Jason first meets Konstantin, a first generation immigrant from Ukraine, in 2006. Konstantin is deeply in the closet and holds some deep-seeded internal homophobia. Despite their differences, Konstantin is drawn to the very out and proud Jason.

Their story is told through journal entries, a first person account filtered through Jason’s many addictions. It’s raw, uncensored, and painfully honest as Jason chronicles their story in an attempt to understand himself and his addictions.

Sometimes to move forward one has to relive the past. These entries have not been altered or edited in any way.

Sitting in an interrogation room, Manny is unsure as to why the Department of Homeland Security wants to talk to him. At least, not until a flash drive is set on the table. His time in Castine, Maine was about to be used against him.

Emotions, memories, and ideas battle for control. Reflection helps me process and purge, changing who I am and how I understand my place in the world. Seventeen year old Dakota (Dak) Ross was having a little difficulty with the goings on in his life. He’d recently come out as gay to his mother. He hadn’t seen his dad since he was three, or so he had been told by his Uncle Spence. He couldn’t hide his relationship with Jamie Paxler any longer now that they were having sex. Well, just oral sex so far, but he couldn’t hide the goofy grin he wore almost all of the time. Definitely all of the time he and Jamie were together.

Sharing that little piece of news with his mother didn’t go over very well at all.

This journal is supposed to help me get through life. Write what happened for the day, then reflect upon the words. Since I started my sophomore year in high school, it's become a daily activity. These entries certainly helped me through some bad times.

Let's hope college won't be as brutal. I guess I should put this away. Got a long drive ahead of me. It's move-in day! I'm praying my roommate won't be an asshole and make fun of my art.

It's not often I get inebriated. When I do, I often forget about writing. Hopefully, this collection will force me to remember. What will my drunk self talk about? Who knows...

All entries are written by me while intoxicated, then edited when I sober up.

Poems for National Poetry Writing Month - April 2023

I went to a therapist once. She told me to write down my feelings, wants, and desires, but I never returned to give her my findings because my college only provided one free session. I also never wrote them down.

Better time than any, I suppose.
