Site Administrator Myr Posted Friday at 01:54 PM Site Administrator Posted Friday at 01:54 PM So what does the Gay Authors story and community site mean to you? 1 1
Sherye Story Reader Posted Friday at 04:43 PM Posted Friday at 04:43 PM It means that I get to see some truly gifted authors from reading their stories and get to interact with others also. I may not have met them in person but since I have been here, everyone has made me feel at home and I feel special. And I can give back that special feeling to others too. Oh and we can all have laughs with each other! 4
chris191070 Posted Friday at 04:46 PM Posted Friday at 04:46 PM It's a community where you get great stories, amazing authors and a place to vent, laugh and talk to people 😊 3
Jason Rimbaud Posted Friday at 06:30 PM Posted Friday at 06:30 PM For me, it's a great place to share my stories with the few who enjoy my silliness. It is also a place that allows me to poke the Fabulous One, annoy Wildone, and cause general stirring of pots. A community where I've met some really fun and entertaining people. And finally its a place to support creativity in a space that includes something for everyone. 5
ReaderPaul Posted Friday at 07:01 PM Posted Friday at 07:01 PM GA is a great place to not only read a variety of story in a variety of situations, but interact with a variety of persons with vividly varied vivacious viewpoints. Some of those views envision possibilities I had not previously considered, causing curiosity and expanding horizons. Sure, there is a time or two I've encountered soreheads, but that seems to happen in most aspects of life. A good place of not only stories, but community. 4
Ron Posted Friday at 08:22 PM Posted Friday at 08:22 PM I've checked in everyday for the last few years (I have the badges to prove it ) and most days I'm looking around, if only briefly. So GA is and has been a stopping place in my daily routine for some time. I enjoy interacting with the other members and commenting on the various site blogs whenever I have something to say that adds to the conversation (aside from those few times when I've been a little stroppy ). GA is the only place that I've posted what I've written as an author, so there's that exclusive content here. I enjoy commenting on other author's stories when I actually have time to read as well. I guess what I'm saying is that GA has become a sort of home for this wandering gay author who has plenty of ideas and occasionally comes up with a story now and again. Thank you for the place and the space to roam freely. 4
Krista Posted Friday at 11:21 PM Posted Friday at 11:21 PM It means a great deal. I was young when I found GA, when I started writing. I used to think that the internet was a lot less than it is. More than my thirteen/fourteen year old brain could comprehend. When I started writing, it was around the same time that I and my real life gay friends found Nifty. I honestly didn't need to be on that site at that age. I didn't see it as scary, so when I started writing I was very much a teenager dealing with mostly adults. Adults that didn't know that I was so young. I got some interesting e-mails and comments. I don't think I would have stayed past my first two stories if I hadn't found GA. I used to have a blog here. I deleted it years ago, I'm sure it is still in the deep back alleys. I talked about everything that I won't talk about now. I want to protect my privacy, so I want the smallest online footprint possible. When I found GA one of those things I talked about changed the course of my entire life. Still does to this day. If you were around back then and happened into my "tell all," blogging I used to do, you know what that is if you haven't forgotten. The writing, posting, and community were a distraction from that and the island I put myself on for a time. It has of course morphed into the 'home' I use for my writing. I don't post anywhere else, not even to Nifty anymore. GA gave me @wildone. Someone I might harass, belittle, torture, poke at... but someone I have told things to that I've not spoken out loud to another living person. If I'm honest there have been years, months, that I said, "no more," with GA. I wasn't writing or present here, but he was, so I stayed. If he ever says he is stepping away, I'll go too, I've said that in the past and it still holds true. It's not that he carries all the weight and love I have for this place. I have learned, laughed, fussed over, and fought for a lot while here. It impacted my life to a degree. I wouldn't have written half of what I have to show without GA's support. Lastly, and probably most importantly, I could see what this place was for people who were alone in their personal worlds that didn't have anyone they could confide in about sexuality, fears, relationships, and/or writing. People found a place to be for a little while. To witness it, not fully understanding it as a heterosexual woman has been valuable to me. 4
