Weekly Wrap Up (Jan. 5 - Jan. 11)

First a disclaimer, I'm tired and none of me editors are around to read the wrap up for me :P

I hate to say but the first couple of weeks have been terrible for our US friends and neighbours it seems. With LA burning down and the east and southeast getting blasted by ice and snow, I have to say I hope that all of them are okay  I'm sure there is other places too that are having strange and wakey weather too, like Friday we had an actual thunderstorm (rain) and a blizzard Saturday night. Nothing that so many others are living through at the moment.

I reached out to a couple of our Classic Authors that live in the Greater Los Angeles area, and happy to hear that @viv and @shadowgod are both safe and not near the fires.

I am probably missing out on some other areas of the world, so tell me, is the weather where you are normal or have you been hit by something horrible? Or am I missing an area that I have not heard of? Like is Australia having wildfires which they have been prone to lately in their summers?

Rather that be on the sadness, lets move onto the positive this week. We had a good week for the GA News Blog, so let us wrap it up!

Monday, Cia kicked off the new year with I think was the monthly CSR feature  Although it said Signature Feature in the title. I think she was tired like me and her blog editors weren't around either :P. But check out his months CSR Feature:

Tuesday, we had Myr drop in with a new Genre Deep Dive where he went all Historical on us:

Thursday was a call out to all the sites poets! Valkyrie let us know the topic of the 2025 Poetry Anthology:

Friday, for fun, Aditus didn't go with the traditional Prompts for the first Prompt Friday of the year:

Not 4, not 5, not even 6, but the whole 7 days this past week we had a Word Of the Day. One was even published before I got the Weekly Wrap Up done last Sunday :P.

renewal, prescient, glibness, aggregate, vociferate, alteration, solitude

Oldham, where is live in the UK has been battered by heavy winds, heavy frost and -8C temperatures with snow on the higher grounds and floods in some areas of Greater Manchester (The County).

What CSR feature 🤔 you mention but don't tell us what it is. You have a word of the day instead.

The weather Down Under is about as expected. Fires in Victoria around Christmas. Torrential rain along the east coast over this past weekend. And almost everywhere else as hot as Hades. Welcome to paradise! 😀

I pray that none of our authors have been affected by the fires in LA. I am concerned about an old school friend who lives south of LA, but I suspect he is far enough away to be ok.

Are your bushfires as bad as those in Los Angeles? I know Australia is more used to them.

And here I was hoping that 2025 would be a better year for those I care about, but here's what happened so far.  First, I was worried about family members living through the snow and wintery weather in NY and PA when the fires in the Greater LA area were threatening where my son lives.  He had his car packed up and ready to boogie, since the fires had been coming closer and closer to where he lives, and then on Friday I woke up in GA to find the ground and my car covered in a nice blanket of snow and the temperature well below freezing.  I'm beginning to look like Papa Smurf, since I'm so cold that I'm turning blue.  Even right now it's 25 degrees F outside and it's predicted to dip into the upper teens before the end of the month.  If only I lived in an area the uses the Celcius temperature scale, because then the upper teens wouldn't sound so bad.  On top of everything else, tomorrow I have to report for jury duty again, and this is the fourth time (in different courts, of course) in the past several years.  Maybe they'll give me an honorary JD  (Juris Doctor) degree!  :gikkle:

At least yesterday my son informed me that where he lives has been, at least temporarily, removed from the "being in the direct path of the fire" list.  So, that  one bright spot (fingers still crossed though), so I'll turn to what's happening with GA - that's Gay Authors, not Georgia this time.  @Myr has been taking so many Deep Dives that he's beginning to remind me of Lloyd Bridges - the 1950s and 60s star of the television show Sea Hunt.   And since 2020, @Valkyrie has flashed us with a Full Moon, asked us to give her An Unconventional Gift, took us down A Winding Path, left us On the Road, and then asked us all to take A Leap of Faith.  Then, she treated us like marathoners when she wished us Long May You Run, and got all of us In Too Deep, and then she taunted me about my age by reminding me how many times I've celebrated Auld Lang Syne.  Now, she's pointing out that I may be entering a second childhood and Coming of Age for a second time (god forbid that I have to go through puberty again), so I ask you to please help me - I can't take any more of her idea about Diversity!  Ugh!

Please forgive me if I've been rambling and not make any sense, but I'm so cold that I'm suffering from brain freeze!  And trust me, that's not the most enjoyable way of becoming stiff.

I had to laugh 😃 But I'm sorry about the bad weather you are having and your son, being near the fires. Stay safe x

They have been known to be ... though probably not in areas so densely populated as LA.
