Well-crafted tale of Ser Graeme and Sam, his would be squire. This is very much character driven, at least it is for me, as I came to quickly care about both in the first installment. And I do think you need to read it first to have a sense of some of the actions in this one. We see them starting out on the road until an unexpected rescue brings them a job, that Sam might just be perfect for. There are of course complications along the way, as Sam is still suffering his loss from the first book. Read the first book in this saga, and then join us as we continue them in this one.

A wonderful conclusion to this book, look forward to reading more in this saga. Graeme and Sam are finding out just how much they do mean to each other, in ways that I don't think either of them ever suspected.

Lovely chapter, I can't get enough of the way these two are bonding. And I appreciate the fact that even though they are very early in, they can talk to each other, something some never manage properly. So many delicious side and secondary characters, and all so well fleshed out. Can't wait to see what happens next.

What a special day, I know that Dante wishes that Dimmi had said Papa to him first, but I think it was meant to be Frank. Alice hurt Dante in a way that will take more than just time to heal, but I am hoping for the best. The ceremony seemed really nice. Since Dimmi is the son of two free men, is he considered free?

Wonderful chapter, and I can't wait to see what happens next. I am glad that Kieran and Charlie are socializing more as a couple with their people, so to speak. I do worry some about Kevin and Jack, bridging cultural divides are never easy, and sometimes prove to be impossible. But let's hope for the best. Cannot wait to see the show and what Patrick and his group come up with. In the words of that great spiritual from the 60's, the times are a changing.

Johnny is learning that it is those quiet moments, those small moments that can actually matter the most. They help show you and perhaps those around you, who you really are, what you are made of. Slice of Napoli sounds like my kinda place.

I mirror most of the questions that @drsawzall asked. But I am glad that Dante and Frank came together, I do hate that there seems to be a distance between Alice and Dante, however. That said, perhaps time will heal that wound, or at least lessen it. I never cared much for Matthew, and this did nothing to improve my opinion of him. Hate that Sam has issues, but again, perhaps time and medicine can help. Glad that Carolyn is still with us all. Equally glad that Britney seems to have flown the coop. What about Sarah? -
Confessions and Confidences

I really like that Alex and Neil are opening up about their past and getting to know what got them to the point they are at now. It is the small choices and twist of fate that leads you to your current life. Rarely is a grand plan all it was meant to be. I can imagine that it would be hard with everything spending 20 something years viewing their life choices one way; and then something happens and all of the sudden, another path opens up. Can't wait to see what happens next. -
Sounds like Will's first movie with a good role is going to turn out really great. He just needs to keep his head down and continue to learn and absorb what he can from those around him. Austin is getting way to clingy, I am honestly surprised Will was as nice about it as he was. Will and Travis really clicked in this chapter, but I can't wait for Will to get to Australia and spend some time there. Of course, Travis will be in in LA working on the movie, but they will still talk, just have to handle the time change properly. Can't wait to see how this movie shoot goes for Travis, hope he is able to stay on an even keel during it. It isn't so much the movie that worries me, but more Palisades because of how he is basically the character he is playing on it.

They got the information to Duncan, let's hope he is able to act to wrap up the woman and at least some of her partners and product. Sam is a little too free with information, he has no idea if the guard he spoke to was in the employee of those they were seeking to stop. I am sure the woman had at least attempted to recruit a few of the watch and the guards, history would say she was at least partially successful. Graeme still refuses to believe what Sam said under the influence of the ash was the truth, but it was...

I can see so many ways that this could go wrong; but damn, it could go right and be so hot it is more scalding than the ginger in the oil. Xavier apologized to Aaron, and Aaron made sure he understood and they were good. Xavier apologized for a few past mistakes, and Aaron made sure he knew that he already knew them all. Sade helped Austin get his things from his cabin and take them to Xavier's. Austin wants Xavier on some level that I don't think he even understands yet. Can't wait to see how this will play out.

So, Frank surprised John more than Danica; or at least, in a totally different way. John, I think, had hoped that Dante had children and was able to keep them with him, something John had been unable to do. I think that Frank will make sure that Dante realizes that John was more caught off guard but Frank than truly disapproving or disappointed. Danica realized quickly, just what a big role that Frank plays in Dante's life. I do hope that Dante makes a move to know and connect with Dotty, I think more than even John maybe, she needs Dante in her life on some level that maybe she doesn't even realize yet. John realized how much the gift meant to Dante, let's hope that it is a bridge between them. Loved this.

Does Palomar even know what or whom he wants? Is he confused, or just worried about getting involved with Granger. He seems to draw him in one minute and then push him back the next. I am getting whiplash. Granger is definitely saddled a few officers and midshipman that he will either find a way to correct their deficiencies, or find a way to get them off the ship; but can he do that without them sabotaging him first? Hope the day was all you could have hoped for... Happy Birthday @Mark Arbour

I think sometimes it is hardest when you are still caught up in one world, even as you long to be in another. You feel the pull holding you where you are, but knowing it isn't what is meant to be. Moving forward, actually making that decision can be the hardest thing to do. But once you do, freedom.

The US handled the COVID situation horrible. It sounds as if perhaps Australia did a better job of it. Glad to see Kieran got his business up and running a little bit during this time, let's hope it carries over as the restrictions ease. Had worried about Charlie, those in service positions like his had such a high risk of infection because they dealt with so many more people. Thank god, no rabbit died, and Ruth had just moved on, but then so has Kevin. Toby is in love, ah, the joy of young love. And Patrick is here, can't wait to see how he can sprinkle some sparkle around.

Graeme was able to work himself free, and in a way, so did Sam, the ash, allowed him to speak the truth. I wonder if their description of the woman will be enough for someone to know her, of course, tying her to that particular factory, might be enough but we will see. Can Sam resist the pull of the ash?

So, Frank was a surprise to the Sapphires, but not to me. While I adore Frank, no food can be too spicy, he would just have to learn to deal with it. This visit went better than I would have ever expected. And I could honestly see a few more in the future. We need some filler in the next chapter, not sure about the phone call or text, but felt that I was totally lost for a moment. Just wonderful. -

A lovely chapter, Neil finally makes a move, and it turns out they both enjoyed it. Where will it go, who knows at this point. Has Neil truly never been attracted to a man before? I guess it happens, but seems to me that late 20's is a little late for a true first attraction. Can't wait to see what happens next with these two.

Forget your 40's, wait till your 60's, you don't have to worry about an alarm, because you never sleep and if you do set a reminder, you can't remember what the reminder was for. LOL As always, thanks for the look back at the week.

Well, I do wish that Kevin had talked to Ruth, really afraid the rabbit died. I am so impressed with how Kieran and Charlie both handled the situation with Toby. Being sixteen is hard enough without being different at all. Kids and well, really the whole world can be so vicious towards anyone that they perceive as different. Seems to me, from what I can remember, Australia was not hit as hard as some by Covid. Let's hope that everyone in our groups stay safe and end up being okay.
