this subject, but, writing in a thread title "South Carolina doesn't want gay tourists" just from that article is just plain wrong. The same goes to shouting for a boycott, or saying on the contrary that all the gay should go there not spending money. First of all, from what I can see, nobody here that made those kind of comment are actually in the state of South Carolina, and therefore I wouldn't be surprise if no one actually knows what's been happening in the state current news. And all the back story of it. For example, right after the school shooting in Dawson in september 2006, here in montreal, some journalist in toronto (meaning from another province), stated that as a people, the Quebecois are racist because all of our 3 school shooting were made by immigrant that we didn't integrated well. My point is that you can't make any judgement without having all the facts, and sometimes all the facts means more that all the facts on the very subject, specially if you gonna make a big statement like "they're racist" or "they don't want gay tourists. you don't know how touchy a subject can be for a population. Also, It's all a matter of opinion,, Montreal is what anyone could say a "gay friendly" city, but even so, if I'd learn that somewhere are around the world there was adds in the general public view that said the very same of the add in question here, I would be offended too. That add, yes it was during the pride week in London, but was shown in the metro where anyone could see. It is made with bad taste, I'm sure that if it was made differently it wouldn't have made such a fuss down in South Carolina. And now that it has made a fuss, obviously the biggest, loudest mouth will be heard the most, for this it is of course the right wing fundamentalist!!!! Therefore you can't use what it is shown in the news to make a big statement as South Carolina doesn't want gay tourists. Of course in a news article they would spend at least 90% talking about the detractors. to resume in one word, do not make sensationalist statement based on part of the information that is available
  4. As it has been said,, I think that now with the computerize era, they went from letter and envelope to email and IMs. Tho, I will agree that receiving actual mail gives it a more tangible touch to the whole process. I use to write all the time to my best friend, and I owe the fact that him and I are still friend to that fact. This guy , my best friend from school moved when we were in grade 3. From that moment till the point we both got computer and internet, we almost only communicate, to keep in touch, by letter... As for now, well, I have this friend in houston, that along with IM-ing and all, we do once in a while send each other letter/postcard.
  5. yay, you got it! here in canada, if you want to have the iphone, you have to buy it in the cell carrier store (the apple stores doesn't sell it) but don't you worry friday there was just as much waiting line. tho, you could simply go in a roger or fido (the carrier that has it) in smaller area, and the waiting line was cut by a lot. Usually for things like that, I'm more the"buying online" type. That's what I've done for every concert/sport events that I had tickets to. it's all much faster and easier... Like Steve Job said in his keynote when he first announce the iPhone .... "I'm presenting 3 revolutionary products, a revolutionary iPod with touch control, a mobile phone and a internet communication devise! an ipod, a phone, an internet communicator. An iPod, a Phone! are you getting it!?!" MW2007 keynote :P
  6. until the death of my grandma, it was something not to be discussed, but my uncle, my mums youngest bro, died in 1993 of aids and it was caused by his sexuality (in other words he was most likely gay)
  7. There's really no words that can really make it all go away.. I know, it's something really hard,, and therefore all my thought are with you and with your family
  8. Like Tiger said,, the lengths of post varies from subject to subject... It depends if it requires it. But,,, when a post gets too long, well it's like any story, if it's not coherent, not well planned out, well it will get boring and people will either fast forward, or simply skip to the next post. Also something that everyone can do to shorten the post to the maximum is, when you have a quote from a previous post (specially when it's a long one), to keep in the quotation only the part that is relevant and important to your post.
  9. convincing or arm twisting,, it all comes down to the same result and I hope that we'll live up to your expectation
  10. I'm celebrating the fact that I'm starting my training at my new job tomorrow. Not just any job, "the" job, full time and all. Also celebrating the fact that I had a great day with jason and friend today
  11. It's a good edition,, one of the best (in its newest form),,, One thing that I've appreciated,, this time around, the reviews weren't all made by the same guy... which is in my mind a great step...
  12. Ya,, william Shatner would be a good idea,,, after all he's a distinguish fellow montrealer I would take up the offer of the Celine Dion outfit,,, but I'm not really into transgender.... and my boyfriend just prohibited me... lol But we did go to the old port of montreal yesterday and got ourself a very tasteful piece of cake sporting the national colour. Also, Jason and me saw someone walking past us that looked incredibly like Justin Trudeau (the son of the most distinguished late prime minister).
  13. Happy Canada day to every canadian here on GA!!!! Today in 1867 came into effect the Constitution Act (which was then called the British North America Act) that created the Dominion of Canada. Also this year marks the arrival of the first settlers in the city of Quebec 400 years ago.
  14. Yay, this time I won't be overly late in writing my comments,, ,heheheh,,, good chapter CJ,, and I'll add a big "I knew it"... I knew that brandon wouldn't fall all the way down the cliff. I personally like the little phrase Brandon said as Dimitri had his final fall. Also, great thing that this time around, the technical side of the detonation wasn't too detailed ... The final stake here is to find Jerry, and what about the pending civil war,,,,
  15. Well for me it's simple,, Everywhere on the net i've used something that's related to where I am. This time, I wanted to mix it with some political belief,, so I came up with FrenchCanadian,, cause it's what I am,,
  16. LOL, I cannot stressed this enough,, that was so hilarious,,,, BRAVO!!!! ENCORE!!!
  17. ya, it is indeed really nice,,, I remember hearing about it on a helen show some time ago,,,, Tho I still find it a shame that he hasn't made any stop yet in canada... oh well nobody is perfect
  18. yes, it does look like it was forshadowed,,, but, I'm still not quite yet ready to say that Brandon died just yet. There's still a chance that he managed to, I don't know, take a grip on a tree root or something
  19. I certainly like that story, it comes from CJ, one of my favorite writers, what could I expect more,,, CJ, you've got a really great talent,,, doing some real hard work in researching all the info and it just makes your story more believable,,, As for this story by itself,, I guess there's not much to add other than just,,, REAL good job..
  20. I'll say that he prolly be the CURRENT emperor of Evil Cliffhanger on this site,, but I'll make a mention that I do believe that someone else will do/write later on a better tensed ending to take away that title from CJ
  21. I will also add that before Independence day, there will be Canada Day on July 1st. What it means to me,,, well, it's either driving to ottawa and watch all the Canada day show on parliament hill and all the events related over there (snowbirds, cannons shots,,,,) or it's going to old montreal assisting to all the activities over there; looking at the army trucks, EATING some of the free cake there and moreover having some good time. (tho I'll add that it's the official moving day for so many people in quebec, thanks god, for Jason, it's tomorrow)
  22. I seems like so many people changes name lately,,,, But I got to say,,, I love the name Meeko, it's just really cool
