W_L Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Well, I know there is a problem with the anthology, but I want to create a thread for discussion. My entry is basically 5 shorts concerning Death, both how we reach the point of death and what we carry into it. There's a mythological component to the story that works as the basis of my meta-verse's concept of death. (Yes, as a Writer, I do try to link some of my stories together into a loose meta-verse sort of like DC or Marvel superheroes). My premise for this entry into the anthology was the concept of the 5 Stages of Loss in Psychology, you can look at this site for my basis http://psychcentral.com/lib/2006/the-5-stages-of-loss-and-grief/ 1. Denial and Isolation 2. Anger 3. Bargaining 4. Depression 5. Acceptance Each of my shorts revolves around one of these choices that people use to approach loss or in this case the "ultimate loss", Death. Also, Death in my story is not as inhuman or unfeeling as most writer made him out to be or as a type of grim reaper-esque persona. Finally, in the last segment of my story, you get a glance into a bigger story that I have been developing about certain characters and story lines, including a variation of a famous fantasy language that I will use along with some others from the same writer (Sort of my nod to its use). Please find the link of the story here Hope you guys enjoy and discuss, even denounce if you think I am being too pretentious, like "Six Feet Under".
Mikelaing74 Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 W_L you need to have a look at On A Pale Horse by Piers Anthony. He takes the same sort of approach to Death as you have here. In fact the whole series of the Incarnations of a immortality series provides a different perspective on what is normally portrayed.
JamesSavik Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 >>Which way do you want to die? With my hands around my enemies throats. 1

Daddydavek Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 HA! I actually want to die without regrets if possible Everyone eventually has regrets. The trick is to not waste any time on them! As to how I'd like to die; in my bed, in my sleep after a night out with good friends, good food and good drink and perhaps just a little nookie on the side.
