Well, this is a ticklish dilemma, easy to see why the Prince wanted Thorvil to come on the run. Jamie will find it hard to keep up this identity. He is just too honest and has already been tripped up once; but he is quick of wit and had an answer, but will everyone believe him?
-
While Jamie has power obviously, have to wonder if Garvin does as well. Or could he perhaps magnify the power that Jamie has within. Not sure that Jamie understands the bargain he has made this day; let us hope that he does not regret it at a latter time.

A truly delicious start to the story. A friend recommended this and I can tell that I am glad already. Well written and the pacing was spot on. Not sure that this should have been undertaken without some communication with Master Thorvil, but what is done is done.

Well Well Well; so Sam enjoys the pain of the bite and perhaps even the danger of knowing what he is doing to some extent. Opens up so many possibilities. This is the first time that Julius really seemed to show his age. He took care not to take to much and cost Sam his life; he did not want him in true pain over this encounter. He also did not just engage in sex, he wanted Sam to be aware and make the decision. Maybe after 2000 years Julius is growing up.

Kavan is not going to be forgiving of Gideon. Kavan has been hurt by Gideon and Konstantin on a fundamental level that will make it harder for his anger and his disappointment to dissipate. Being separated from his bothers again, has also increased his feelings of betrayal. I don't agree with @JohnnyC; there are not emotions just one, rage. The Conte has helped Kavan enjoy this time in Venice by giving him two extraordinary guides. Ilaria is adventuresome and does all the risky physical things that appeal to Kavan; and Mauro is a font of knowledge and handles the cultural side. I am sure they are also gathering knowledge of Kavan, but that is to be expected. Both Konstantin and Gideon made mistakes with how they handled Kavan; now they will have to figure out how to deal with the consequences.

Ah, so Julius was a slave to someone in Imperial Rome; I really do want some of the backstory here. Sam wants to feel that he fits in and belongs so badly; that he is willing to give up some of his blood to do so. Like Julius, I find it interesting that he hasn't taken the collar off. Well, we know that Ludwig and Caden are both still alive; but how is Caden adjusting to this changed life? Excellent chapter, can't wait for the next update. And for what it is worth, I think that there could be several more books in this saga.
-
Well, so Julius decides that he will help Ludwig; and before he even knows with what. Julius confesses but the confession doesn't seem to surprise Ludwig, makes you wonder if Ludwig didn't sense something, after all he was breaking up with Julius when he was killed. How did Ludwig survive oh so long ago without help? I realize that back then more people just disappeared and no one knew what happened but still. How is Caden taking this transformation? Is he happy or sad or???
-
You would think that after two thousand years that Julius would have grown up at least a little; but doesn't appear that he has. Just basic understanding of humans would help; what was he when he was turned, a member of the Imperial Roman ruling class? Hate that Caden is having issues; but what can you expect. Ludwig did not even appear to know that he could turn a human, so he has no idea of what to do. This really is all the fault of Julius. He did not prepare Ludwig at all and now everyone is paying the price.
-
Sam proves to be braver than even he realized he could be. He actually told Julius what he may have needed to hear for a millennium. Of course, Sam realized both during and after his outburst just how bad this could have gone. Julius is really hurt; did he truly believe that all he had to do was show up and he and Ludwig could live happily ever after? I mean, Julius killed Ludwig all those years ago and then did not even stick around to see if he came back as a vampire? Did he know all these years that Ludwig was out there somewhere? If so, why wait this long to start looking for him?
-
We can hope that Ludwig's blood is enough and Caden is one of those lucky humans that can synthesis the blood into his body and come back. Ludwig will truly be lost without Caden, and I think he will try and kill Julius. If Ludwig succeeds and turns Caden, how will he react to it? I doubt they ever talked about it since I don't think that Ludwig understood it was possible until Julius said it. Whose body was on the beach? Could Julius have collapsed out of remorse, okay anything is possible. Could he have killed someone? Sam is in for it no matter what... Excellent chapter.
-
Oh Hell to the NO. Time for Ludwig to man up, so to speak, and kick Julius out. I realize that Ludwig had no idea how he turned; but he needs to find some righteous anger and fight back now... Caden better be okay, have he and Ludwig talked of Caden getting turned; or does Ludwig even realize that he can do this???
-
What a great mix, love it...

OMG, I never even considered that Ludwig would not realize that the man he slept with was another vampire. Did he really think that Julius was just some hot piece of ass? Oy to the Vey... This is going to be good.

