Cozy Contemplations - 18. Chapter 18 Ode to Sarcasm... and Faith

It's all about the laughter. :)

Cozy Contemplations

Chapter 18 Ode to Sarcasm and Faith

Sarcasm is our friend

Using sharp words to rend

And tear flesh from the bone

While using that biting tone

Humor can help get us through

Emotions colored red and blue

A last defense against pain

When life makes it hard to stay sane

The irony may be lost on those few

But mostly they share in it too

Good wit is not meant to be cruel

Nor should it brand someone a fool

It is sophisticated and freeing

To point out what someone’s not seeing

A way to make light of life

Laughter on the blade of a knife

Some of us wrap ourselves in it

A defensive cloak from our kit

A way to push back our sadness

And reduce the effects of the madness

An art form most of us use

Often a way to defuse

When mirth is what’s most required

To keep us from getting mired

So let’s keep on being clever

And if you think me crazy…. Whatever

Faith

Blessings come when they come

Could be simply little battles won

Or a gesture we can deem as kind

Giving us needed peace of mind

There is no reason, there is no rhyme

But keep the faith they will come with time

Thanks for reading. Comments are welcome.

love them! i once took a class that explored Spiritual Gifts. you take a test (200+) question, and if you get 13-15 in a section, then you possess that gift (one of 26). when i got my results i had 4, and i looked at the instructor and said "can i give one back?" i mean the 1st one was a good one, a perfect 15-faith. the next two, not quite as good both 13, discernment of spirits and prophecy, but my 2nd question to the instructor was "what the heck do i do with the gift of exorcism(14)?"

I have to wonder, does sarcasm turn to cynicism with age and experience?  I was often accused of revelling in sarcasm when I was a teen and collegian, but I don't know anymore; have I lost my edge, my mind, or am I simply demoralized?

I had to laugh (at the appropriate points of course) in your ode, and the one on Fatih wrapped my mirth in a warm cocoon of contentment and tranquility.  I needed both of these today, after seeing the folly of the world in the past weeks.

I love them both,  I like sarcasm when it is not going to hurt people. Yours was excellent!
My favorite was the one about Faith, I really really like that one. You can have faith in someone and let him/her know, can lift them up instead of
tearing them down. Or have faith in a higher Being, to whom you turn in good and bad times.

In this world around us, sometimes seeming out of control, laughter and faith are absolutely necessary. Thanks, buddy

You are so right about sarcasm.  I get a lot of entertainment exchanging comments playfully with those I trust to respond in kind.  Faith is a refreshing and realistic way of looking at the blessings of our lives.

I can wear sarcasm like a protective cloak, but I am never mean. I love to laugh, and when I click with someone, the exchanges can be exhilarating.

Faith has rescued me many times in my life. That deep seated certainty that good will come if I just wait. Thanks, Terry.
