    Obsessed

No matter how thin or in shape I get into, what I see in the mirror is the big girl who went to the Prom with her cousin
  2. Congratulations on your vegetarianism! I've had bouts of vegetarianism usually lasting 4-6 months. If you feel like you're falling off the wagon, here are some tips: 1) If you crave eggs, think of the little white fetus thingie in eggs. Imagine that it's just a premie chicken. Try to imagine where the head is, etc. 2)If you start craving beef, thing about those commercials about Downer cattle that Peta captured of slaughterhouse workers trying to coax injured cows into the cutting room. 3) Read Upton Sinclair's 'The Jungle' Oh and regarding the guy you're dating... I think you and Kevin have a good process. Eventually he'll get a clue and just be mad at you and think you're a shallow jerk. I'd rather be mad over sad, so you're probably doing him (and his next BF) a favour. Take Care, Vic

    Obsessed

I've been obsessed with fitness lately. I've been a two-a-day'er for the last 3 months as I've been trying to get into better shape. Usually I hit the gym at lunch for an hour workout and I usually did an afternoon/evening activity like rollerblading, biking, or jogging. Well for the last 10 days, I've been doing 3 a day'ers. At 5am I jog for 3-4 miles, at lunch I workout at the gym, and in the evening I've been biking 16 miles. I only have 2 lbs to go until my goal, but I'm starting to stress about slowing down. I mean, do I lose a few extra lbs so I have some spare when I can pig out? What happens when I go down to 2-a-days or *gasp* even 1-a-days? What's really weird is that I'm not even sore. In the past, I thought I could only run 2 or 3 times a week otherwise I'd get sore knees. But now I've run 10 days in a row and my knees are fine. Weird... I've also been eating about 1500-1800 calories a day, lot's of fruit, lot's of greens, few fats. Some of my friends are threatening an intervention, but I alleviated their concern when they saw me eat some french fries . Oh, I got cruised on the bike path a couple days ago. The trail I ride on dead ends at a parking lot. Nothing there but this isolated parking lot. This cute dude was there sitting in his truck but didn't have a bike or gear. We waved at each other cause that's what you do on the bike path. The dude then got out of his truck and walked right in front of me looking at me the entire time. When I realized what he was doing, I just looked straight ahead (luckily I had my sun glasses on). He walked away about 20 feet and then came back in front of me looking at me the entire time. I'm sure I had this 'oh shit' look on my face behind my sunglasses. I just kept looking forward silently saying to myself 'please don't say anything'. He eventually gave up and I got on my bike and got out of there before he walked in front of me again. I'm not sure why I panicked. I mean, I guess I should be flattered. But anonymous encounters like that aren't really my thing. And seriously, I had just rode my bike 8 miles. Hello, sweat, dirt, stink??? Did you know that a Baskin-Robbins Peanut Butter cup sundae has 1200+ calories? That's like 1/2 to 2/3 the calories someone should eat in an entire day!!!!! Who could eat one of those???

    Fighting Back

Who you gonna call? Super-Eric, savior of queerlings everywhere! Seriously, when push came to shove, you chose to stand up for someone else. Way to go!
  5. Good luck Eric and be strong. Life might be tough in the beginning as you start out on your own, but you deserve to be happy and not be looked down upon. It sounds like you can still have a decent relationship with your Dad & Sister. Your mom...you should send her an email back saying how disappointed you are in having a mother who doesn't love her son for who he is. Take Care, Vic

    how dare me.

  7. It's difficult to take Sylar seriously as Spock .
  8. I used to be heavy, but when I came out to myself at about 26-27yo, I committed to losing weight. Through a combination of exercise and eating better, I was able to get my weight down from a high of 215 down to 155lbs. Losing weight is easy, but keeping it is really tough. I've found that it's a constant struggle to keep it off. I can blink and gain 5-10lbs. I fell off the wagon about 2 years ago, and after hitting 200lbs, I jumped back on and was able to lose 40lbs. Even now really it's all about more exercise and fewer calories. 1) Find exercise activities that you'll enjoy. Whether walking, going to the gym, bike riding, rollerblading, or jogging. If you have a dog, walk it. Anything to burn calories. 2) On the food side, cut back your calories. Cut out some of the fat, sugar, fried foods. And you can't just cut back on these things for your 'diet'. They should be lifestyle changes that you'll keep for the rest of your life. 3) Keep a journal. Track what you eat and track your weight. It will help you focus. Good luck and keep us posted! Take Care, Vic
  9. Happy 25th Birthday Vancey!!! I hope you enjoy hitting the quarter century mark.
  10. Good policy. It's hard to sit there and just let it all happen, but it's probably best for everyone involved. Hopefully a new puzzle will develop from all the pieces
  11. Happy 20th Birthday Maddy!!!! You made it out of teenager-dom in one piece. Welcome to your 20s!
  12. Happy 19th Birthday Kurt!!! Don't have too much fun otherwise you'll end up with another tattoo
  13. Happy 24th Birthday Ben!!!!! I hope you're lurking and see this. And hope you're doing well in your new life post-college.
  14. Glad to see you're alive and kicking. I was starting to think you were back with books are cheating guy Have fun on your rain day. We had a high wind day today, so it drove me crazy to not be able to go out and bike or rollerblade. Take Care®, Vic

Ohhhh, I knew that! I should have warned you about it (would it have stopped you )?
  16. Hi Luc, I hope your recover goes well and it was good to see you in GA Chat last night. Take Care, Vic
  17. Congrats Buddha! It sounds like you're aware of this, but in case not regarding the $8K credit. Apparently you can amend your 2008 tax return to get the $8000 credit now, instead of waiting until you file your 2009 return in April 2010.
  18. I'm with Graeme, there is a tiny-tiny chance that the ex-bf saw the light, had an epiphany, or had some life altering event (like causing a car crash while driving which results in the death of his brother) that caused him to change for the better. It sounds like your friend is leaning towards forgiving, and it really isn't your place to stop it. However, you can caution your friend to be cautious if he does want to rekindle a relationship with the ex-bf. That's not saying he's making a mistake (which honestly, you don't know if it will be a mistake). It's likely that he's making a mistake, but it's not a guarantee. How about this? Get your friend to agree to cut bait at the first sign of trouble. Strike 1 and he's out. Take Care & Good Luck, Vic
  19. Happy 20th Birthday Martin!
  20. I'm glad you posted this blog as it was good to get reacquainted with you and your story. I'm extremely happy to know that you'll eventually be getting back to Cross Currents. It's one of my long term favourite stories. I think I've been following CC just as you started posting it and if memory serves me correctly you were active in the Fraternity Memoir's yahoo group(s). It's good to have you active here on GA. Take Care®, Vic

Oh Good! Michelle said you promised her Ghiradelli's I never pictured you liking the hairy type, but that guy seemed cuddly & mellow. Have fun up there!
  22. California's constitution is relatively easy to amend. It only requires a simple majority of voters to do so via the initiative process (which is what happened in Proposition 8).
  23. Wow, Iowa.... a unanimous decision too.... Iowa high court legalizes gay marriage in state
  24. I thought the biggest one was Joe 'resigning' from GA and Snowy's response
