Treasures Found - 1. Chapter 1 The Scenic Route

The act of love is a beautiful journey of discovery...

The Scenic Route

Whether by finger tips

Or tongue

Investigating skin

Through touch and taste

With nostrils flared as they feed

I devour you

Traversing the scenic route

And marveling at how you make me feel

So alive

Emotionally

As much as physically

Whenever our hearts

And bodies

Collide

This must be what God intended

When he made you for me

And me for you

This sublime peace

Mixed with desire

To know more

Feel more

Give more

Share more

Worship

And adore

Each glorious inch

Of perfection

Which responds

With sensual undulations

And sounds

Of lustful appreciation

Tickling my senses

And arousing my need

As I take all you offer

And claim what is mine

Haiku

No words of wisdom

Can ease the pain of lost love

Until we let go

Haiku

Writing gives and takes

Leaving us empty or full

Until the next time

Haiku

Red wine on my tongue

Sweetens such bitter sadness

Temporarily

Haiku

Sunshine is a gift

On days the gloom permeates

My every thought

Haiku

Fireflies flicker

Within a brain sick of snow

And I am ready

Haiku

I look at my hands

And see my dear grandmother

Rubbing her age spots

Haiku

Nature holds its breath

Letting harshness crescendo

Teaching us patience

Haiku

The last time for us

While bittersweet to recall

Inhabits my dreams

Haiku

Solitude feeds thoughts

Which turn to cravings for you

But I am alone

Haiku

Love often brings pain

The ache of which can’t compare

To that first wallop of joy

Haiku

Peace can clash with love

In a never ending war

Forcing us to choose

WOW, The Scenic Route was just brilliant.  So descriptive and hot and sweet and so much more, just truly wonderful.

I lived all the Haikus but the first was was so true...

Thanks, centex! I appreciate you taking the time to share such encouraging thoughts. The scenic route is always the best route to take. :)  Just so you know, there are two more collections to publish over the next two days, so please return if you can. Cheers! Gary.

The Scenic Route is bewitching and beautiful.  Your observations in Haiku form were like single bell-like notes sounded by a wind chime. I was especially taken by the connection drawn between your hands and your grandmother's.

Thank you, Parker. Bewitching is good. The Haiku form is one of my favorites so I appreciate that you saw them they way you did. Two more chapters are yet to post... Cheers!

The scenic route is an often used expression among my friends and family used sometimes in awe, jest, or even describing fun. You added yet another factor and/or element with your sensitive, playful, and sweet poem. Thank you, Gary.

Your haikus made me pause and reflect. The second resonates with me, the fifth speaks of so much more than the few words indicate. It's perfect.

The seventh and eighth made my heart stumble.

Thank you for these, Gary.

Yeah, the scenic route can mean many things to each of us. This poem was inspired by a private moment's jest recalled. So happy to hear you found it playful and sweet. I'm not surprised the second Haiku resonated with you.  Thanks for reading, and for your kind words, Adi. Apparently I did something wrong in the posting, so chapter two was posted just now, and chapter three will publish tomorrow if I don't screw it up. :)  Cheers!

Very well done, @Headstall.  Had most of the poetry I have read over the years was of this quality, I would love poetry.  As it is, the quality of poems on GA have been much above what I was used to.

I really enjoyed these, Gary.

Thank you so much, Paul! Yes, there are truly talented poets on GA, and I am pleased beyond measure you consider me one of those. I love poetry... though I do agree there is a lot of poetry that, personally, I don't connect with... so your reading and leaving me such positive thoughts of mine gives credence to my sometimes tortured efforts. You are very kind.

The Scenic Route was beautiful and lovingly written, and very erotic at times.  Well done, Gary.

And the haikus were like little snapshots of life.  I truly enjoyed them.

Thank you, Bill, for reading and sharing your thoughts with me. So glad you enjoyed the Haiku. I love writing them... they require conciseness of expression, and that is a challenge for me. :P

The Scenic Route is one I believe many can understand and relate to. Cheers! Gary.
