Okay, I'm human, I admit it

We all like to think we are superhuman. Nothing bad can happen to me. When things go wrong I can handle it.

Okay, I'm old, I definitely know better but doesn't mean I don't delude myself on occasion.

I can't pick up the pieces as they are shattered. I can't help everyone. I can't do it all. I'm human. I bend and if I am not careful I will break.

Today showed me I am not as young as I use to be. Moved wrong and I pulled something in my back. I've found a few new words I didn't know as I tried to edge myself into a seat. My back has been having little spasms ever since. Who knew even sitting down could hurt?

Anyway just going to try to finish up a little bit and then go to bed. Have a good one all.

Hope your back gets better and stretching is supposed to help prevent back pain from what I heard.

As someone who has serious problems with their back and is on some pretty serious drugs for it, I have found that the best cure of all is a hot water bottle. It can take the place of at least a couple of doses of meds.

Also, if you lie on your back in bed, put a pillow under your knees so you relieve the pressure on the bottom of your back.

Alcohol's good too, seriously, a glass of wine or two relaxes muscles and helps relieve the spasms

Wayne don't overdue it for a while and take it a little easy. The heating pad or hot water bottle really does help and can be used off and on to help ease the overstressed muscles. I have been there and done that and yes it is hell to get older and not be able to do everything just as fast as when you were forty!

You sound like my dad when he tries to move the couch by himself.

If you can get yourself to a hot tub, it helps quite a bit I heard.

Nephy's advice is all very good, though for the first 24 hours of an actual injury you should use ice to reduce inflammation, not heat. Then I alternate heat and ice. I have back issues as well, and the best thing I can suggest for overall health is to add a 10 minute (minimum) yoga stretch exercise when you get out of bed every day. It helps with overall muscle warm up, and while it is not much, every little bit of work on your flexibilty and muscle tone helps throughout the rest of the day too.
