I wouldn’t know, unfortunately… ;–)

But he’s pretty! ;–)

It’s good to know you haven’t abandoned ‘Red’ in Russia! It’s been a long time since we’ve visited this gang. I’ve especially missed Stan. ;–)

We give you Mel Gibson. Really. Please take him. We don’t want him!

The series was written in real time. Each column was written just before it was published. That meant that real events could, and were, incorporated into the story while they were happening (as with the visit of QE II and Prince Phillip). ;–) The difference with the Netflix series is that it’s not based on a book this time. ;–)

I first encountered the stories when they were serialized in a San Francisco newspaper. I later found the books that had been edited from the newspaper columns. I watched the (first) three miniseries that were produced. I never got to see the musical though… ;–) And I’ll be trying to locate the new Netflix series soon. ;–)

Why am I cynically thinking that Junior Advertising Copywriter is a title and position created just for Aidan? Why do I keep thinking that there were only Advertising Copywriters and their supervisors before? And what will Aidan’s new responsibilities be – the very same as his current job? ;–)
-
These two know how to backpedal faster than any other couple on GA! One step forward, two steps back. They’re so gun-shy they keep sabotaging themselves. ;–) The next chapter better not have Aidan bolting back to his cold and lonely little apartment! ;–)

Here’s a more specific suggestion. I have several favorite authors, and like you, I prefer not to read a story focused on explicit sex. Three of my favorite authors are Geron Kees, Mikiesboy, and lomax61. Geron does tend to include science fiction characteristics in many of his stories, but if you don’t usually like sci-fi, sample the first chapters before you skip the story (you might find that you like his storytelling enough to get hooked – I did with his take on Zombies). Tim (aka Mikiesboy) has written an extremely wide variety of stories with all sorts of situations and characters. Brian (aka lomax61) creates unusual situations with interesting characters who sometimes cameo in his later series (Hooking Trout was controversial and the unhappy reactions to the story mean that it will probably never be completed). Checking your Profile tells me you’re a few years older than I am. Tim wrote Changes about a married couple. northie has two sets of characters who are ‘more established’ than many of the protagonists on GA. Soul Music and Never Too Late will both be going on a hiatus until next year, but each has plenty of chapters to keep you busy. Never Too Late features a curmudgeonly, but lovable character who is retired and slowly Coming Out. northie is English and these two series are set in England. Geron’s Doorways series does feature a grandfather (less so in the first story in the series). I hope this helps! ;–)

The Moon Landings. A great achievement or an elaborate hoax?
Former Member replied to Dodger's topic in The Lounge
Are you also suggesting a link between imposter syndrome and having the first name ‘Neil’? Is this why Neil Tennant wears those outrageous outfits that often disguise his appearance? Was this how Neil Patrick Harris was able to so convincingly portray not only a teenaged doctor early in his career, but later a womanizing Lothario? ;–)- 13 replies

No, that was the NSA who built that mysterious, featureless black building! ;–)- 13 replies

NASA didn’t have the budget to build even one Monolith! ;—)- 13 replies

Ministers get days off? I don’t think my dad ever did. Except when he was on vacation (just two weeks each year). ;–) Their only saving grace will be if the school has a strong anti-homophobia policy. Of course, if there’s a strong no-fighting rule, that would over-rule any protections they would otherwise have. Eddie will suffer no matter whether he’s suspended or not.

Thank you! That’s the kind of information I was looking for. The fact it will also work with my MacBook Pro and Mac mini is a nice bonus… ;–)

Stop it! All of you authors love loose threads (aka cliffhangers). You just don’t want to admit to your guilty pleasure! ;–)

WC is European for toilet (Water Closet). ;–)

My parents were never young and immature. My mother was the oldest of five daughters (and no sons). My father was the older son (with two older sisters). They were always adults even when they were young. They grew up during the Great Depression as children of immigrants who were legally denied the right to Naturalize until some time after WWII. Their favorite line was, ‘It’s too expensive, we can’t afford it.’ It didn’t matter which parent you asked, the answer was always the same. We were very poor and they had high expectations of us. My parents would have made it very clear to us that what we did was unacceptable, embarrassing to the family (and anyone who looked even remotely like us), and would follow us the rest of our lives and those of our descendants if we ever pulled a stunt like that! ;–)

Oh, but Adam’s mother probably knows (knew?) lots of ladies who lunch! ;–)

Last night I just saw a PSA (Public Service Announcement) urging students to befriend others who are sitting alone in the cafeteria. While it’s a worthy cause, I have to wonder about how many teenagers are up at 2 or 3am to see the ads. It’s kind of an old ad too, I’ve seen it many times in the past, but I still can’t remember the group or its slogan. ;–)

Wow! That really was a bang! I was always suspicious of the Uncles and Jason is devious enough to try to frame his naïve, younger brother, Kyle. On the West Coast, C&W (frozen vegetables) is a well-known brand. It refers to the states of California & Washington and the brand is now owned by Birds Eye. I love their Petite Frozen Peas. Birds Eye might get litigious about a fresh vegetable brand that’s similar to their trademark. ;–) But WC would suggest something else altogether! ;–)

I figure you guys are the ones to ask. When iOS 13 is released, PS4 and Xbox Bluetooth controllers will work with iPhones and iPads. I’m just looking for a basic one, not the ultimate controller. One that’s well-supported (ie Sony or MS) would be best. Which game controller is better, PS4 or Xbox?

Sir Ian? Sir Elton? Sir Patrick? (And now I’ve run out of LGBTQ+ British Knights, Lords, Ladies that I know of and had to add an LGBT-friendly/‘honorary Gay’ name to the list. Most of us on this side of the world don’t pay much attention to titles.) ;–)