A Pair of Nightmares
centexhairysub commented on Grumpy Bear's story chapter in A Pair of Nightmares
Not sure who is dumber; the Emperor or the idiot he is married to. The only thing the Lions are going to do is learn that fear is what has motivated them and that fear will destroy them in the end. Axel just can't help finding someone to screw, even in the middle of a mission. Still not sure what is under the sands of the Sahara; but that is going to prove to be the real enemy. Not sure this flight to Marrakesh was well though out. LOL. Axel may be a hell of a warrior but not sure he should be the one trying to plan everything. -
Not sure that Ludwig and Julius remember the events the same way. Nothing in Ludwig's story indicated anything more than one encounter, and that one did not seem to go well. Julius is in for a big surprise...

Sorry, know plenty of those that fought in Vietnam. Some back what your friends claim; but know plenty that agree with me. That fighting the communist was an excuse, maybe not totally invalid, but had little to do with why we were there in reality.
-
I totally disagree. While I will admit that in the distant past that others countries were perhaps better at giving their actions a more positive slant; since perhaps a few years after WWII, no one does it more or better than the United States. I do think that Germany and surprisingly Spain in the last fifty years or so have done a much better job of revising and publishing their history showing warts and all. The British still have a few blind spots; but nothing compared to the United States. Since the late 1940's we have done everything we can as a nation to systematically burnish our reputation and hide, obfuscate, and and bury anything or anyone that attempted to make us look like anything other than the hero. We consistently refuse to even teach real history, civics, or government to students in this country. Wouldn't want to have to explain to little Susie why grandma was spitting on a little black girl for trying to go to school, or why grandpa was using napalm to wipe out whole villages in Vietnam to protect large landowners and the status quo in a country we didn't even really care about.

Well, did not take long for Sam to have a total overload and collapse. Good think that Caden was nearby and hopefully he can help him. I can imagine the expression on Sam's face when he realized that Caden knew that Julius is a vampire. Seems like this whole group needs to have a sit down. Would not think that Julius has had many refusals over the last two thousand years; not sure how he will handle any of what I suspect is coming. Keep these chapters rolling...

Just the little that Will and Marie were around each other was a delight. They have such an interesting relationship. This group seems like a lot of fun to be around. Great how the band mates got all insular and talking about music and how the songs they were listening to could be adapted to help them show some versatility. Great that Will was thinking about Travis and go the main bedroom on the plane so that he could decompress and get some time for himself. Will really is thoughtful, more so than his parents or contemporaries, he is more of a throwback to JP and Isidore and their generation. So glad that Kiki is moving on with her life. She had so much to deal with and needs some happiness in her life. If she is working up to telling Kai about her new guy; then it must be serious. Will just couldn't wait to show Travis is playroom. Will and Travis need some time to themselves this trip. They need to see where they are heading. Excellent update, keep them coming.

Jealous much... Julius and Ludwig are going to have to have a long talk. How much of a time jump has there been?

Well, we can assume that Julius has somehow found out about Ludwig being alive. From a statement earlier, I think that he thought he was dead. But how did he find out? Can't see Ludwig doing promo shots on a beach with Caden, LOL. Sam's reaction to the collar and Julius's assumption that he would just put it on was priceless. I think that since he has made the deal that Julius will keep it, maybe not the one hundred million, but the original twenty million should suffice. Julius seems amused with Sam's bravado; also there is something about Sam that effects Julius in some way; otherwise he would not care that Sam kept getting so upset. Hope this will be a semi long voyage so that Julius and Sam can find their footing; but can't wait to see Ludwig's reaction to Julius's arrival. Excellent chapter.

No one there realized the impact this child was going to have on everyone around them. The three of them at that moment just knew what pure unadulterated love was. A parents love of a child should be absolute. Brad, Robbie, and Jeanine loved Will for the rest of their lives. They may have wanted to kill him on occasion but the love was always there. And so it goes...

Well, let's hope that Julius doesn't drain Sam recovering from this ploy. Sam actually surprised me; had enough of a backbone to come up with a plan, such as it is, and then actually try and execute it. A yacht, well, I guess a two thousand year old vampire would have plenty of time to acquire plenty of capitol. Nice update...

Kintu is a bigger fool than I ever considered him to be. And his idea of racial superiority is straight out of idiocy. I don't like any of the lions, the fact that they allowed this idiot to live and lead them doesn't speak well for any of them. Loved the LOTR references. Let's just throw down now, we are wasting time.
