centexhairysub Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Chapter 58 was interesting........ I think the interplay between Harry and Gathan although very brief was very telling... Another mixing of the families without a move to California being involved might put a different spin on things... Father Tim and Max in Claremont taking on Rev and Mrs White might make for an excellent story line. I don't think that Father Tim and Max would move there permenately but setting up a facility there might take some time. A clash of religious cultures can always be entertaining. As far as the secret between the Danfields and Carmicheals, I had already thought of the fact that the two women had possibly had an affair or some type of sexual involvement at one point. They both came from very wealthy backgrounds and chances are they met at cotillion, private schools, college, or during the season; it really is a small world at a certain level of high society. However, I think that the secret is darker than that, still not sure what it is but it seems to be more complex than a school girl involvement. Can't wait for the next chapter, keep up the great work Mark....
mmike1969 Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Well, I was thinking Madison because that was a top girl name. Maybe Edward instead of Jacob? I was thinking two boys that's why I entered Edward...Meh I'm a Team Jacob kind of guy so keep Jacob
methodwriter85 Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 I was thinking a boy and a girl, but eh, whatever goes. We probably won't even know in this story since it's ending in March 2000. Maybe if Tiffany has a boy she'll name him Danfield Hinkleback-Graves or Carrswold Hinkleback-Graves. I kinda like that a lot- AND it's totally trendy(for 2000) to name a baby after a surname. Danfield or Carrswold would both work well for first names for a boy, I think.
mmike1969 Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 so we will not be seeing the total destruction of Omega and that nutty family if this story ends in March? Ug.. That means Brian will be around still...
gjtravel2a Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 The scene in Robbie's office was great! Reminds me of the "Reagan approach to Government" - 'Trust.....but verify!!" As usual, another great one Mark, thanks for both the continued high quality and quantity!! gj 1
PrivateTim Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Let's go with Hinkleback. The kids could be named Jacob Hinkleback-Graves and Madison Hinkleback-Graves. I do think a hyphenated name needs to be in there. Very 2000's. Anyway, chapter 58...glad the referendum passed. Let's hope they can save the town! For you trivia-mad people....Mark and I worked out the grade configurations of Gen 4. Darius and Gathan are the class of 2000. Ella is the class of 2001. Zach Hayes would be the class of 2003. JJ, Marie, and Will are all in the class of 2004. And John would be the class of '05. So currently, JJ and Will are in 8th grade...Will dating Drew reminded me of how it never worked out whenever an 8th grader tried to date a sophomore. Funny the little ways CAP reflects real-life sometimes. Madison was a boy's name until recently as was its cousin Addison. It was considered a tribute to James Madison. 2
methodwriter85 Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Right. It started switching over to being a girl's name after it being Darryl Hannah's character in the movie Splash.
Mark Arbour Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 so we will not be seeing the total destruction of Omega and that nutty family if this story ends in March? Ug.. Always made me feel a little guilty afterward. 2

I've done something like that a few times (not blowing someone) where I had an ulterior motive while doing a nice thing. Always made me feel a little guilty afterward. H'mmm, a greater good issue....I would suspect that the 'little guilt' did not outweigh the relief/assurance/peace of mind that you were able to achvie. When I have also done such things, it put a 'chink' in my self-concept, but my own sense of relief buffed out the mark. Machiaelli anyone???
gjtravel2a Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Wondering, will we one day find that Brad is Capt Granger's great-great-great-great grandson, and will it be from which side this ever growing complex family? H'mmmmmm, something he alone shares from his bio-dad or is there the possibility that it might, if true, float from the lineage shared with others in 'CAP'? Just a pondering from a loyalist to both incredible sagas. 1
methodwriter85 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 So I'm betting it will be Ella destroyed by California, in terms of a raging eating disorder that she develops to keep herself at 5'10" and 110 pounds for her modeling career.
Ivy Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Ella will be naturally willowy, no need for any self destruction. We'll leave that to JJ as he tries to maintain his weight for skating. Ch 59 I'm a sap, 'cause I thought it was cute and sweet. I mean taking Brad back to where they first met to propose, that's the definition of romantic! I for one did not see this coming. I thought we might see it later as the laws filp flop back and forth in California, but this was a total suprise. Love it! And Ella's going to get a makeover so she'll look great at the wedding! The only question is if Steph and Claire come to blows over who gets to take charge.

Nah. The only thing that'll happen in California to Ella is Darius will fall in love her. What? He's just as programed at the genetic level to find Hayes offspring hot as the rest of them.

