Thorn Wilde Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 Morning, DiC! Been to see my GP. She prescribed me an anti-emetic. She also told me I have a virus, so I just have to wait out this infernal cold and just treat the symptoms as best I can. Apparently there's one going around that gets better, then worse, then better, then worse. Ugh. Anyway, hope you all have a nice day! 4

Hoping mine will go away sooner rather than later. At least with the anti-emetic I may be able to eat a bit more. Feed a cold, isn't that what they say? Good quote, btw, though I'm not sure I entirely agree... At least I think there's more to it. I think good art is a dialogue. It's about the story we want to tell, and how the readers react to and interpret that story. There's a bit of me in everything I write. So, yeah, it's about us. Just my opinion, though. 3 1

Thorn Wilde Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 1 minute ago, Kitt said: I was thinking Gaelic It uses the Norse symbols for the th sound. ð is th as in 'this'. þ is th as in 'forth'. I could also read it quite easily based on my knowledge of Norwegian, Swedish and (a little bit of) Icelandic. I think Gaelic is actually further removed from old English than Norse is. 1
Thorn Wilde Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 The Lord's Prayer in Gaelic: Spoiler Ár nAthair, atá ar neamh: go naofar d'ainm. Go dtaga do ríocht. Go ndéantar do thoil ar talamh mar a dhéantar ar neamh. Ár n-arán laethúil tabhair dúinn inniu, agus maith dúinn ár bhfiacha, mar a mhaithimid dár bhféichiúnaithe féin. Agus ná lig sinn i gcathú, ach saor sinn ó olc. [Óir is leatsa an Ríocht agus an Chumhacht agus an Ghlóir, trí shaol na saol.] Áiméan. In Old Norse: Spoiler Faþer vár es ert í himenríki, verði nafn þitt hæilagt. Til kome ríke þitt, værði vili þin sva a iarðu sem í himnum. Gef oss í dag brauð vort dagligt, Ok fyr gefþu oss synþer órar, sem vér fyr gefom þeim er viþ oss hafa misgert Leiðd oss eigi í freistni, heldr leys þv oss frá öllu illu. And in Norn, which was spoken in Shetland: Spoiler Fy vor or er i Chimeri. Halaght vara nam dit. La Konungdum din cumma. La vill din vera guerde i vrildin sindaeri chimeri. Gav vus dagh u dagloght brau. Forgive sindorwara sin vi forgiva gem ao sinda gainst wus. Lia wus ikè o vera tempa, but delivra wus fro adlu idlu.
