Ask An Author 3.0 #21

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold on there. That's not the right title, is it? Ask An Author 3.0 #21? Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah!

Batman.

All jokes aside, there's a good point in my confusion. Is this even legitimate? I need the official AAA rulebook because I'm pretty sure what's about to go down is so off the beaten path. If you haven't already guessed, we don't have questions this month.

At least, not for an author. Guess again! It's not an Admin, Author, Promising Author, Signature Author, Classic Author, or even Moderator. Yep! We got ourselves a regular, plain-Jane member in the hot seat today. I gotta say, I'm really excited to have this person featured on Ask An Author. Can we get a round of applause for a familiar face on Gay Authors? Someone roll out the red carpet for @chris191070

With over three hundred story reviews, you're one of the most recognizable readers on GA. If you were stuck on an island with only one GA story, which one would it be?

It would be difficult to pick just one story as I have read and reviewed some amazing stories on GA. So I would have to go with a story Series and that would be CJ by @Carlos Hazday, because they have a bit of everything in them. Adventures, Sex, History and Good Food.

Not really a question, but I'm in charge here. Name three stories on your "I'm planning on reading this at some point" list.

1) Circumnavigation by @C James

2) Still You Want Me by @Mrsgnomie

3) Anything that Appeals by a New Author - I like to help and support New Authors.

If you could get a sneak peak at one of the in-progress stories and see the ending, which one would it be?

1)  Book 3 of The Hybrid Journey Series by @kbois - I know we're only halfway through Book 2. But right from the 1st chapter of Book 1, I have been gripped by this series with its attention to detail and how questions from Book 1 have seamlessly been answered in Book 2, knowing unanswered questions will be answered in Book 3.

2) The Super Epilogue of The Board Members Series by @Mrsgnomie - We have been left with unanswered questions from Book 2 - Jay's Loelife.

Thanks for these questions, they were not particularly easy to answer. As I've read some amazing stories in the 5 years I've been a member of GA.

Well, wasn't that a breath of fresh air? Thank you @chris191070 for answering these questions. Sometimes I forget it's not just about writing stories on GA, but also reading them. I'm sure I speak for a lot of us when I say we're always excited to see you reading one of our stories, Chris. For that, thank you for being such an awesome member of our community.

Y'all know the drill! Give me three questions for a member of Gay Authors, I'll put on a fedora with PRESS written on an attached sticky note, and I'll knock on some doors to find you the answers. Okay, probably not with the fedora. I don't have a great suit to wear one with. Regardless, send in your questions!

@chris191070 I'd love to give you a sneak peek at Book 3, but alas I  only have two chapters written.

@Carlos Hazday dammit you one upped @Mrsgnomie and me with your history obsession. We're neck and neck with sex and adventures. As far as good food..... I think I leave you two in the dust.

Just remember this is not a competition.

You do realize @Mrsgnomie has no clue what the word non-competitive means, right?

You're using someone with diminished mental capacity to portray your thoughts? Interesting...

I happen to agree with Mrs. G, private conversations should be kept private.

You're right. I'm your main competition regarding food in stories.

@astone2292 and @kbois you have no idea what you're talking about. Y'all have don't know what types of food I've written about. Should you be interested in a real comparison, you'll need to read all 32 stories in the 4 intertwined series. A tad under 1.25 million words. We can compare how to serve slimies. LOL

I respond well to whistles and hollers. Can you stand at least a street block away so I can acknowledge you individually when I ride by? I'll even fluff the gray chest hair for you. ;)

Off to lunch.

I got the potatoes! Pulling them from a recent chapter.

Quote

Pepper bacon, green and red peppers, onions, and just a kiss of queso blanco. It's barely enough to make the taters saucy, but it makes them a little au gratin style. Cooked on a half-oil drum barrel charcoal grill, of course.

You may not know this, but one of my MCs owns a winery in Australia. Wine pairings are common in my stories.

Spoiler

“Escargots à la Bourguignonne.” Kim’s reply visibly confused the boys.

“Those are snails, Roo.” Owen checked to ensure they were small enough for the boys to eat whole.

“I like them.” Liebe had started before anyone else. “Lots of garlic, and I think the liquid’s white wine.”

“Excellent, Munchkin. It’s a traditional French dish. Proud of you, kiddo. For identifying the ingredients and for being willing to try something new.” CJ did sound proud.

Once the escargot was consumed, the staff cleared the plates and brought out the second course. “Lomo de venado y papas al ajillo. Please excuse my lousy Spanish.” The red, medium-rare slices of venison and the garlicky purple potatoes looked delicious. “And this is a blue cheese soufflé made with Cabrales. Enjoy.”

“Right up your alley, Oz. Meat and potatoes with a side of cheese.”

“That’s simplistic, Ceej. You make it sound like a Big Mac with fries.”

“Same thing, babe. Maybe a little elevated.”

“What I want to know is why they served a better wine with your birthday meal than with mine. This red’s amazing.” César winking at Owen was his signal he was not being serious.

“Sorry, Grandpa A. We’ve had the Vega Sicilia before, and I asked for it. At over five hundred a bottle retail, it’s not something we drink on a regular basis.”

Brett sputtered and had to wipe his chin. “Five hundred? So, you two decide to order it on my dime? Sounds like when someone orders the most expensive dish on the menu because they’re not paying.”

LOL

I think our characters have differing palates. For the record, that was comfort food they were having: Meat and potatoes with cheese.

There's an all white lunch described in the same story. I don't want to give more away, but the accompanying cocktail was a white sangria with apples and white grapes and strawberries

Baked Alaska at 21 in NYC.

LOL you do realize I have a few stories to draw from, right. I rarely repeat myself, but one of my guys has a fixation with lamb, so I've used that protein a couple of times.

Or Key Lime pie at Joe's in SOBE.
