Lyrical Laments - 23. Chapter 23 **** Politics
Warning: Political themes in this social commentary, so read no further if that makes you uncomfortable. I am not political... just a concerned citizen of this world, one who has no political affiliations, but I can see through the BS.
***
Fuck Politics
The world burns orange
And chaos rules the dark
Boiling rage spilling over
As the acrid smoke
Of burning shoes and upholstery
Colors darkly, broken hearts
Used as footballs
For partisan battles
At daybreak
Laying blame left and right
Dueling narratives
That miss the point
A few bad apples?
Really?
Which of you watches the world burn
With glee?
I see you... oh yes, I see you
Will humanity prevail?
Will haters be beaten?
And can the yoke be lifted willingly?
Or has the Great Experiment failed?
I feel shame and sadness
For the waste of life and lives
And the reluctance to learn
And the reluctance to do what’s right
From leaders who don’t lead
Haiku: Caught
Cameras don’t lie
Yet still the truth is massaged
As haters rally
Haiku: Patterns
Wait for smoke to clear
And protect the old boys’ club
Till hope dies again
Haiku: Lynching
A foot on the neck
Is the perfect metaphor
For staunch injustice