I thought that was pretty cute, and a nice way to bring closure to the tough times they had. Nah. The only thing that'll happen in California to Ella is Darius will fall in love her. What? He's just as programed at the genetic level to find Hayes offspring hot as the rest of them. There's an idea. 2
centexhairysub Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 :ranger: :ranger: :ranger: Mark, who knew you were such a Cupid, I did!!!!! Loved Loved Loved this chapter, # 59, was just picture perfect.... I agree that Robbie taking Brad back to where it all began was just lovely on his part. The idea of JP and Stef and Frank and Isidore walking them down the aisle is great as well. I sort of like the idea of Darius falling for Ella, would be a different twist on that family history. I think that Claire will be the one to take her under her wing, I know that Stef has great taste and don't doubt for a minute that he could dress a woman; that being said, Ella would probably be more comfortable and Claire would be more tied into what a young lady her age was wearing because of her own daughter. Keep up the good work and can't wait for the next chapter. 1
rjo Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 One of the things I love about the saga is that is is so much like real life. Brad and Robbie met in the commons on the fourth. It was love at first sight. So many things could have kept them apart. Because of the abuse Brad endured and Robbie's rape they were brought together. Who would have known what would happen ( well Mark did ) but so many times life brings people into our lives just like what it did with Robbie and Brad. Another great chapter. Thanks Mark.
KYE Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I think that Tiffany would give the child Matt or Wade's last name. She's a realist, and would have to know that either one of those names would be more valuable to her child than hers, at least as far as we know. In fact, we don't even know Tiffany's last name. Any suggestions? Well Mark since you like to cross characters and relatives so much, I would suggest van den Boss for Tiffany. That is the last name of the Dutch guy with the Datsun in Be Rad that Brad helped with the blown tire (and who also got to blow Brad). Tiffany van den Boss. 1
methodwriter85 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Dutch would work for Tiffany, but aren't Dutch women usually tall? Tiffany is short.
Mark Arbour Posted January 27, 2011 Author Posted January 27, 2011 Well Mark since you like to cross characters and relatives so much, I would suggest van den Boss for Tiffany. That is the last name of the Dutch guy with the Datsun in Be Rad that Brad helped with the blown tire (and who also got to blow Brad). Tiffany van den Boss. That's a really interesting idea. You pulled that character out of the literary closet...something I might do. Dutch would work for Tiffany, but aren't Dutch women usually tall? Tiffany is short. Dutch women come in all shapes and sizes, just like Dutch men. 3
mmike1969 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Dutch would work for Tiffany, but aren't Dutch women usually tall? Tiffany is short. I still say Tiffany's name should be Carullo. She could come to Stanford, meet up with little brother John and demand to know the name of the a*hole who broke his heart last year so she can give him a piece of her mind!
B1ue Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Yes, because that's exactly the reaction we'd expect for someone who is in the closet. Besides, even if all that were to come to be, Matt would promptly offer to work it out in bed, with both of them by preference. And then Tiffany would have to kill him. I kind of like the idea of her being a van den Boss. The extra syllables indicate either recent immigration or enough money/clout that Americanizing their name to simply Boss would hurt them rather than help. Plus, the inevitable conversation: Tiffany -"Robbie, Jeanine, Brad, I want you to meet my father." Robbie - "Hello!" Jeanine - "A pleasure, sir," Brad - "Er...actually, we've met. Just once, a long time ago, but I've treasured the memory since." Robbie (from behind the hand over his eyes) - "Meaning you've slept with him." Brad - "Meaning I slept with him."
mmike1969 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 hmmm... Carrswold van den Boss-Graves or Danfied van den Boss-Graves.. I love it Now we need a middle name! as for John Carullo, we don't know if he's still in the closet or if his mom didn't know he's gay... exanple: me: mom, dad, I'm gay. parents: ... confused look...Yeah we know. me: um how did you know? parents: ...rolling their eyes... When was the last time you brought home a girl to meet us me: I never brought home a girl, only guys!... Oh...
Mark Arbour Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 I think in an Italian family, it would go more like this. John: "Mom, I need to talk to you." Mom: As she rummages around the kitchen. "What is it?" John. "I like men." Mom: "Well of course you do. You're a friendly boy." John: "No Mom, I like men because I'm gay." Mom: Looks flustered. "Hand me that pan." John: "Did you hear me?" Mom: "Put some water in it. I have to boil the pasta now." John: "Mom?" Mom: "Stir that sauce on the stove. I don't want it to burn." I'll let Sharon weigh in on this one. 3
methodwriter85 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I never thought Carullo was supposed to be gay. I read him more as a bi guy who leaned more toward girls, but liked messing around with men as well.
