Prompt 518 Who gave you the right to read my journal?
Former Member commented on Timothy M.'s story chapter in Prompt 518 Who gave you the right to read my journal?
You’re still playing that part, Princess! …was another reference to Rob. But I enjoyed the reference to a speedo-clad Jazz even if he is underage. (I always try to imagine him a decade or two older anyway!) -
Some of us peak earlier than others. Like a Replicant, you’ve burned brighter… ;-)
-
I guess, the words on paper have worth. It is like throwing a stone into the lake. Ideas tend to cause little waves, sometimes not easy to realize. :-) Beautiful thoughts.
-
That’s okay. He’s old now. He’ll forget about it in a minute or two… ;-)
-
Sorry, might be a tad late. But happy birthday

I think Terry (and Mikiesboy as the writer) was even more clever than we initially gave him credit for. ‘Jae’s Honey’ was, of course, Dave. So really, Terry was also acknowledging his love of Dave too!

April 8 : Emi, A Man of Mistakes
Former Member commented on Emi GS's story chapter in April 8 : Emi, A Man of Mistakes
Hi Emi, you poem holds many emotions. And I think there are really a lot of things everyone of us felt. But how nice it is, that we are nonconforming creatures. That makes us all sharing something, dosen`t it? Don`t be too hard on yourself, in your life. We have all the time we need, to become what we can be. Hugs Lyssa -
Hi tim, I am glad that your poems were found. And as I suspected before, they are great and worth reading and thinking about. I love the one from April 4. most. It is so simple and says so much. xoxo Lyssa

Keep saying it. Someday someone will believe you.

That sounds similar to the recent Facebook incident where there were many people watching abuse take place live and no one called 911.

As far as I can tell, you used the word first. I had described the kind of guy I was attracted to and you decided that description matched the term Twink. I also said that most young guys are uninteresting to me for sustained conversations and jokingly told you and W_L to contain your disappointments – still not calling you a Twink. You then asked who called you a Twink? I responded that your age and avatar are the only evidence we have to go by. The implication was there, but I never actually used the word. Then you did your Baby Queen/Princess thing and denied being a Twink. And you claimed to be too manly to be a Princess despite all the evidence to the contrary. So I still say that I never called you a Twink even if I implied it.

I’ll admit to calling you a Drama Queen, but I think an online quiz gave you the Twink title… I’d like to see Zombie back too! ;-)

The Distance in Your Eyes
Former Member commented on jkwsquirrel's story chapter in The Distance in Your Eyes
Just three immature little teenaged brats. There’s always some truth in what they tell each other, but there’s a lot of exaggeration and untruth in there too. They wouldn’t be able to hurt each other so much if they didn’t care about each other so much. Will the story continue after your little break? -
Ah. I couldn’t figure out why you felt the way you did. Around here, the County Sheriff (head of the Sheriff’s Department) is an elected position. That’s supposed to give the citizens input in the direction and policies of the department. Police Chiefs are usually appointed by the City’s Mayor. In my previous city, the Police Department has been going through a series of scandals off and on for decades (rogue elements planting evidence, multiple officers having sex with a minor, tipping off that minor, excessive force, etc). The Police Department has a Court-mandated manager monitoring its behavior. By contrast, the Sheriff’s Department has had only one major scandal (signing a contract with a health care provider without sending it out to bid). The departments have very different tasks with the sheriffs only providing non-traffic-related policing in unincorporated areas (non-city) and staffing the county jail. While some of that unincorporated area is suburban, most is fairly rural. The population density is lower and the ethnic mix is less diverse. I always thought they should merge the PD for my former city with the Sheriff’s Department, but some of the surrounding suburbs would probably object. There is no hint that anyone else ever agreed with me. And the court system has not even hinted that they’d want to force a merger.

When I used to read comic books (back in the ‘70s), my brother and I always chose DC. Superman and Batman mostly. That was after we had graduated from Disney (we were still in elementary school). Our parents only let us buy them for our several times a year 400 mile trips to visit our favorite cousins. We were quieter and less annoying if we had something to read and the candy of our choice on the roughly 8 hour drive. Eventually, I started reading car magazines instead. I never cared much about the mechanical parts, it was all about the style and design. I enjoyed the Christopher Reeves Superman movies, but was never interested in Batman much. I remember the campy ‘60s Batman TV series and remember watching the George Reeves Superman reruns. I also enjoyed the Bill Bixby/Lou Ferrigno Incredible Hulk TV show (I remember owning one of the Levis shirts that was shredded in one episode – Levis supplied the clothes worn on the show). But I enjoyed the earlier X-Men movies, the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies, Captain America (sigh, Chris Evans!), and the Avengers movies. Robert Downie Jr’s Iron Man annoys me. Yes, I know I skipped some of the other TV shows and movies. I never watched most of them. I’m not really in firmly either camp.

Now that you’re 22 (but not yet in PDT zone), will you be choosing one single title from among the numerous ones you’ve claimed? Pi Boy. Drewbear. Twink. President-for-life. Drama Queen. (i’m sure there are many, many others.) Oh, and Happy Birthday!

Pepsi’s hit new White Lives Matter web ad featuring one of those overexposed (in more than one sense) reality TV show ‘stars’ is potential focus of a lawsuit from the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office because they used SFPD badges.

Just like with the others, it should have been obvious to me who ‘Alex’ was since you write both stories! But I read too many stories with similar names (especially Alek from LitLover’s Choices). I’m easily confused. ;-)

I really would rather not have the enforcer making the laws. Theoretically, cooler heads will think through the consequences when writing laws (although we know that’s not always the case). An enforcer would likely be looking for ways to make their lives easier, not necessarily make the world fairer.

Happy birthday!!! Have a great day.

Flying cars? The future of transportation or stupid ideal?
Former Member replied to Former Member's topic in The Lounge
California mandates a certain percentage of electricity be generated by renewable sources, increasing over time. Naturally that means hydroelectric dams, but also solar (panels on roofs as well as large-scale reflective generation plants in the desert) and wind turbines. There is even a relatively small geothermal plant in the Wine Country area. In my area, I have the choice of using the large regional gas and electric utility (with a horrible safety track record) or chose an alternate provider and paying the large utility only a transmission fee. I have chosen the alternate, but not their more expensive even higher percentage renewable source option. -

I love tangents! ;-) I was reading that Iceland and the UK are in very early stages of talks to build an electricity transmission line undersea to export clean geothermally-produced electricity to energy-hungry Britain. That could help the UK shutdown some very dirty coal-fired generation plants… ;-) -

You know… You could try a different sort of prompt for the Prom chapters. Each chapter should have a different song as the theme. How many songs do they play at a Prom? (I never went to any of mine.) That would only change your pace very slightly. You’re on track to get to Prom sometime in late 2025 or so. ;-) -
