So, I was feeling this prompt, and decided on not one, but two Carols. With AC's  great help and fine tuning, I felt brave enough to share! What do you think?

The north wind wakes the quiet day
Snow capped branches bend low and sigh
I watch the early shadows play
As bands of colour flood the sky
While outside

The snow gently falls
A bird sweetly calls
Nature hurriedly greets the dawn
Arise, arise, it's Christmas morn

Pine beckons from the tree so tall
That soon we will be gathered round
Bright stockings hanging from the wall
Await with goodies to be found
But outside

The snow softly falls
A bird gaily calls
Nature hurriedly greets the dawn
Arise, arise, it's Christmas morn

Laughter from children filled with glee
A table surrounded with love
Gifts will from their trappings fall free
So I raise grateful eyes above
As outside

The snow lightly falls
A bird gladly calls
Nature hurriedly greets the dawn
Arise, arise, it's Christmas morn

I'll pray that pain and hunger cease
That strangers and friends grown and small
Will fill our world with love and peace
And no harm our loved ones befall
While outside

The snow calmly falls
A bird kindly calls
Nature hurriedly greets the dawn
Arise, arise, it's Christmas morn.

And then there's this:

Awake, be glad this happy morn
Our Saviour Christ today is born
Men of old once this day foretold
Bringing frankincense, myrrh and gold

Noël, Noël, Noël we sing
Greetings to our Saviour King

Angels brought tidings of His birth
To lowly shepherds here on earth
Now his people in thanksgiving
Proclaim in joy of His coming

Noël, Noël, Noël we sing
Greetings to our Saviour King

Arise, prepare your hearts for him
Alight the parts of you gone dim
Peace on earth and to all good will
A gift mankind can give him still

Noël, Noël, Noël we sing
Greetings to our Saviour King

Absolutely wonderful, Def! Both of them! You're a writer now... you just proved it and I am so proud you took the plunge. Gary...

Thanks, Defiance19, for posting these. I like both of them a lot, but the first one particularly has a quiet centeredness that I respond to especially well. It's like that pause before the holidays, where anticipation is the keenest, and here you've taken that still moment and projected it out-of-doors. I like and appreciate that a lot.

The second carol is perfect! I can imagine hearing this in church as part of a Christmas celebration; someone who writes tunes should probably set this to music, for I bet you'd have a hit on your hands.

Thank you for taking the poetry prompt challenge – I'm glad you felt 'it' and gave us two wonderful Carols!

Def, I loved your carols! You should join us on the red side of life. Just a warning. Poetry got me hooked to writing... You might end up with a lot if voices in your head demanding their story to be written.

Thank you Puppi.. Lol, I will heed your warning and proceed with caution..

Well.. I don't even know what to say.. Thank You again AC, your thoughts are both encouraging and appreciated. Your help made them both cleaner and I'm forever grateful. Added to everyone else's comments I'm feeling inspired. I'm glad I posted them too and maybe I'll try another. Lol can't believe I typed that.  :)

Just an observation: you registered as a member four months after me. I published my first poetry this summer, about six months ago. Just so you know, my next step (a prompt response) came two months after that. Therefore, I predict you will write more in... perhaps February or March? Could be inevitable! LOL
