We Are Not Party People!
Daddydavek commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in We Are Not Party People!
What are the odds that baby Jay gets awoken by the party? -
Well Steve, I see you really can do the weekly update in your sleep....

Just caught up with this and now I want some more!

What’s with Reilly Chesley?
Daddydavek commented on DomLuka's story chapter in What’s with Reilly Chesley?
I don't know what it is between Dennis and Reilly but it is definitely something. As far as Owen and Aiden I think it is still a work in progress and I think it was interesting that Owen told Aiden no. -
Owen and Aiden could use a break and a weekend away sounds perfect. Why do I think it may also be surprising?

classic author excerpt January Classic Author Excerpt: The Long Way by DomLuka
Daddydavek commented on Cia's blog entry in Gay Authors News
I'm re-reading it and am through chapter 16 and well into chapter 17. As I've confessed in some of my chapter comments, the story is only vaguely familiar and I've forgotten where it goes and how it gets there. It has been almost a decade since I read it and clearly too many stories have been read in the intervening years for me to have kept this one in my memory banks which are filled to overflowing. After all, I've been a voracious reader for more than sixty years.....I was going to say sixty-five but the books I read before age 12 probably were not all that memorable anyhow.... As a recent reader of the story I too can heartily recommend it. -
I think Owen is beginning to realize it is all coming out anyway, and denying it is a losing proposition, so he might as well take the advice of someone who has been there and done that. Leo is no dummy!
-
So Adam came to talk and unexpectedly learns that Aiden spent the night and Adam connects the dots....
-
Sounds good!
-
I think perhaps Aiden is a bit too positive and Owen is a bit too pessimistic about the likely scenario as it plays out with Janie. I doubt it will be alright and I hope it's not the end of the world, but Dom does throw some wicked curve balls at his characters and thus his readers....
-
Aiden's story is just so sad and heartbreaking. To lose your twin and father like that, the survival guilt and the fact that his mom started drinking, it's a wonder he survived. Owen needs to come clean about Dan and Nick.
-
Owen acknowledges his remorse over the loss of Dan and that while special, he was not in love with him. He also acknowledges he loved Nick, but he fails to understand that the loss of that relationship is perhaps the main cause of his own self-doubts. In short he hasn't really moved on, despite hearing nothing from his former friend and his making of new friends. Anna is another cipher for him, despite her ending up being so toxic for him.
-
Owen still has his insecurities and Aiden is seemingly blind to Janie's manipulation.
-
It's about time! Great plan by Aiden!
-
The surprise birthday party at the Shade comes first on Saturday then the dance....and Owen now has a better sense of what is going on and he handled the situation perfectly. Maybe his social awareness is maturing??
-
I'm beginning to think that as occupants of the same building with only 4 units, that the fact Owen hasn't met or gotten to know Aiden's mom means that most of the time she is in no condition to meet someone. Aiden shouldn't have to parent an addicted parent but I suspect that is the case and that she is a nasty drunk to boot.
-
Owen's cluelessness and Aiden's unwillingness to clue him in as to his family situation provides some tension but I think the time has come for them to face reality...if not in the next chapter, at least in the one after that! That's my wish and I'm sticking to it!
-
My only comment is that Owen isn't the most socially aware and lacks even a small bit of gaydar!
-
Still not remembering this like I should. Humphhh! Got a kick out of the following: " No girls aloud." I wonder if Dom was having a moment and whether he really meant "no loud girls" when he transposed aloud for allowed???
-
Ok, I'm starting to get aggravated with myself, as I really don't remember much about this story and it's good so I should!
-
OK, three chapters in and I'm still clueless at remembering this story. From what I've read so far this time, I expect Owen and Aiden will get to know each other better and open up about their pasts. We know Owen's story but somehow I think Aiden's might be worse.....
-
OK, so now I'm re-reading this because the story is getting really interesting and I want to find out how this goes...and yes I still have no real clue as I've forgotten or got this story mixed up with several other ones. The curse of reading voraciously for years.
-
I'm re-reading this story because of Cia's prompt. So it's all her fault that I've got to keep reading because it's been like almost a decade ago since I last read it and the details and plot are still a bit fuzzy....Of course the fact that Dom writes a compelling story is a reason to re-read it again too!
-
Having established they are indeed boyfriends and want to make going all the way special, I think the story could be reaching a climax very shortly...say in the next week?

Chapter 2 Only Poor People Are Crazy
Daddydavek commented on Dodger's story chapter in Chapter 2 Only Poor People Are Crazy
I actually think Tristian is somewhat entitled in his acceptance of concealing his orientation. Having said that I think it's everyone's prerogative as to whether to publicly acknowledge their orientation, however when you are in a relationship, the other partner must be on the same page which I doubt Tristian even considered.... I too think the timeframe is in the early to mid-eighties.
