That last one opened itself. Gerald has become sentient and is staging an intervention. - 🤣Yeah, things are bad when your own equipment is out to get you. And as any writer will tell you, starting is half the battle. The other half is fighting off the existential dread with wine and increasingly creative procrastination methods. - Liquor usually has the opposite effect on me. I end up working on everything, and then it turns out messy and incohesive. Then, off-tune singing happens. He participated in online writing groups where he offered cheerful encouragement to fellow writers, even as he silently tortured himself by following 847 successful otthors on social media. - It's a balancing act, the love of reading stories and the love of sharing stories of your own. Gotta give both sides enough room to breathe. Of a very specific, very gay, very soft-furred creature named Bo... - Surely the softest of furs. 🤣 He dedicates his life to pointing others in the right direction. Pretty fly for a cacti. - 🤣Maybe Fernando's not such a bad succulent, after all? Same with Devon? This was a fun take on the anthology theme!

2025 Anthology - Creature Feature - Wrap-Up
BendtedWreath commented on Valkyrie's blog entry in Gay Authors News
Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this post with all of them listed! It makes it so much easier to go back and remember where I left off reading! Edit: And I just realized my story capped the end, which is ideal, as I was going to respond to anything posted on it last. Awesome. -
Skee's gold and blue eyes dilated as he stalked his prey. The song sparrow he called Zipi—short for the annoying "Zipi-zipi-coo-coo-ee-ee-kree" that the jerk always trilled—perched atop a branch of a fallen log. Skee lowered himself further, feeling the dirt and grass beneath his paws. Zipi's time was finally at an end. With a graceful leap, Skee launched himself at the sparrow, hissing as the flap of one of Zipi's tiny wings brushed against the top of his left ear. Skee leaped high ag

Skee is trying to catch a song sparrow that eludes him. However, he is not the only predator in the woods. Will Skee ever catch his prey?

@chris191070had some well-formed ideas, the twins being opposites in some ways being one of them. Thanks on behalf of us both!

Hmm. Thirds likes redheaded characters. 🤔 I suddenly regret turning one into a bully. It was more that his brother of all people was the one who called him that name he didn’t like. That thought also crossed my mind, yes.🤣 All Chris's ideas, I just tried to flesh them out as best I could. Glad you had fun. @chris191070 chose the cast. I helped provide their speaking lines. 😂 Even I don't know what we'll be working on next time.

Unless the reader is like me, jumping in without reading anything...genre, summary, warnings, or who even wrote it until afterward. The amount of times I've come across main character deaths, gore, and less than consensual scenes... still don't regret reading, though.

What the Hell Was That?
BendtedWreath commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in What the Hell Was That?
For a wild moment, I was worried about that, too! I didn't know whether Lee was going to stick to the subtle realism or if he'd drop us into an old school "The Thing" movie style creature feature. 🤣 -
Thank you on behalf of both of us. No real GA members were harmed during the writing of this story. 😅 Wait, victims? Uh-oh. 🤣
-
Both authors are only shown on the story profile. For some reason, it won't show on the first chapter, though. I'll have to remember that for any future collabs. Yet, we wreak mayhem when working on projects together. 😈
-
Thanks on behalf of us both! @chris191070, listed as co-author. 😁

Like I said, I was just portraying Chris's ideas. 😂 That's also why I tossed in the warning that no real GA members were harmed during the writing of this story. I'm glad it was entertaining. Chris was on a roll. I just joined in. Chris had that in mind for them from the start, the opposite personalities. That may have been one of my few additions. Guilty as charged. The idea wasn't mine, but I aided and abetted: Ben: Should Demon get there before Myr or Talon die from bloodloss? Chris: Demon arrives when Myr is dead from bloodloss, and Angel is still sucking Talon dry. Ben: Oh no! Poor Myr! 😂
-
@chris191070 had the ideas. I tried my best to portray them. We were close to the wire and wanted to make the deadline. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks on behalf of both of us.

The suspense builds as a couple of kids uncover H.O.U.S...Hellbenders of unusual size.

What the Hell Was That?
BendtedWreath commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in What the Hell Was That?
"Funky looking baby alligator, ain't it?” - Oh dear... "Wait here, then.""Don’t go, Ian!""I'll be alright." - Famous last words. "We gotta go to the hospital. I went and got his fingers." - Quick thinking, and a brave endeavor. Hunter Harris regained over ninety percent mobility in both his left pinky and ring fingers. It took over six months to attain that level, but they rarely bothered him for as long as he lived. - Whew! -
This was a very vivid world that felt lived in, along with equally colorful characters.

Yet, it only took one open door or window to draw in passersby. - That's rough. "Your hair is so pretty!""His everything is pretty," Riya commented. - 😂 "Oh, for crying out loud!" Riya huffed. "Off to the hobby hut. Both of you." - 🤣 I enjoyed these characters and their world.

Lovesquatch: A Culinary Cryptid Romcom
BendtedWreath reviewed Rafy's story in 2025 - Creature Feature
This entry is a lighthearted, comedic adventure of a chef who unintentionally finds more than just his true inner self out in the woods! Well worth the read. So much fun.-

So, this was it. The afterlife. And the afterlife, it turned out, had terrible catering. - 🤣 “No more. There are lines, and you, sir, have boiled them.” - 🤣 This was a delightful read. I'm glad Rowan sorted things out for himself and that Sam wasn't caught by the rangers.

A very valid question that's well beyond politics, if you ask me.

Only a Monster Would...
BendtedWreath commented on astone2292's story chapter in Only a Monster Would...
Those tiny pretzel bags are the most miserable little things when you have connecting flights and have been traveling half a day. The loudest sound in the passenger cabin isn’t a baby crying, but a grown man's rumbling stomach. 🤣- 33 comments

This was an excellent choice as a starter for this year's anthology. It transports you into a peaceful moment that you feel wrapping around you like a warm blanket.
