    Definitely a unique and creative story. I sense some social commentary here on the futility of war and how we humans continue to make the same mistakes. I remember reading an article on this subject a while ago where one speaker says something like. "Why do we have so many wars" Because we're so good at it!"

    Ok, I'm liking Mike more and more all the time. Hard not to. I never thought he would have sex with Corbin. He certainly seemed committed to exploring that part of himself and, again, he couldn't have been more honest about it with Corbin. The sex scene was definitely horny-making. Corbin's reaction was interesting. One minute he acknowledges what it's all about, the next he slips into wishful thinking. I can't say I blame him for that. At breakfast, he seemed back in touch with reality. He's right too; he needs to find a man in the same place he is. Easier said than done sometimes. Superb chapter!!

    A tragic time in Irish history. It went on for so long. I think you've struck the right amount of intensity here. It's quite the challenge you have set for yourself. I'm looking forward to more as well.

    Pete and Mike are a fascinating contrast. Mike offers what he can, given his situation, and appears to be up front with Corbin on that. Corbin has at least a basic understanding of where Mike's at in terms of their relationship. Pete, on the other hand, remains non-commital, for whatever reason. Pete's on the dance floor, but he's not dansing. Yeah, I like Mike as well. I'm wondering if at some point you'll let us know what "direction" he eventually took, if you know that is. It's a curiousity more than anything. I really enjoyed this chapter! Definitely looking forward to the next.

    A New author is one who first posted a story here at GA in 2012. The category, Best GA Stories by a New Author, is only open to stories written by a new author. It is possible to nominate a story posted by a New author for both categories you mention in your post. All stories posted in 2012 (in all or in part) by authors who are not Hosted or Promising are eligibe for nomination under Best GA Stories.

    Best Hosted Story must have beem authored by a Hosted Author. Best Promising Story must have been authored by a Promising Author. Best GA Stories is for stories authored by all other authors here at GA - stories by Hosted or Promising Authors are not eligible for this category.

    Would I ever like to spend a few minutes inside Pete's head and find out what's going on with him. Of course, that would take away from all the work you've put into totally frustrating me for 12 chapters. I remember thinking to myself, several chapters ago, that this relationship between Corbs and Pete, whichever way it goes, was going to take a while. I believed I was up for it. <sighs> Don't get me wrong. I'm not going anywhere. The story and the writing are just too good. Maybe I should just pour myself something tropical.
