Officially as of 1:47 PM today, I am a homeowner

My blogs are pictures of my life at a certain point in time, so on my birthday on all the possible days for this to happen, I close on my house.

I can bore you with the process that had occurred through the last 2 months, but I won't. Suffice to say, I believe the Municipal government of Boston is incredibly corrupt and is getting kickbacks from contractors in order to enforce ordinances that seem on paper to be easy to follow, but in practice, require an accuracy that can only be done by measuring at the closest English inch measurement unit. (This city is not liberal enough to go into the metric system, but that's another story).

Somehow fate just so happens that all these things were completed last Friday and my lawyers and bankers next available date was June 24th 2014. I don't know if this means anything or if my life is based on such a strange trajectory of ideals, annoyance, failure, trial, triumph, and completion at a symbolic time of personal change.

Yet, now after all that trial and angst, I am happy to have property attached to my name, a place to call my own, a patch of dirt that I can sow to bear fruit or sell to bear funds :D

Congratulations on both counts.  You of all people should appreciate the karmic implications of starting your life as a homeowner on your birthday, the anniversary of the day you started life!

You bought a free standing home then - older, newer? which neighborhood did you choose? My partner and I bought into a 150 year old townhouse in the Southend 14 yrs ago. One of five condos and the repair expenses are shared, but it seems like they've been non-stop over the years. It's a lovely space, don't get me wrong--we love it, but I hope you don't have to deal with repairs as much as us over the years.

Welcome to the landed gentry! I believe you'll find your outlook has changed in a short time. Once the carpal tunnel syndrome subsides, invite some folks over to celebrate. Once laughter gets into the walls, life won't be the same.

That's the best present you could've given yourself. Congratulations!

In this day and age it is an achievement to own your own house by your twenty-seventh birthday.  Congratulations and best wishes!

I know how you feel buying  homes in the UK isn't easy so you lucky to have one in america, and it difficult for me to even pay the £400 rent I owe every month.
