  1. Like Tiger said,, the lengths of post varies from subject to subject... It depends if it requires it. But,,, when a post gets too long, well it's like any story, if it's not coherent, not well planned out, well it will get boring and people will either fast forward, or simply skip to the next post. Also something that everyone can do to shorten the post to the maximum is, when you have a quote from a previous post (specially when it's a long one), to keep in the quotation only the part that is relevant and important to your post.
  2. convincing or arm twisting,, it all comes down to the same result and I hope that we'll live up to your expectation
  3. I'm celebrating the fact that I'm starting my training at my new job tomorrow. Not just any job, "the" job, full time and all. Also celebrating the fact that I had a great day with jason and friend today
  4. It's a good edition,, one of the best (in its newest form),,, One thing that I've appreciated,, this time around, the reviews weren't all made by the same guy... which is in my mind a great step...
  5. Ya,, william Shatner would be a good idea,,, after all he's a distinguish fellow montrealer I would take up the offer of the Celine Dion outfit,,, but I'm not really into transgender.... and my boyfriend just prohibited me... lol But we did go to the old port of montreal yesterday and got ourself a very tasteful piece of cake sporting the national colour. Also, Jason and me saw someone walking past us that looked incredibly like Justin Trudeau (the son of the most distinguished late prime minister).
  6. Happy Canada day to every canadian here on GA!!!! Today in 1867 came into effect the Constitution Act (which was then called the British North America Act) that created the Dominion of Canada. Also this year marks the arrival of the first settlers in the city of Quebec 400 years ago.
  7. Yay, this time I won't be overly late in writing my comments,, ,heheheh,,, good chapter CJ,, and I'll add a big "I knew it"... I knew that brandon wouldn't fall all the way down the cliff. I personally like the little phrase Brandon said as Dimitri had his final fall. Also, great thing that this time around, the technical side of the detonation wasn't too detailed ... The final stake here is to find Jerry, and what about the pending civil war,,,,
  8. Well for me it's simple,, Everywhere on the net i've used something that's related to where I am. This time, I wanted to mix it with some political belief,, so I came up with FrenchCanadian,, cause it's what I am,,
  9. LOL, I cannot stressed this enough,, that was so hilarious,,,, BRAVO!!!! ENCORE!!!
  10. ya, it is indeed really nice,,, I remember hearing about it on a helen show some time ago,,,, Tho I still find it a shame that he hasn't made any stop yet in canada... oh well nobody is perfect
  11. yes, it does look like it was forshadowed,,, but, I'm still not quite yet ready to say that Brandon died just yet. There's still a chance that he managed to, I don't know, take a grip on a tree root or something
  12. I certainly like that story, it comes from CJ, one of my favorite writers, what could I expect more,,, CJ, you've got a really great talent,,, doing some real hard work in researching all the info and it just makes your story more believable,,, As for this story by itself,, I guess there's not much to add other than just,,, REAL good job..
  13. I'll say that he prolly be the CURRENT emperor of Evil Cliffhanger on this site,, but I'll make a mention that I do believe that someone else will do/write later on a better tensed ending to take away that title from CJ
  14. Okay, first, i gotta say that it's a real sad story, but the way you brought it made it pass all right. It really does fit the theme sooo well. A really well worked text, and really keep writing for the anthology, it seems you simply can't write a bad one,,,,
  15. Well done Corvus,, I really enjoyed your story, it's a really good story for anyone to read
  16. I will also add that before Independence day, there will be Canada Day on July 1st. What it means to me,,, well, it's either driving to ottawa and watch all the Canada day show on parliament hill and all the events related over there (snowbirds, cannons shots,,,,) or it's going to old montreal assisting to all the activities over there; looking at the army trucks, EATING some of the free cake there and moreover having some good time. (tho I'll add that it's the official moving day for so many people in quebec, thanks god, for Jason, it's tomorrow)
  17. I seems like so many people changes name lately,,,, But I got to say,,, I love the name Meeko, it's just really cool
  18. Kill Nancy?!? And have her die as a martyr!?! I wouldn't want that at all she'd be remembered as the poor little (slut) teen that died for nuthin. I wouldn't want them to make some foundation in the name of Jake and that queen bee!!!! In my mind she wouldn't deserve all the rememberance that she'd get. I'm sure that I had told you about the. Chapter that I have planned with the pov of noah.... I know that we've talked about him.... And btw thank you for finally taking the time for commenting sweets
  19. Hey there and welcome in the club of the posting members of GA we always love it when new members comes in even if they only post scarcely.... Enjoy and keep posting

  22. I know I'm getting late for it, but still, I'll wish Krista to get well soon, being stuck in recovery ain't never fun.
  23. Congratulation Kev, you are one of the very few people that I can really say have always made insightful post, that brings good ideas, new approach in discussions. way to go!
  24. Exactly!!! this is totally right... Like kevin said, everyone has their opinion. that is also true when it comes to finding a type of story you like yes, in the points that Nick raised on that website, I'll agree with some of them, but I won't blame an author that will use those because it's all a question of taste. That's why I don't really approve stuff like 'hey young writers, probies, here a list of what not to do'. Why? because every writing style is just as good as the other. The only difference is that there some 'style' that might be appreciated by more people than other 'style'. That doesn't make it any less valuable in term of literary. There is no good taste nor bad taste actually. And, actually, I think that you simply can't condemn anything. You can say that you *personally* don't *think* this story is enjoyable for this or that reason. Everything that is well written, (meaning that hasn't grammatical mistakes every other words) has as much literary value as anything else. No one knows enough to say that story is crap. All you can say is that, you didn't like it.
  25. I don't really think that harsh critics makes part of my writing any better. Or at least it depends on what they're talking about. If they're pointing out a mistake or something that's not coherent, that's helping. asking for something that you'd want to see more in upcoming chapter (like more description of this or that, having more detail revealed for a character) that's fine and helpful as the author will realize that he might not have explained something as well as he thought he had and might have to address to it. What makes our writing better is writing... the more that you will write, the more you will be confidant about how you write, and you will improve yourself. When it's someone that will simply tells you what parts annoys him/her... well I feel for that someone but that won't make me change what I've written or what I will in the future. When I see people saying 'this story was good, but using *this* clich
