  1. Your description of Will's grief was quite profound. Very well written! It certainly did provoke an emotional response. For me, it did add to my understanding of the story. After a year, Will seemed very much still there and able to put off the "call" within him. It's also interesting that David, as a victim, cried out for vengence. Did he know he was crying out to Will/Gar? I think not. I am confused on the point surrounding David's parents. The were added to a list? Sounds foreboding.
  2. So everyone in New York carries a baseball bat? :2hands: Here in Canada, it's hockey sticks. Great chapter, Edward!

    Chapter 15

I'm pleased you have given Nelson a good sense of humour. Is there anything in your research that suggested this? So it seems it will be a dull mission, unless of course the French show up. So what happens when you mix navy and army? Did such rivalries exist then? I can just hear Somers now, "You'll be our bitches for the trip back to the Rock!" I'm thinking the Captain of the Blanche might try to do something along the way to look good in front of Nelson and, of course, for Sir John. Can't imagine what though. Great chapter, Mark!!
  4. I must say I'm disappointed that Arthur didn't accept Jayden's invitation to go up to his place. Oh well. I'm enjoying the story very much. Thanks!
  5. Fascinating story, Edward! I'm thinking that at some point Arthur and Jayden will meet in their "real" form - the one where they both have wings. That's going to be a shocker. Anyway, I know you can't reveal any plot events before they happen. A sequel is planned? Great news!
  6. This thread reminds me, painfully I might add, of the several times that the subject of sex in GA stories is discussed. Invariably, these threads are started by members who believe they exist on a higher moral plane and who would prefer that all authors conform to it. They smoke weed but don't inhale. This thread is about snobbery, plain and simple.

    Picture Perfect

The adage is "fight fire with fire". Gulp! Chapter 2 and the stakes are already going through the roof. It's like Logan just went "all in". Will Tori call or fold? The sad part is Eric is the ante in this game. This is one of those stories where I just gotta know what happens.

    Chapter 8

Great chapter, sojourn! I believe the only barrier to Bill and Tar longterm will be Bill's reluctance to be out. Being a cop does make it tougher for him - to survive in that culture. I don't see him getting into interior design. Now, to give Tar credit, he may be able to work with that but eventually the "hiding" would really bum him out. Jed is an a$$hole. Enuf said there. I could see David being willing to be out. The thing is I don't see David making any moves - joining the race so to speak. I'm sure he's cuddly enough. Needless to say, I'm anxious to see what you have up your sleeve.
  9. I have absolutely no clue as to what is going on. Just thought I'd mention that.
  10. I'm hoping you're a Star Trek fan and have raised your shields. :2hands: Ok, so there's one medium sized photon torpedo on its way. It has to do with the reference to Michael Jackson. Frankly, I didn't like it. One, he was never convicted and two, he's dead. Anyway, I'll get over it. I suppose you could have spent 4 or 5 chapters with Coop and Devon talking about where their reationship was, seeing a marriage counsellor, that sort of thing. No doubt I would have become bored with that easily enough. Of course you could have spiced it up with rendezvous with Chase - no doubt I would have stayed for that, all the while resenting him for cheating. In the end, I'm glad Coop did what he did and I'll leave it at that. Besides, this is the story that I want to read. I have no illusions that it will be tension free. Anyways, that must have been a tough chapter to write. So good on ya for that. Oh, by the way, duck!
  11. Throughout the centuries, ignorance has caused considerable human suffering. However, when ignorance is combined with religious fervor, the results have been even more horrific. A very simple example and one that can be easily researched is left-handedness. When I was a kid, you did not want to be left-handed and Catholic. I am of the view that the belief that homosexuality is a concious choice is a belief based in ignorance. The science that is available predominantly points to biologic/genetic causes. Is it definitive? No, it isn't. Are behavioral/environmental factors involved as well? More than likely, but that's just a guess on my part - part of my own ignorance I suppose. The religious right maintains this position of ignorance. It serves their purposes. I need not get into the damage this has caused gay people. Do gay people have a responsibility to inform and educate here? I believe so and we should do so whether there is a religious element involved or not. When you ask the members here at GA for their views, not all of them will be sugarcoated.

    Iron Man

This story is looking real good! As far as humour goes, sarcasm and irreverence top my list! Keep it coming. I love the title of this story.
  13. Fascinating story! Glad to see Brandon and Jordon coming to terms...maybe coming to trust. So have you studied NLP?

    Chapter 7

Ok, there was a little cheese there, but I enjoyed it thoroughly anyway. I really can't say there are three. Jed would need to sort things out with Doc before TR would even give him the time of day. There's also the pissing horse issue. If Jed is even in the race, he's a distant third. My vote is definitely with Bill right now. How does he manage to say all the right things? He's really quite amazing. For a trooper, though, he could be in better shape. Doc is so cool. David, on the other hand, seems to be very uncomfortable in his own skin. If he wants TR, he's going to have to grab his balls and get in the race. :2hands: He did show some honesty (finally) when he spoke with TR. Mind you, he didn't have much coice at that point. Great dialogue! Keep the funny stuff coming.
  15. Hope you're all having a great Independence Day and a super weekend!!

    Prologue

Hey there, Jwolf! Excellent opening chapter! The dialogue is truly superb. You do "married with children" extremely well. So far anyway. It's good to see "toute la gang" back again. So Coop is on the verge of publishing The List. I'm wondering how that will sit with Devon. The agreement is "discreet". Publishing this story goes way beyond discreet. Then there's his children to think about. Anyways, that's plot and I'm quite prepared to wait for the story to unfold. So it looks like Coop's fears around Chase came to pass.
  17. There's no easy answer here. There is certainly no right answer, that's for sure. Obviously you care about this guy and would like to see the relationship work. I believe you've acknowledged, given your friend's view on gays, that your relationship with him has changed. Unless he has a change of heart, that change is irrevocable. I've been through something similar. I experienced it as a loss. It hurt like hell. Frankly, I felt betrayed. But that's me. In the end, we just sort of consentually drifted apart. No drama. I believe we all have "terms" around our relationships. When I say terms, I mean something that is inviolet. Hopefully, these are few. When my terms are not involved, I can compromise. Whenever I have compromised one of my terms, I end up resenting the person, and worse, I resented myself.

    Epilogue

How could you possibly end a story with all that Chinese just sitting there getting cold. Quite the ride, Dark! Thanks for the story.

    Chapter 14

Simply amazing! No battles, no sex and yet still a brilliant chapter. How do you do it? I like it when Granger does a little bellybutton gazing - which I imagine is most difficult when he's on the quarter deck - he needs to do that every now and then. Sorts him out you know. No wonder Jervis looks forward to meeting up with Granger - the repartee is always so delightful. Jervis so enjoys the verbal duel. Of course, he's an Admiral and always wins...even when he loses.
  20. Happy B-Day, NightOwl!!!
  21. Excellent! Good thing I don't go to the chatroom.
  22. Easy: end war, end crime, heal the sick, feed the hungry, comfort the oppressed, introduce the lonely to one another, create a single religion that has only one commandment: Be decent to one another. And that's just the first 5 minutes!

    Chapter 6

And they say lust is a deadly sin. What utter nonsense! I get the feeling that Bill and David may have hooked up in the past. Will certainly make for an intersting meal together. Super chapter!!

    Chapter 5

I'd shoot Julie. I really would. And I'd whistle while I did it. She is a unique character, that's for sure. Can't wait for the cookout!

    Chapter 4

Personnally, I think good cooking skills are highly overrated. Wow! What a temper on TR! I was actually shocked at that. The misunderstanding you created there was quite clever. I will never live in a small town. :2hands:
