Sam Smith is the most recent of celebrity who has come out as gay. I'm betting that by the end of 2015 at least four more celebrity will come out as being gay.

I'm amazed that recent development and a better understanding of the LGBT community has caused an uproar and encouraged more famous face to internationally come out.

I just hope that in the future more people will feel confident enough to come out, and be happy with themselves and there sexuality.

I'm thinking that it would be even better if less than already supposed people started coming out. You know: more sports figures; one of the local firemen; a police officer people know and other people in the public eye. It wouldn't necessarily matter if they were people in the national spotlight. It would be just as great, maybe more so, if it were someone local that a queerling could look up to and find a good role model, to find that they're not alone. I think the average gay person really does underestimate how much influence that they actually have just by being their self. Sometimes it's enough to be out and just be you. More, can only be better.

Edit: I understand Cynus' point about being inclusive, and I agree. I used the word gay as a tailored response to GA.

I love this point, though I'd have to add that everyone, gay, straight, bi, trans, pan; however you may identify, being true to yourself is always the way to be.

I have suspisioned for a while now that the increase in Gay identifying men and women may be a function of two variables.

n = Greater acceptance and tolerance of the orientation

x = (controversial) A phenomenon being generated as a force of natural population control...not man made.

We are always among the elite in every generation.

Artists, musicians, authors, poets, scientists- not as also rans, but true stars.

Given an even playing field, we always excel because we do have gifts.

It's one of the reasons that pathetic normals fear and hate us.

 Also you never invite us to your nice brunches. I had this gay coworker once I still have this grudge against. Whenever I asked him what his plans for the weekend were? He and his boyfriend were catering some kind of elaborate brunch for a select party. He would describe in detail every item on the menu, for god's sake. Was I ever, ever even once, invited? NO.

If I never read another gay story with a brunch in it, one with petite, lightly toasted salmon and Swiss chocolate étouffée's with a garlic sprinkle and a parsley embellishment served on a pool of cream sauce and a glass of their finest claret, I will die a happy man.

Scotty, you are, like all people, a diamond. You have many facets. One of them is your sexual orientation. Be yourself, and let all the facets shine.

I've never been to "brunch".

I just eat cold sausage & biscuits when I'm hunting and too busy to eat breakfast.

No- in some ways... sigh... I'm gay challenged. I ride the short gay bus.

In Mississippi, we don't see much of the culture.

I heard of a gay bar in Hattiesburg and tried to go.

They wouldn't let me in. They didn't believe I was gay and, were afraid to let someone my size in.

It almost happened again in Biloxi but and acquaintance saw me, verified that yes, he is gay, big as a house but not really dangerous unless you hand him tequila shooters.  OK- long story.

Go back home, fix some grits with lots of butter and add the sausage to a gravy you make for the biscuits.....that's great ANYtime...why wait for brunch?

The only time I ever went to brunch was the occasional NCO call that was held at the post NCO/Officers mixed facility in Hohenfels, Germany. They put out a nice spread, some of the best SOS I've ever eaten!

Gay, Straight, Lesbianism, Transgendered, they're all labels that have been placed on us. As long as you are true to yourself and others it shouldn't matter. Now, let's jump out of utopia. It's unfortunate that our society places such importance on them. Someone could be ostracized simply because they belong to the wrong group.

People should feel that as long as someone isn't directing their lifestyle directly at them they should live and let live. Let's all hope and pray that some day that's the way it will be.

I may start going to a Sunday Brunch at our local Ultragay Establishment in Hillcrest called Urban MO's. I think I just want to go because its called 'Church'. So I can go to 'Church' on Sunday. :P

Did I miss some rule that says a gay guy has to fit a certain physical profile?  And here I thought sexual orientation had very little to do with size, shape or even a person's color!   Sort of reinforces my belief that the most prejudiced people are usually members of the group being disrespected!
