Ok... well Dom - you have a little problem. TOU 25 was SOOOOOOooooo great, it's gonna be hard to ever top it

Seriously - between story line, character development, setting the scenes, all of the humor we've come to expect and love - it was a fantastic chapter. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

 

I just finished reading it - and heh - um, I'm still very affected by it in many ways... But overall - just a wonderful happyness and contentment.

Now that I've said that...I wish Quinn would have topped. Brown hair + curls = hot. Plus, guys with psychological problems are majorly hot. So I think Quinn is hotter than Jude. But, That was the best sex scene I've ever read, and I've read a lot of sex scenes. It happens when you're a virgin.

 

However, that was a great ending to an awesome story. Now I'm going to cry a few tears of joy for the officially "out" Quinn.

I must say I have to agree with Michael 100%, Awesome job Dom! and I think it really would make a fantastic movie!

 

On a side note, and I really do hate to get personal, but think I will. I found that the story (especially the part about Quinn's coming out to his mom) hit very close to home. I'm not "out" to my mom yet and was quite quite anxious with the whole chapter and seeing how she would deal with it. I really must say that I think it might be the best chapter of the story! (of course I think that when I read every chapter, but seriously ;-)). And I have to say I found the part about Bree being so shocked she spit on Brad to be one of the funniest in the whole story! All in all a truly fantastic and moving story. Oh and since I got personal anyway, it actually inspired me to "feel out" my mom for how she might react, and while I was always pretty much positive it would be fine, and never for a minute thought she'd really break ties or anything like that. I'm now pretty much 100% sure she'll be ok with it and even very supportive about it (I probably woulda even told her then except that we were on the phone and I think it's more of a face to face thing).

LOL I know slaveboy and I have already debated this in a different thread but I have to say that personally speaking I totally disagree! LOL I think of all the characters in all the stories JUDE is by far the hottest! (not only does he have the blonde hair but it sounds like he has it in a really sexy style, I love the shagy in the face look). LOL I really think his only competition for "hottest Dom character" would be Luke or Owen.

 

That said though I think I mighta been hoping Quinn would top too, but that was before I read it, while I was reading it I have to agree it worked perfectly and was an awesome scene.

 

I must say however that I really don't think it's the best sex scene. Really really really awesome, but I'd say the best was hands down Owen and Aiden's first time! I mean it was SO perfect. I think what made it so much better for me though was the emotional connection. But anyway this one was still really beautiful, and the whole story was just so wonderful and moving. And this chapter really did seem like the perfect grand finale'.

A Friendly Face:) I agree with you about Jude..I love curly haired men...I usually like dark haired men but Jude is way hot....(not that Quinn isn't..but um, Jude, yummy delicious:)

 

As to your Mom, good going:) (I totally identify with TOU....pretty much relate to Quinn in soo many ways....(thinking in my brain etc...instead of feelings flow...worries of homophobic family members)

 

I had told sisters, but when I gathered the family together (I don't see abusive step mother) and told my Dad, he was the most accepting, loving of them all (one sister said "why do you have to be Gay?" and she wasn't pleased...um, mild understatement and she said it like oh why does she have to have a Gay brother..I do love her..but oh well....her stuff not mine)

 

My Dad said, "I have always known you have been Gay. I figured if you wanted me to know you would tell me...It is your life to live as you wish so just be happy and find someone to love...and don't be offended if I don't ask about your sex life but then again I don't want to know about your sisters either" Then he said, so where do you want to go to dinner...that was that..he hugged me and I kept telling myself...duh, I should have told him ages ago.....(but I grew up in a homophobic (openly racist, sexist, homophobic comments beyond belief...the irony was I was the feminist in the family) so I was surprised..sounds like your Mom loves you very much and will be very cool with it....hugs and fingers crossed and tell her when you are ready:)

Now that I've had a couple of days to recover emotionally from reading chapter 25, I'm going to say some sort-of negative things about the chapter, at the risk of hositlity and/or consternation from fellow Domaholics. Chapter 24 was perfect, and such a wonderful ending to the story, and yet I don't think chapter 25 takes away from that.

 

Chapter 25 was like it was written as a special favor to Dom's readers and fans. Because I follow these forums, it looked a lot like Dom had a checklist in hand as he wrote the first part of the chapter. Probably that will be less obvious to people who just read the story cold.

 

After Dom deals with all the little things people wanted more of, he turns to the two biggies his fans demanded.

 

One was to see what happened when Quinn comes out to his mom. "Be careful what you wish for, because you might get it," comes to mind. Dom executed it well, and it fit what we knew about her (using denial, for example), but it was painful enough that it made my idea of Chapter 25 taking place at her funeral, or somebody's idea that she hook up with Murphy, start sounding pretty good. Since that part of the chapter seems to be a catalyst already for some readers to come to terms with their own family members, then I guess it is worth whatever unpleasantness it caused.

