Awesome interview. The Pledge question that comes to mind is how did Lord William's plans go so wrong? He is painted as a masterful, far-seeing creature, but in the end he is just as fallible as any human.  

 

Also, what sort of Brit shows are your favorites?

Thanks Parker!!  William had the ego the size of Gibralter!  He changed over the centuries from the kind Master to well, what he was. A truly worthless spot on the world. What good are vampires, really?   

And at one time they would have been the apex predator, before man built things they could kill them easily with, beyond the stake in the heart. 

I'm not sure I wouldn't get tired of living myself if I was around that long. 

Brit shows.. well .. what are we watching now.. The Unforgotten, Salvage Hunters, Being Human, Doctor Who, The Big Food Rescue, 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Miranda, .. tons of stuff.   I love their dramas ... Celebrity Juice.. oh yes as naughty as it sounds!!

Oh and dont forget Paul O'Grady's  For The Love Of Dogs .. guaranteed to make you cry at least once per show.

I'm a bit late to the game on this, but I didn't want to miss out on responding about tim and The Pledge! I read it a few weeks ago, and what struck me the most about the story was not so much the plot (which was fantastic, I've always been a big Anne Rice fan) but the way in which tim developed the characters, the scenes, and the passage of time so adeptly for such a short story. As a writer, I'm not sure I could ever manage it. How were you able to do it? I'd have a tendency to want to flesh everything out.  

Although the period-drama aspect of The Pledge is certainly intriguing, I will say that some of my favorite stories and poems by you, tim, are those that are raw and honest and kind of punch me in the gut. That's just me.

Thanks Mac!  How did i do that? I don't know, I think it might just be my style and I think that if you want to write short stories, you have to keep the story focused. There needs to be a beginning, middle and end but in those you need to develop the character, the plot, the setting, and the conflict. I think you need to give the reader enough so they can 'see' the place and people and you can't get bogged down in too many details. 

Had a very good support from my editor AC Benus when it comes to getting short stories, I hope, right. 

I like to write as much that's different that I can, keeps things interesting and me thinking.

Great interview, tim!  We'll all have to stop in to try some of that famous shepherd's pie some day.    I agree, After the Past is one of your best stories, but I'm also a huge fan of James and Farris.  Tim has also done a wonderful job in his delving into fairy tales, which was a wonderful and fun read.  I have read the first part of The Pledge, and enjoyed it, but I missed the second half.  I promise to search for it and leave a review very soon.

Hey Tim, I can't believe I missed the Discussion Day! But, better late than never. Tim, your writing is simply superb, and all of of noticed that when you began posting your poems and stories a couple of years ago; they have so much emotion in them, that they draw us in.

One of my all-time favorites of yours, would have to be Michael and Me, it was such a sweet and beautiful story.

One final thing, a lot of your poetry deals with the hardships you went through on the street, and seeing where you were then, and where you are now, gives me hope that there is always light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how dark things can get. So, thank you for that.

Drew! How wonderful to see you! Thank you! Things have changed so much since I wrote Michael and Me. Not between us! But with my writing. Michael is still the same!

There's always a way out Drew, sometimes you gotta ask for help though.
