Menace Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 (edited) Hello all, I just wanted to create a topic where we can share some good lgbt movies for people to look out for and watch. Cynus Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 House of Boys (A surprisingly deep film for being about male strippers)
Menace Posted August 16, 2015 Author Posted August 16, 2015 Shortbus... brilliant I was going to mention this one, but it had some nude and explicit scenes. I wasn't sure if i wanted to share this one.

Sorry, I didn't realize you were keeping it PG... yeah, it is explicit... certainly not for kids, but I found all their journeys compelling... Do you want me to delete my post? Do you want me to delete my post? It's fine. I just want to point it out that it is explicit with nudity. So it's a warning for the viewers.
Krista Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Ciao The 10 Year Plan - a bit bah, but still cute in some ways. The Geography Club - I guess the book is tons better, but heh.
TetRefine Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 David's Birthday (2009)- Its in Italian and is a tragedy, and is one of my favorite movies overall. Mulligans (2008)- Another bit of a tragedy film similar to David's Birthday.

Site Administrator wildone Posted September 4, 2015 Site Administrator Posted September 4, 2015 A couple of cheesy ones: Make the Yuletide Gay 2009 Another Gay Movie 2006 (Warning, nudity. You will see a full naked, not blurred scene of Richard Hatch of Survivor fame. You cannot erase this from your memory
RomanRomaan Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I rewatched The Normal Heart two nights ago because I'm a masochist... I'm glad to say I rewatched it also..though I'm not that masochistic 1
Warrior1 Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 (edited) 1. Out in the Dark -- 10/10 -- Stunningly shot, soulfully acted with an unforgettable ending. Essentially a love story dealing with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the background. And yes, the two leads are yummy looking, especially Nicholas Jacob. This is without doubt my favorite LGBT movie, and one of my favorite movies of all time. 2. The Matthew Shepard Story -- 10/10 -- Expresses the haunting story of the real life Matthew Shepard in haunting details. I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't get his eyes teary watching this. Shane Meier was more than adequate as Matthew, and Stockard Channing gives one of the greatest performances in any medium. Another all-time favorite of mine. 3. Brokeback Mountain -- 9/10 -- eh, no need for description. But I'd say I liked the short story better, and it was that which inspired me to give the movie a second chance (yeah the first time, I couldn't get past the first 20 minutes). 4. Prayer for Bobby -- 9/10 -- A mother's struggle for her son's 'problems' -- first with his sexuality, then finding justice, and then finally making peace with God. Sends a positive message, and is very well-acted and well-made. 5. Just a Question of Love -- 9/10 -- In terms of storyline or execution, I can't call it extraordinary or very good. But this film proves that you don't always need a skillfully-written, unique plot or complex dialogues to tell a good story. Sometimes cliched plot and predictability can work just as well. Maybe it was the chemistry between the leads and their acting that made the film feel so real and touched me on an emotional level. And Stephane !!! Guh, one of the most handsome men I've ever seen in my life. 6. Weekend -- 8.5/10 -- Sexy men and the sexy chemistry between them. Very realistic and life-like. The ending broke my heart. 7. North Sea Texas -- 8.5/10 -- Lush, gorgeous cinematography, and an unique look into the minds of children/teenagers and their growing period. A bitter-sweet ending, one that is both confusing as it's satisfying. 8. Free Fall -- 7.5/10 -- Highly erotic (the explicit scenes were, in my opinion, better than any porn or erotica I've seen). But I couldn't connect with the men on an emotional level. 9. Morgan -- 7.5/10 -- The chemistry made up for what could have been a mediocre film. Others I have seen are not really worth mentioning. Ashi Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I am shocked Dennis's list has no The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994), since he is so into drag queens at the moment. Other drag queen themed gay movies: Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001) Breakfast on Pluto (2005) Gay movies, not drag queen themed: Edge of Seventeen (1998) (how can this movie be missed from the list?) The Mudge Boy (2003) (feature length remake of Fishbelly White. Be forewarned... there is one off-screen rape scene. Shirtless scenes but no nudity) The Way He Looks (2014) (feature length version of the Brazilian short film: I Don't Want to Go Back Alone) Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss (1998) (Sean Hayes's best work. Many gay people probably have gone through what he did... the feeling of empty relationship. The photographer alluded is unmistakably Bruce Weber of Abercrombie and Fitch fame. Rex Webster... who are you kidding? ) Not necessary a gay movie, but Billy Elliot (2000) is very nice

Thorn Wilde Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Velvet Goldmine deserves a mention, I think. It's one of my favourites and has the added bonus of a fantastic soundtrack. The Naked Civil Servant and An Englishman in New York, the films about Quentin Crisp starring John Hurt, are another couple of favourites. They give an interesting historical perspective at the same time as they are just really hilarious!
