I was reading an article in the Economist (a London based magazine), and I came across the following line in an article: "With the United States at the fag-end of a disastrous presidency, Brazil assembled 33 countries from across the Americas to discuss a host of issues ranging from defence to the economic slowdown." I thought fag meant cigarette. Can someone translate? I mean, in the context it sounds like it means tail-end. Or does it translate more like smoldering, like a cigarette.

Yummm, your mom was my type of gal. I love sweet & sour pork (when done right at a high quality chinese restaurant). It was the first dish I remember having at a chinese restaurant. I don't really eat it here in california. The chinese restaurants around me tend to use fattier/tougher cuts of meat and I generally stay within the white breast meat family of dishes. Ummm, can I ask how many of the 6,372 members of GA you're having unresolvable conflict with? If it's less than 100, well that's a silly reason to leave GA. GA's a big place, you don't have to interact with those you don't get along with. Accept that some people don't like you (i'm sure there are over 100 who don't like me ). You can co-exist with them on GA.

I never doubted you were serious. Anywho, I hope you make a good decision that brings you peace of mind.

Tim, If you need a break, I suggestion you just take a break. Many people step away from GA for varying amounts of time for various reasons. Having your account disabled seems more a dramatic statement to try to get the attention of those you're having a personality clash with. You and the clashees all probably need a break from each other. Take your break (but leave your account enabled) and come back when your ready. GA should still be here (assuming there are enough PCMs ). And if you decide that you're mentally better without GA, then your account will just remain inactive. But don't close the door to something that you love prematurely and rashly. Take Care, Vic

When I bought the current house, one of my requirements is that there not be an HOA. There are so many ways HOAs can go wrong (as you've listed - yes your experience is very common), and rarely have I heard anyone say 'we love our HOA'. And yes, you must go for defensive purposes only. If you're there at the meeting, it's less likely that they talk about you behind your back or find reasons to fine you. But don't say too much. otherwise you'll end up on a committee

Peladon (and 3 other Republic Planets), 10-15 Empire planets, and probably several Federation planets are all probably going to fall & be occupied by the aliens. That was not the case for the examples I pointed out. For me, there are certain scenes/lines that I remember from all the stories I've really enjoyed. For example, if I read a story and one of the characters had written his phone number in the dirt to pass on to someone he was interested in, I'd have that similar twitch in the back of my head. Hey Jordan, Let me start by saying I've really enjoyed reading In Due Time. You have a writing style that captivates and I feel like I'm right there, in the story. While being engrossed in the world you've built in Chapter 12, I couldn't help but pause (or fall out of it a couple times) when my mind found comparisons to things I've read in other stories (The Ordinary Us & The Log Way). In the beginning scene where Caydence was keeping Jake company, it felt similar to the scene in The Ordinary Us where Trina was keeping Quinn company at his house (Ch9-Ch10). While reading it, I thought "hmmm, I wonder if Chloe & Ryan are going to show up (just like Marissa & Brad showed up in TOU - where a heated discussion ensued with Marissa making disparaging comments about Trina)." Then Chloe did show up and had some unpleasantries with Jake & Caydence. I thought "well, it's not the same, only Chloe showed up", but then again, Ryan was there waiting in the car. And then in this scene: When reading that, my first thought was that Owen had that same observation about Aiden in TLW. Here's the actual scene in TLW Ch 4: And then this...
