In the afternoon, Michael sent me to the kitchen to do stuff. He knows that if i'm in there, i'm busy and my mind is not dwelling on well ... my mother and my past. i ended up making a pot of soup and a double batch of curry and a sweet treat for us. So that's some lunches, and a couple of dinners done. I remember when i was a kid, Valentine's Day was some little cards and making something for your mom. Not spending your savings to keep her happy or your partner happy, as an adult. Now, it sounds like a day where you better had, where you better prove with all your savings, how much you love them. It used to be a sweet kind of day, but now for many it is another day of greed, or a reminder of what you do not have. i don't need proof or gifts ... my Husband is my gift, and i don't need a huge expensive show from Him. Today's the first day I haven't been on a bus for 3+ hours just to get to an appointment, with another 3+ to get home. Been reading some posts on Reddit about Men who "messed up" Valentine's day, or their girlfriend/wife didn't get them anything but expected gifts because "Valentine's is ONLY FOR THE GIRL."
