Good Evening Folks...

It's going to be a long night for me.

So, I will see you all tomorrow.

I got my assignment back... 30 mins ago... ungraded. I was told, "You're too wordy. Fix this before final grade." Each paragraph had a minimum word count of 375 words for each of the three we were to write. I submitted mine with 500 words per paragraph.

I have the four-day accommodation, but I was trying not to use it. Seeing as I turned in my paper for the second time Sunday, after she told us on Saturday that all papers turned in before Saturday needed to be redone... because she finally graded week 2's assignment, and we need to follow her feedback on it.

Sorry for the rant. Good Course, a nice refresher on English rules, pain in the ass for me to do but that's cool. Just a crappy instructor that feels that because she wrote an academic college-level textbook, and that she's a Doctor of English, that her shyte doesn't stink.

recalcitrant Audio pronunciation

adjective | rih-KAL-suh-trunt

Definition

:
obstinately defiant of authority or restraint

2
:
difficult to manage or operate

:
not responsive to treatment

:

Long before any human was dubbed "recalcitrant" in English (that first occurred in the 18th century), there were stubborn mules (and horses) kicking back their heels. The ancient Romans noted as much (Pliny the Elder among them), and they had a word for it: recalcitrare, which literally means "to kick back." (Its root calc-, meaning "heel," is also the root of calcaneus, the large bone of the heel in humans.) Certainly Roman citizens in Pliny's time were sometimes willful and hardheaded—as attested by various Latin words meaning "stubborn"—but it wasn't until later that writers of Late Latin applied recalcitrare and its derivative adjective to humans who were stubborn as mules.

Today, I don’t have to go anywhere because it’s time for the  annual inspection of my smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.  I tried sleeping in, because I can, but my brain said no, so here I am.

Brings to mind a technical writing course I once took, back when instructing was done in three dimensions instead of two.  I was puzzled about my grade on my research paper, carefully done to specs.  When I went to see the instructor, she suggested that if it had been earlier in the semester, we "could have worked something out".  In discussing the class later with my male peers, I learned that her body language was more important than the specs, and grades had a lot to do with "performance" other than English.

Never experienced it, but I've heard about it before in my first attempt at college. Didn't really believe it, until I spotted the student and professor kissing in her office. I was doing Federal Work/Study, and was doing receptionist work for the Humanities department. My entire outlook on it was, "I didn't see Shyte. I need this Work/Study."

You’re scared of little old me? Strange, but I can’t think of why that would be... 0:)

I've tinkered with my future stories schedule over the past few days. One of my ideas has a working title of Modzilla. Wanna guess why? LOL

That is disgusting. If a male teacher suggested such a thing he'd be drawn and quartered. Sick.

@Reader1810 someone asked me about the new tag on all of Skinnydragon's stories. Is it something new being rolled out or just for him?

Relatively new, and it happened with SkinnyD yesterday because I was notified of a comment on his blog which got me to thinking about the status of his stories. I PM’d Cia so she could make the change.

GA now has a status to show an author is deceased. It’s so members won’t be left wondering when a story will be updated or why there’s been no response to a chapter comment.