 

The other big request/demand was the big sex scene. What can I say? It was sweet and funny and intense and erotic and a long list otherwise. It certainly wasn't, "Well, they're demanding a sex scene, so I'll throw one in." How about, "You want a sex scene? I'll show you a sex scene." And he sure did. The device of the mystery of who wears the condom (and expressing it that way) was a great one. Probably many readers are like slaveboy and wish it had been answered the other way around. But the story showed why, both intellectually and physically, Quinn concluded that it had to go the way it did. Each boy was trying to do the most loving thing for the other one. It was beautiful. But never fear, slaveboy et al., the story sure implies that the answer to that question was not always the same. Perhaps even in the Saturday rituals of cold pizza, etc., the mystery of who wears the condom continues to surprise them each week.

Hell, AFriendlyFace has more courage than I do with coming out to anyone. The only person that I have met face to face who knows about my bisexuality is also the only guy I have had any form of a sexual encounter with. On top of that it was only once and some people don't consider it sex at all. I have natural fears of coming out because my mom has indeed expressed her opinion on the matter of homosexuality. She claims she loves gay guys because they are funny (reference to Will & Grace), but she doesn't believe in the way that they have sex. It only got that far because I felt the need to defend every aspect of the gay mans life (I do it almost daily with my best friend because he is extremely homophobic). Sometimes I think she knows that I am not entirely straight. My father, on the other hand, I just can't read him. All I know is that he has used the word faggot a few times, but in a joking manner. He has said it a few times recently, because of my handshake. Apparantly it is more feminine than masculine, and he shakes my hand almost every sunday when I pack up and return to school. Worst comes to worst I am almost 100% positive that I can confide in my sister, because she is a co-founder of the GSA at the high school we both went to. The only thing is I am not sure how she would react with the knowledge that her flesh and blood is like that too. *sigh* Life sucks.

 

But then, I honestly have no problem at all with never telling anyone, since a) it's none of their damn business who I want to have sex with and a lot of the time I can see myself dating women, and only having sexual encounters with males in my young age before actually spending the rest of my life with a woman. I guess that's where confusion comes into the equation.

 

Anyway, I'm rambling, and I'm hungry, so I'm going to stop typing, and start wondering when DD 9 is going to be finished so we can see where that nefarious cliffhanger is going to take the story.

Dear RKNapp,

 

the first person I told amongst my own family was one of my sisters who lives in NYC and has a number of Gay friends...well, suffice to say that is ok...as long as HER ONLY brother ISN'T G-A-Y!! (and no she isn't the sister who's one and only comment was 'why do I have to be Gay?' (the sister in NYC still wonders why I tell her almost nothing..since for a few years we have had lots of struggles on her lack of acceptance of me and I have not held back letting her know how angry I am at her for conduct toward me...recently, on her birthday we had a nice chat and that was the first time in a long long time I felt comfortable with her...but I still keep my guard up) Don't let my crazy Italian sisters/family dictate your experiences.

 

Coming out is on your own terms and in your own time, comfort levels. (and please, I know a zillion straight men who have a weak handshake and a zillion Gay men who practically break your arm off with their handshake..so um, Dad needs to get with the program..)

 

Sadly, the way they portray Will, str8 people assume we Gays get no sex...geez, he kisses Grace more times in a show then he does in an entire season with any Gay men they have him date and break up with......Grrr...and they NEVER EVER SHOW HIM KISSING HIS BF or in bed together...ok, I better stop here since I am going to get ANGRIER at how they have had eunuchs of Will and Jack...

and I know (as an aside, given my crazy family that if I came out as a teen, I would be throw out with the trash...geez, step mommy dearest threw out two of my sisters when I was a teen and they are straight....so um, fear not, when you are ready, you are ready and many a post has been written that teens may not want to come out until they are adults if parental units won't give them the acceptance but retaliate financially and otherwise...geez, I read in the Advocate how a college student with a scholarship was beaten by his father, had his car taken away from him so he couldn't get to his classes nor to his job and his parents took away his computer and possessions and they did this on more then one occassion..I wanted to go rescue him and give his parents a what for...so please be safe and careful..and hey it sounds like you will be ok...and hopefully your sister is more like Bree and far less like mine!! The third sister...oy we won't go there..love her tons but she often can't say the word "Gay"....pretty sad indeed!

And Bao has a very good point, psychic abilities would be a very nice commodity. But they can also be very traumatizing (would you honestly want to read your siblings mind when they say they are in an "open" relationship? *shudder*)
