That’s how you make ‘Huevos Rancheros’ for people who think that Wonder Bread is tasty and nutritious. ;–)

    Jaymes & Nathan

So Jaymes & Nathan have just met Ted! How did he get into their room from the one next door? Did Ted jump from one balcony to the other? ;–) I hope Martin will fully recover from whatever medical procedure he endured. There are so many procedures that minimize, but do not eliminate, the underlying problem. I remember Martin & Gallager being older gentlemen and we older men tend to be more susceptible to more serious conditions than the youngsters. ;–)

In the Seventies, my mother had a ‘chili sauce’ (Heinz?) that wasn’t a whole lot stronger than ketchup – we used it on scrambled eggs. ;–)

    Chapter 17

Why does it feel like I should be rereading all the (chronologically) older stories so I can make more sense of what’s going on? ;–) If it’s not human trafficking, what else can it be? Medical experimentation? Disposal of sex slaves who tried to escape? Victims of the latest party drug?

    Sweet Men

I can see it now: the one time when my fantasies come true and he’ll look like the Thing from the Fantastic Four with craggy, calloused skin everywhere… ;–/
  6. It’s amazing how even our closest friends can have secrets that we never knew! Cole had no idea that Taran wasn’t just having temper tantrums. With the way Taran acted, I’m surprised that he was never furious with Cole, so Cole could see that he had an extremely generous side after the anger. But maybe Taran should see a therapist about his inappropriate anger anyway… ;–)

    Chapter 13

PFLAG is such a wonderful organization. It works by having parents and friends talk to each other about their experiences dealing with a loved one who is LGBTQ+. There’s a reason why PFLAG always gets the biggest cheer of any other contingent in the Pride Parade! ;–)

Elijah! I remember him! Did he possibly go by other names in the distant past? Or am I just getting another mysterious character confused with him? ;–)

    Chapter 15

So Benny goes from being an editor, albeit one entrusted with the firm’s most important author, to CEO and Managing Director after having been fired by the previous management team? ;–) I hope PeacherCorp and Magnamedia will be providing plenty of support to the inexperienced new Wardour's executive! Is Benny’s personality really suited for the role? I’m glad they returned him to Wardour's, but it seems like a huge change in responsibilities.

I have seen so many stories on the news about people who were in similar situations. There were people who drove through flames to escape fires (in the ’91 Oakland Hills Fire as well as several more recent ones). I remember hearing of a group of people who survived by jumping into a pool or pond. When the fire sweeps down from the hills, pushed by very strong winds, you only have seconds to leave. Spraying your house down with a garden hose will give you a few seconds, maybe. It’s better to gather important documents and photographs and leave immediately! Make sure your fire insurance covers the replacement cost, not just the value of the house. And make sure your insurance company will cover your costs for the entire time it takes to rebuild your house. If there’s a disaster that destroys entire communities, there will be a shortage of qualified construction workers and things will take much longer than usual.

Whenever we had potluck, I was always wondering what some of the other dishes were. I’m a picky eater and I’m Risk Averse. So I made sure to add little signs (on a toothpick) to label our contributions so there wouldn’t be any confusion. This was long before people began to panic about gluten (or lactose, really) intolerance. ;–) Oh, and the cheese sauce for the Mac & Cheese was made in the microwave. ;–)
  17. Did Ghankan eat your cat? Is Ghankan a worthy substitute for a feline? How does it feel to be a demon’s human? ;–) I had very different thoughts when I reread the story… ;–)

When I read that ‘Noel’ was going to a potluck where he didn’t know anyone, I was certain I knew it was going to be the same one! ;–)

My ex-boyfriend and I used to attend gatherings that were sometimes potlucks. For one of them we made Macaroni & Cheese (only we used shells and white cheddar instead of the usual elbows and orange-colored cheddar) and my grandmother’s Finger Jello (Half and Half is mixed in and it separates into layers). My ex had Nasturtiums blooming in his backyard, so I added a couple to the Mac & Cheese for an accent. I wasn’t expecting anyone to eat the flowers even though I knew they were edible, but someone did. For some reason, the Finger Jello wasn’t popular at all, but the Mac & Cheese disappeared! ;–) We had a family friend who would bake Jelly Rolls for us! She was very precise and the Lemon filling was very evenly spread. (She also made very neat & tidy Tamales, each with an unpitted olive in it. Her neighbor had taught her how to make the Tamales.)

I don’t buy them. They don’t have the rich and creamy mouthfeel of premium ice cream or gelato. Unlike like some (eg Mary Tyler Moore or Carol Burnett), I don’t have an unusually wide mouth, so I would never be able to accommodate both halves in my mouth at the same time. It’s not as if I have a Mick Jagger tongue or something either. ;–)
