  1. You mean old like JP and Stef? I doubt that Travers' dad is as old as JP.
  2. While Granger is collecting intelligence on the French fleet, escaping Egypt on an American merchant ship captained by his dead first love's father, I wonder what the British fleet is doing? Perchance George doesn't miss the action after all and is the last one to return to jolly old England after all?

    Chapter 53

Well WOW! Great chapter with a really interesting and surprising ending. Granger's world is full of coincidences which make the story all the more exciting. Great job as usual! Can't wait for the next chapter and I just hope it isn't one that breaks away to one of George's ships enroute to England.....(instead of continuing on with the meeting with Travers Sr.).
  4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY !
  5. The Office of National Statistics in the UK provides the following for 2011: Key Findings In 2011, the provisional number of marriages in England and Wales increased by 1.7% to 247,890, from 243,808 in 2010. In 2011, the male marriage rate remained at 22.0 marriages per thousand unmarried men aged 16 and over. For women the rate decreased to 19.8 per thousand unmarried women aged 16 and over, from 20.0 in 2010. Civil ceremonies accounted for 70% of all marriages that took place in 2011, an increase from 64% in 2001. The greatest number of marriages were for men and women aged 25 to 29. The largest percentage increase in the number of marriages between 2010 to 2011 was for women aged 55 to 59 and for men aged 60 and over, rising by 6.9% and 6.5% respectively. Get all the tables for this publication in the data section of this publication . Unlike the US, 70 percent of weddings in England and Wales are NOT religious ceremonies. The Roman Catholic Church will also ban such marriages in their churches without question. However, Zombie's opinions above that for centuries Christianity had no interest in marriage is in my opinion, hyperbole. Also per the BBC article, a majority of the Conservative MP's voted against the proposal.

    Chapter 51

Poor George and Winkler on a smelly camel in the desert heat wearing face paint and heavy clothes and a veil. The idealized pic of the desert sheik was very alluring. Too bad it's hot and miserable. The maps were appreciated. Not the kind of journey that I would want to take. I'd feel a little unsafe too with the unruly band that is accompanying them, Thank heavens for Jardine and Jacobs following. As usual a very good chapter and I anxiously await more, please!.
  7. I hope to read about Stef actually celebrating a 68th birthday. Remember 70 is the new 50......(says a guy who will be 66 in a couple of months.)
  8. RIP Cory aka Finn!
  9. Happy Birthday!

    Chapter 21

That Kai remains evasive about his early evenings is tantalizing Will. He will pursue it and I expect Mark will reveal it when we least expect it. Stef gets to decorate, finish and furnish a whole house. Brad gets to surf with Will and Kai which sounds idyllic. And 9/11 is still almost two months away. More please!
  11. ESPN mentions a current quad strain, the broken ankle was how he missed 91 games up until this week.

    Chapter 50

I find that Miles Long summed up my reaction to the chapter as well as I could. I also expectantly await more!

    Chapter 20

Will's opinion of Kai is a bit naive and Brad's and Stef's opinion appears too cynical. Perhaps a bit more research is in order and I suspect Will doing just that, personally. I read through the chapter much too fast and of course I shall have to re-read it. Thanks again for the story!
  14. After the year he had last year coming so close in the Championships, then winning the Gold in the Olympics then winning the Championships this year has to have tennis buffs in the UK delirious with joy. Congrats to a determined, gritty, keep on trying guy!
  15. With your Birthday being buried on the calendar page, I thought it wasn't fair to miss out on congratulating you on your last birthday before the big 4-0! Happy Birthday!
  16. Granger is a gentleman and as noted previously he had put his grief and remorse into perspective some time before and was able to think of Travers with a smile. So I think it is probable that he in the end forgives Jardines. But like many. he will not forget! I don't think it is in Granger's power to get Jardines back to England. But assuredly it is in the power of Mr. Arbour but would that accomplish anything to further the plot?

    Chapter 26

Thanks for the story and the wonderful way you managed to give us a happy ending after what seemed a certain catastrophe!

    Chapter 49

A storm with a storm of emotions brilliantly portrayed. I suspect Granger will take some time to digest it all but that his ruling out the duel means he will not harm Jardines in any way if he can help it.
  19. The latest chapter is a primer on what's going on in the mind of Will and how he is processing his experiences. It provides insight into how Will is maturing and relating his experiences. The bit with the shrink turning the recent situation with Tony back to the earlier confrontation where his nose got bopped was a minor ah-ha moment despite Will's seeming to blow it off.

    Chapter 19

A lot of processing for Will and also for Robbie. Good job laying it all out. And without it becoming stilted or pure psychobabble. Robbie and Will seem to be in a better place and back to looking out for each other. Thanks for the 4th of July present! As usual!
  21. MP3's and 4's are digital too and last I heard i-Tunes and Amazon and others were doing just fine.....
  22. The Pirates are leading the National League Central Division and the Cards lost 2 of 3 to the Oakland A's. Bummer!
  23. Of particular interest in moving the adoption of CD's forward was the Sony Discman. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discman
  24. Ah, but does it go into great detail describing the garb which is to hide Granger's identity? One can only hope and that it might also lead to some hilarity. Poor George!
  25. I chose Calvert to get back first and Granger to get back last. It just seems that George's luck has been perverse of late and I expect that to continue. Calvert's ship was the last to make it to Amboyna and in the twists of fate I suspect he will arrive back to jolly old England first. Of course my predictions are entirely a guess and I suspect that Mark has this all worked out already in his own inimitable style.
